Chapter 34 Happy New Year!

The porcelain jar containing lip rouge clattered loudly on the table.

After throwing it away, Wei Li felt something was off. She felt like she was being quite ignorant. It was just some rouge and powder, after all. Her ears turned a little red again.

He nodded to make amends, "Oh, of course I know."

Zhao Xiheng: "???"

What do you know? You don't seem to know anything.

She carefully and somewhat reluctantly put away the walnut-sized porcelain jar from the table.

"Look at your pathetic self." Wei Li cleared his throat as he looked at her. "It's just a little bit of rouge."

“It’s lip rouge,” Zhao Xiheng corrected him. “It was expensive to buy.”

Wei Li was unconvinced and pinched her red and burning earlobe. "How much more expensive could it be?"

"It cost several strings of cash!" Zhao Xiheng straightened her back and couldn't help but argue with him.

Men don't understand these things, yet they always love to argue with others. Zhao Xiheng gets angry when she hears this, and she doesn't care whether Wei Li has just returned or not. If she argues again, she might just drive him away.

"You spent several pieces of gold to buy this, and it's just lip rouge!" Wei Li said with a hint of disdain.

Zhao Xiheng couldn't reason with him, so she angrily packed away her lipstick and other cosmetics.

When Wei Li saw that she was not speaking, he also fell silent. After a while, she still did not speak.

Wei Li tore the note off his face and nudged her arm. "Are all these things in the boxes down there?"

"Hmm," Zhao Xiheng responded listlessly.

"So you can use all of these faces?" Wei Li pinched Zhao Xiheng's cheek, which was smooth and not very big, but there were several boxes full of them. "Are you saving them for your daughter?"

Wei Li wondered if she would be able to have a daughter.

What if I don't have a daughter?

“So many colors.” Zhao Xiheng turned her head and pulled her hand away from his.

His fingers are rough, and he always likes to pinch his face, which is prickly.

Wei Li frowned. This tiny thing has several colors?

Aren't they all red?

He looked at Zhao Xiheng's mouth, propped his arm on the table, and leaned over to tear off the strips of paper from Zhao Xiheng's face one by one. "Your lips are quite red."

Zhao Xiheng took two steps back, her face slightly flushed, and raised her chin. "There are different kinds of red, so many kinds of red. I use a different kind every day."

"Then you won't be able to use it all."

Wei Li didn't care; Zhao Xiheng simply couldn't use it all.

The anger that Zhao Xiheng had suppressed suddenly flared up like a bottle of wine, and she shoved the lip rouge into his arms. "Then you can use whatever I can't use! You just complain that I buy too much, don't you? You're the one who told me to buy whatever I wanted, and now you're the one who's finding a way to say I buy too much!"

...

Wei Li was silent for a while, then said, "If that's how you think, there's nothing I can do."

He lifted the lid of the porcelain jar, stuck his finger in, and carelessly scooped out a large piece. He smelled it and said, "This smells different from what you usually smell like."

He was holding a peony fragrance in his hand.

Zhao Xiheng was so angry that her hair almost stood on end. She was also blushing with embarrassment, and she wished she could stand up and kick Wei Li a few times, and then run around the yard a few times to vent her anger.

I'm so angry! What do you mean by "it smells different from yours"? What do you mean by "if that's how you think, there's nothing I can do about it"?

You old lecher! You old rogue! You bastard! You scoundrel!

The problem is, she can't beat Wei Li! She can only get angry.

Seeing that she was so angry she was about to cry, with tears welling up in her eyes, Wei Li quickly put the things on the table. "Buy it, use it, and throw it away if you don't finish it. It's just a little money. You can throw gold down the drain if you want."

Zhao Xiheng turned her head away from him.

"Are you really angry, Zhao Xiheng?" Wei Li nudged her with his elbow.

How could she get angry? It's just a jar of lip balm! He can buy her so many, yet Zhao Xiheng values a jar of inexpensive lip balm more than him. She didn't even defend him like this when others spoke ill of him.

Zhao Xiheng wiped her eyes. "How could I dare to be angry with you? Whatever you say is right."

Wei Li took her hand and hooked her little finger around it. "Of course, whatever I say is right. I am your husband." After he finished speaking, his ears turned red again.

Zhao Xiheng was so angry that she didn't want to talk to him and pulled her finger away, but he was still talking to himself.

Seeing that something was wrong, the maid below quickly opened the box containing the clothes.

"My lord, the lady has also had several sets of clothes made for you."

Wei Li looked at the open trunk, which was piled full of clothes, and got off the kang (a heated brick bed) without putting on shoes.

There were four sets of clothes in the box.

One set each of black, white, red, and purple.

Zhao Xiheng had only ever seen Wei Li wear black, never other colors. Thinking that these colors were all heavy and he could pull them off, she casually pointed to those colors.

The most important thing was that the shopkeeper said he could give her a discount if she wanted those colors.

Wei Li casually stretched out his body, his heart burning with excitement, and then called out to Zhao Xiheng, "A-Dan..."

He abruptly stopped speaking and changed his words, saying, "Zhao Xiheng, look, the size is just right."

