Chapter 51 The Holy See of Light

As Field took out the teleportation scroll from the space prop, a figure shrouded in black mist appeared near them.

Seeing this group of humans, the lich raised the staff made of dead wood in his hand, and a black beam of light filled with dark magic shot towards them rapidly.

Seeing this scene, Marshall's pupils constricted and he shouted, "Hurry up, he's coming!"

Field immediately tore open the space scroll, but it was too late. The dark beam of light directly penetrated the magic barrier and split into many beams that attacked them.

Gu Shi saw that one of the beams of light was shooting towards the head of the person next to him, but the student just stood there in a daze.

Without time to think, Gu Shi reached out and pushed the student away, but he was accidentally hit in the forearm by another beam of light.

Although Gu Shi had an elemental shield to protect himself, how could the spells of a mere fourth-level mage like him possibly block the attack of an eighth-level lich?

Intense pain rose from the part that was hit. Gu Shi covered his forearm and almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, the teleportation scroll was activated successfully. A white light flashed before his eyes, and they returned to Langari's teleportation tower.

The attack just now not only hit Gu Shi, but also all of them were killed.

The three mentors were fine. Except for Marshall, the other two were wearing various alchemical tools, so the beam did not cause any damage even if it hit them.

But the students were different. They all had wounds on their bodies to varying degrees. One student was even unlucky enough to be hit by five beams of light and fainted.

Seeing how miserable they were, the priests who had been waiting in the teleportation tower immediately stepped forward to treat them, and the students who had been sent back earlier also gathered around with concern.

Before using the teleportation scroll to come back, Ilsa instructed them to report the appearance of dark magic in the Warcraft Forest to the City Lord's Mansion and the Holy See of Light immediately after returning to Langari, and to invite the priests of the Holy See of Light to the teleportation point.

They all did as they were told.

Ilsa originally asked the students to invite a priest over just in case, but she didn't expect that it would actually be needed now.

No one expected that they would encounter an eighth-level lich in the Warcraft Forest.

With the priests' continuous healing and purification treatments, the wound on Gu Shi's hand healed quickly, but a strange black mark was left at the original injured position.

The same goes for everyone else, even Marshall, a seventh-rank swordsman.

Perhaps because he mastered the magic of life, Gu Shi always felt a chill in his heart when he looked at the mark on his hand.

Looking at the marks on their bodies that could not be removed even with purification, several priests gathered together to discuss.

Finally, one of the oldest priests came forward and said to them, "From what we have deduced, these marks on your bodies are a curse.

We are not strong enough to remove this curse. Please come with us to the church. The bishop should be able to deal with the curse on you."

"Thank you so much, then. Come on, I'll take you to the church." Ilsa turned to Field and said, "Brother, please go back to the City Lord's Mansion and tell them about the lich appearing in the Monster Forest. After all, you know the situation best."

Field nodded. "I understand. We'll meet at the church later."

After saying that, he left the teleportation tower and headed straight for the City Lord's Mansion.

Hearing their conversation, the priest asked in disbelief, "You actually encountered a lich in the forest?! What's going on?"

Ilsa soothed him, "Calm down. I'll go to the church and discuss the details with the bishop later. Please wait a moment."

Seeing that she was busy, the pastor did not insist and turned to discuss with several other companions.

Ilsa looked at the other students gathered around and said to them, "There's something unusual happening in the Monster Forest, so the training camp can't continue. I'll take you back to Congleton first."

After saying that, she asked Gu Shi and the others to wait here for a while, and she took the other forty or so students upstairs and sent them all back to Congleton through the teleportation array.

After sending everyone away, Ilsa took Gu Shi and a few others who were cursed, and followed the priests to the cathedral in Langari. The unconscious student was carried on Marshall's back.

It was the first time that Gu Shi had seen such a holy and elegant church. When he was on Blue Star, he had only been to temples or Taoist temples. This was the first time he had seen such a Western-style church.

The priest took them to a reception room and asked them to rest there for a while while he went to report the current situation to the bishop.

Marshall placed the student he was carrying on a seat nearby, and the others also found their seats and sat down.

The student who had been pushed away by Gu Shi walked up to him and said to him gratefully, "Thank you so much for what you did just now, Gu Shi. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I had been hit on the head."

He didn't react to what happened at the time. Fortunately, Gu Shi pushed him. Although he was hit in the leg again, the gap between the head and the leg was too big. If he was hit in the head, he would definitely faint.

Gu Shi: "It's nothing, I'm glad you're okay."

After a while, a kind-looking old man pushed open the door of the reception room, and the pastor followed him in a very proper manner.

He spoke gently, "Hello, I'm Charles, the bishop of this church. Henry told me that you encountered a lich in the Monster Forest and were cursed by him, right? Let me see what the mark looks like."

Ilsa stood up and greeted him. "Hello, Bishop Charles. I'll be troubling you with my companions and students."

"Nothing, this is what I should do."

Charles walked over to the unconscious student and carefully examined the curse marks on the other people's bodies.

After observing for a while, Charles said, "I've seen this mark in the Vatican's collection, but I need to look up its specific effects and how to remove it. After all, I'm old, and my memory isn't very good."

Hearing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. It would be great if there was a way to remove it. After all, it always made people feel uneasy to have such an evil mark on their bodies.

"Then could you please tell me the details of what happened in the forest? After all, for a major event like the appearance of a lich, we need more detailed information." After solving the problem of the curse, Charles changed the subject.

Ilsa told Bishop Charles what they had encountered in the forest, and Maher also added a few words.

Then she added: "It was our other mentor, Field Burns, who first discovered the lich, and the rest of us only caught a glimpse of it at the end.

However, he is still at the City Lord's Mansion, so the specific situation will have to wait until he arrives and he will communicate with you."

Charles nodded to show that he understood. Seeing that they all looked tired, he asked the guards outside to take them to the guest rooms to rest.

Ilsa did not refuse. It was unknown how long it would take for Field to arrive, so it would be a good idea to let the students rest.
