Ian waved his hand and said, "It's okay. It's a good thing to be vigilant. Are you a mage or a warrior? Have you got your enrollment certificate?"
Gu Shi asked with some confusion: "I am a mage, what is my enrollment certificate?"
Ian said, "I guess you don't know. Just go to the Mage Association and tell the receptionist that you're here to get your enrollment certificate."
"They'll take you to take a talent test, and then you'll have to fill out some identity information. As long as your talent meets the requirements, they'll issue you an admission certificate, free of charge. However, if you don't meet the requirements, you'll have to pay a testing fee."
"I don't know anything about it. Thank you, senior. Could you tell me more about the precautions?" This was a rare opportunity to learn about Congleton School of Magic, so Gu Shi certainly had to seize it.
Ian agreed immediately: "Of course."
The two found a bench in the square, sat down and started chatting, and many of Gu Shi’s questions were answered.
Before they knew it, it was getting late and Gu Shi said goodbye to Ian.
Ian then said, "Gu Shi, I have a batch of magic wands here. Would you like to take a look? I made them all myself, so the quality is absolutely flawless. Although the workmanship isn't as good as those sold in stores, the price is much lower than the market price."
Gu Shi was not surprised. From the very beginning, he knew that Ian was talking to him with a purpose.
He said politely, "Thank you, Senior, but no need, I already have a staff."
Although the attributes weren't quite right, he hadn't lied to Ian. As for the wind and ice wands, he'd buy them at the store later. The school would reimburse them anyway, and Ian wasn't the intended audience for these wands.
Ian didn't get angry, he shrugged and said, "Okay, if you have any alchemy questions in the future, you can come to me and I'll give you a 20% discount.
This is for you. You can use it to contact me via messenger after you enroll."
Ian handed Gu Shi a transparent glass ball and left.
Ian did deliberately try to talk to Gu Shi in order to sell his staff. Even if Gu Shi refused, he would still have made a good match today. More friends mean more opportunities, and maybe he could get Gu Shi's business in the future.
There was no other way. Learning magic was expensive, and learning alchemy was even more expensive. Ian's father was just a small businessman, who could barely afford to let him learn magic, but he couldn't afford alchemy. He could only find a way to make more money on his own.
He has been looking for targets in the city for some time and has successfully sold many staffs. After all, the staffs in regular stores are too expensive for ordinary people. Even low-level staffs start at twenty or thirty gold.
Although the wands he made were not as good as those sold in the store, they could definitely be used as a transition in the early stages. They were even more of a timely help to some civilian students who could not afford wands, after all, they were a necessity for learning magic.