He had blurted it out subconsciously, as if Zhao Xiheng's childhood name had been on his tongue and throat a thousand times, just waiting for the right moment to be uttered. His Adam's apple bobbed as he looked at Zhao Xiheng's expression. Seeing no sign of disgust, he loosened his grip on his clothes.

When Zhao Xiheng heard him call her by her childhood name, she subconsciously looked in his direction and met his dark eyes.

The emotions in his eyes were complex, so complex that she had never seen them before and could not understand them, but they were passionate, intense, and bright.

Her heart skipped a beat when she saw that look, and she instinctively looked away.

Anyway, the money comes from the consumer, and he's spending his own money if he's happy.

Because Zhao Xiheng spent a lot of money, the clothing shop made the clothes look luxurious, with countless buckles and ties. Wei Li spent a long time fiddling with them, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Zhao Xiheng was angry with him, and she lowered her head to fidget with her fingers, not helping him. The other maids dared not get close to him and just let him do what he wanted.

Wei Li sat down on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed), wanting to strike up a conversation with Zhao Xiheng, but his throat was dry and he didn't know what to say. He just nudged her arm and stuffed the sash of his clothes into her hand, meaning he wanted Zhao Xiheng to help him fix it.

Zhao Xiheng threw the sash away. Anyway, Wei Li was just a paper tiger now. Even if she angered him, he would come back in a while. What was she afraid of? She would deal with him when he got really angry.

She herself didn't realize that she was becoming bolder and bolder in front of Wei Li. Ever since the night Wei Li said she was his wife, Zhao Xiheng's cautious and timid attitude towards Wei Li had gradually changed.

She tested Wei Li's limits little by little, only to find that he was only fierce on the surface and had no bottom line at all. For example, if he had really been gone for ten days or half a month, Zhao Xiheng might have been a little wary of him, but he came back after only two days.

People tend to bully the weak and fear the strong. When Wei Li softened his stance, Zhao Xiheng unconsciously hardened up.

"Zhao Xiheng!" Wei Li raised an eyebrow and called out to her, remembering the pockets full of New Year's money and the clothes she was wearing.

Even though Zhao Xiheng included his share when buying clothes for herself, his tone didn't become too harsh.

"Are you still angry?" he asked.

Zhao Xiheng pointed to the lip rouge on the table, "You scraped off a huge piece of it, and you still complained that I bought too much."

"I'll buy you more, as many as you want." Wei Li looked at the red marks on his hands, rubbed them, and didn't dare touch his clothes with his dirty fingers. "Tie up my clothes."

Hearing Wei Li soften his stance and say he would buy her more, Zhao Xiheng awkwardly stood up and said, "You said you'd buy it for me."

"Buy it." Wei Li nodded, then leaned closer.

He was wearing a red, maroon outfit, which had a festive feel to it for the New Year.

Wei Lisheng was very fair-skinned, with black hair and dark eyes. Wearing such a bright color made her appear even more radiant and flamboyant.

He was a thug who seemed ready to whip his whip and harass respectable women at any moment.

Naturally, he's a handsome, ruthless thug.

However, this bully was dressed in disheveled clothes, which was really inappropriate.

“Come up here, the ground is cold,” Zhao Xiheng said, grabbing his belt.

Wei Li stepped up, his momentum carrying him to Zhao Xiheng's side. Zhao Xiheng instinctively took a step back, her back hitting the wall, which felt icy cold. She couldn't help but hiss.

Seeing that her back was pressed against the wall, Wei Li put his arm around her waist and moved forward a few steps to create some distance between them.

"Are you dressed so flamboyantly to be a groom?" Although Zhao Xiheng's anger had subsided a bit, she still couldn't help but tease him.

"Didn't you buy this for me?" Wei Li looked at the red color.

"You just wear what I buy for you? You have no opinions at all." Zhao Xiheng muttered. Although she said that, she still felt a little sense of accomplishment that Wei Li could wear the clothes she had chosen.

"Then I won't wear what you bought for me, but will wear what other women bought for me?" Wei Li continued her nagging.

Zhao Xiheng thought to herself, "I wonder if you can find another woman willing to buy you clothes."

Aside from her, who was kidnapped, what good daughter would want to talk to you?

She said to Wei Li, "Then you go."

"I'll go right now," Wei Li said defiantly.

"Go! Go now!"

"I'm leaving now, Zhao Xiheng, don't regret it."

"Whoever regrets it is a little dog, go find him!"

"I'll go right now!"

The two of them talked back and forth, and Wei Li shouted louder and louder, but he didn't move an inch.

Wei Li had two knots tied around his neck, but they were tied in the wrong place. Zhao Xiheng stood on tiptoe and pressed her face against his neck, trying her best to untie them, but she couldn't. "Why don't you use scissors to cut them open?"

Because she was standing on tiptoe, she used her elbows to support herself on Wei Li's chest, getting very close. Her sweet, warm breath fell on the skin of Wei Li's neck. He rubbed his hands together, unsure of what to do, and his face and neck turned completely red.

Zhao Xiheng was about to get the scissors when Wei Li grabbed her hand, his Adam's apple bobbing rapidly. "Try it again."

"Hmm?" Zhao Xiheng glanced at him and shook her slightly sore hand.

Does he really like this outfit that much?
