Chapter Twenty-Five: Underground Crisis

Once the noise subsided, everyone realized that the croaking of the frogs seemed to have disappeared.

Looking towards the spot where the sound had disappeared, I could vaguely make out something round.

The person closest to the object pried at it twice with their foot, and finding no danger, squatted down and reached out to pick it up.

It felt sticky and cold to the touch, with a hard texture. I stood up and took a closer look!

Oh my god!

This is clearly a skull still covered in blood!

The man roared, "Ah!"

He flung the skull in his hand away before he could even examine it closely.

Oh my god! This is terrifying! My hands are sticky, and when I glanced at them, they were all red. Could it be blood?

After throwing it away, he saw the red blood on his hands and quickly wiped it on his clothes.

Everyone had a bad feeling about this. Thick fog surrounded them, there was no way to retreat behind them, and they couldn't see the end in front of them. They were like trapped lambs, and a suffocating danger was looming over them.

Chu Tianling felt his breathing quicken, and a familiar heaviness slowly spread through his body.

He thought to himself, how long has it been since he left this morning and he hasn't seen Jiaojiao? Why did she give him hope only to lose it again?

I shouldn't have left Jiaojiao this morning. What would happen to Jiaojiao if I died? Would she remarry?

That's true, after all, Jiaojiao is beautiful and young.

Some of the people around have already begun to break down.

"I...I don't want to die! I've never been married yet! Waaah..."

"I don't want to die either. I just got married and I can't bear to leave my wife."

"It's so cold! Do you guys feel cold too?"

The others naturally sensed it too!

Chu Tianling and his group stood still, shivering from the cold. They all slumped to the ground, their bodies going limp.

They didn't see that Chu Tianling was now completely enveloped in black mist, slowly spreading outwards.

The nearest guard had already fainted, his face pale and his lips purple.

Chu Tianling also collapsed to the ground, his eyes open and his gaze unfocused, his mind filled with images of Shen Jiaojiao living happily with someone else after she left.

His mouth was slightly open and closed, and if you got close, you could hear him calling out, "Jiaojiao! Don't go, I love you, Jiaojiao!"

Shen Jiaojiao had already reached the entrance of the cave halfway up the mountain. Suddenly, a thick black fog drifted out of the cave entrance.

Oh no! Something must have happened to Chu Tianling.

Everyone else couldn't see the fog, only Shen Jiaojiao could.

"Hurry inside! Something's happened to His Highness the Crown Prince!" Shen Jiaojiao cried out anxiously and led the way inside.

Fu Hang followed behind, looking completely bewildered. How come she seemed to know something?

Seeing the people who had already rushed in, he silently rushed in as well.

Suddenly the person in front stopped!

Fu Hang looked at the road and thought there was nothing special about it. He assumed she was afraid of the dark and was about to go forward to explore when a hand reached out and grabbed him.

The contrast between the fair, delicate hand gripping his black brocade robe was striking, and he couldn't help but look up at the owner of the hand.

With her porcelain-white face and large almond-shaped eyes, Shen Jiaojiao looked at him earnestly and said, "Don't go up there, there's a problem with the road."

"What's wrong?" Fu Hang glanced at her and quickly looked down! The more beautiful a woman is, the more potent her allure becomes. Just a glance earlier had made his heart race. Now, touching her through her clothes, not only was his heart pounding, but his face was burning.

He silently took two steps back. "My mother said I should stay away from women like that, or I'll get eaten alive." He lowered his head even further.

Shen Jiaojiao didn't know how to explain to people that she could see the black mist. Fortunately, the people in the manor were not talkative. They said that if there was a problem, they would send her away, saving her the trouble of explaining.

She carefully observed her surroundings and noticed a thin crack in the middle of the road from which the black mist was continuously leaking out.

After searching around without finding the mechanism, Shen Jiaojiao turned to Fu Hang and said, "Give me the sword!"

Fu Hang was stunned for a moment, and then dazedly handed over the sword in his hand. What he really wanted to say was, "My sword is a family heirloom, be careful!"

But after hesitating for a second, he was afraid that there would be bad consequences if he talked to her, after all, his mother had said that he should not talk to this kind of woman.

After hesitating for just a second, Shen Jiaojiao drew her sword and plunged it into the crevice.

The group of people behind her couldn't understand what she was doing, since none of them noticed the gap in the middle.

So what was presented to everyone was that Shen Jiaojiao suddenly stabbed the sword into the ground, forcefully stabbing it in. After half of it was inserted, she started to stick her head out, sticking it out with great force!

Fu Hang was heartbroken, his eyes fixed on Shen Jiaojiao, pupils dilated! No! Jian is my wife! Don't touch my wife! You wicked woman!

"What are you all standing there for? Come here quickly, there's a trap here, His Highness the Crown Prince should be down there!" Shen Jiaojiao was, after all, a woman, and her strength was relatively small.

After watching for a while, everyone realized that the Crown Princess was opening the passage.

They all stepped forward, inserted their swords, and pried together. With many hands making light work, the gap slowly widened, and Shen Jiaojiao saw the chain used to pull the mechanism.

He immediately shouted to the people behind him, "Someone come and cut the chain!"

Fu Hang stood there dumbfounded, staring at the sword in Shen Jiaojiao's hand that had bent at a 90-degree angle, clutching his chest with one hand, feeling so heartbroken that he couldn't breathe!

The hatred for killing one's wife is irreconcilable!

When I get home, I'll tell my mother that after I've finished making arrangements for my affairs, I'll come back and fight this vicious woman to the death!

To be fair, she doesn't know martial arts, so you don't need to use any weapons!

As the chain was cut, the entrance came into view, and a foul stench emanated from below. Upon closer inspection, it was pitch black down there.

Shen Jiaojiao stood up and looked at the sword in her hand, which was bent at a 90-degree angle. The sword was unusable, and she felt quite embarrassed.

She looked at Fu Hang shyly. This was the first time she had looked at this young man so seriously. He was 1.85 meters tall, wearing a black brocade robe that fit him perfectly, revealing his muscles. He had the physique of a muscular man, but he also had a fair and youthful face.

It was obvious from the expression on his face that he was angry!

Looking down at the sword in her hand, she felt even more embarrassed. She said awkwardly, "Um, I'm sorry, I broke your sword. When I get back to the manor, I'll have His Highness the Crown Prince replace it with a better one for you!"

Fu Hang had already decided to duel her to avenge his beloved sword, but she kindly apologized to him. He then remembered what his mother had told him: if you do something wrong, you should apologize to people, and they will say it's okay!

So now you need to answer that it's okay?

Fu Hang was in agony. He said sadly, "The duel is a must. I'll go home and say goodbye to my mother first. For now, I'll deal with this. You have to be ruthless to a vicious woman!"

He answered stiffly, "It's alright!" He carefully took the bent sword, tore off a strip of cloth, and carried the sword on his back.
