Chapter 13 The Tenth Blind Date (Part 3)

On the morning of the 29th day of the lunar year, Su Tiantian woke up to the sound of her alarm. She turned it off. It was 8 o'clock. She had to go out at 9 o'clock today, so getting up at 8 o'clock was not too late. She thought she had given herself a long vacation and a few days of good rest, but she ended up being busy every day after returning home. She really looked forward to no morning alarm clocks, no meeting reminders, no constant phone calls and WeChat messages, only the leisurely sunshine and free air. The pre-Chinese New Year sales season is peak season, with all kinds of orders to be matched, checked, shipped, tracked, and new customers to be found. Su Tiantian felt that her lack of weight was definitely due to work. Su Tiantian thought that during her next vacation, she would go out for a walk and relax.

Thinking that she was going to visit the flower market today, it would be inconvenient to wear a skirt. She looked at her mobile phone and saw that the temperature was 15 degrees Celsius, so Su Tiantian changed into a black turtleneck sweater, a beige vest, a beige long wool coat, a pair of fleece-lined black plaid pants, and a pair of black flat boots, looking comfortable and elegant.

Breakfast was zongzi, one for each person. They were Su Tiantian's favorite, made with salted duck eggs, pork belly, dried scallops, mung beans, and glutinous rice. Su Jinyuan made over 30 of them, sending six to Su Tiantian's aunt's house and keeping the rest in the refrigerator. Whenever they wanted to eat them, they could just steam them for 20 minutes. Su Tiantian saw that her parents weren't home, so she guessed they were out shopping.

Su Zhihao also got up and had breakfast. He asked, "Sister, I'll go pick up Aling to go to the flower market. Do you want to go?" Su Tiantian said, "I want to go to the flower market too. Someone will pick me up at nine o'clock." Then she told Su Zhihao what happened at her third cousin's house last night and the subsequent conversation. The two siblings had a good relationship since they were young, and there was nothing worth hiding.

After breakfast, Su Zhihao left on his motorcycle. Su Tiantian waited at home, waiting. It was 9:20, and Guang still hadn't arrived. She sent a WeChat message to Guang, but after 10 minutes, he replied, saying he didn't have a car and couldn't accompany her to the flower market. Su Tiantian thought to herself, "How strange! Wasn't he on his motorcycle yesterday? It seems he doesn't want to go with me."

At this time, Su Zhihao came back with A Ling. Seeing Su Tiantian was still at home, he asked, "Sister, didn't you go out to the flower market at nine o'clock?" Su Tiantian shrugged and said, "Your sister was stood up. She said she had no car and wouldn't come." Su Zhihao said, "Do you want to go to the flower market with us? I'll buy you a big peach blossom. I'll drive a tricycle, so you don't have to hire a car to transport the oranges and flowers. You can drive the motorcycle to take A Ling." A Ling said, "No, I'll drive the motorcycle to take Sister Tiantian." Doesn't it seem to make any difference?

The three of us set off together. The road to the flower market was packed with people—old, middle-aged, young, and even children—all beaming with joy, creating a truly festive atmosphere. There was even a traffic jam along the way, and after searching for a parking spot, we finally found one. We squeezed through the crowds and slowly made our way into the flower market. It was bustling with activity, divided into sections selling Spring Festival couplets, oranges, and flowers, creating a festive atmosphere. At the first stall in the flower area, Su Tiantian was so excited when she saw the pots of yellow daidai fruit in various shapes that she couldn't move. She picked up her phone and took pictures again and again. When she saw a pot she particularly liked, she asked the price. The shopkeeper said 288 yuan, which she thought was a bit expensive. Just as she was about to bargain, A Ling whispered in her ear, "This is just the first stall. There may be more beautiful and cheaper ones in the back. Take a look before you buy." Su Tiantian nodded. At this time, her phone rang. It was her third cousin's wife. She pressed the answer button: "Tiantian, where are you now?" Su Tiantian said, "I'm at the flower market looking at flowers." Her third cousin's wife said, "Didn't A Guang come to pick you up to go to the flower market?" Su Tiantian said as she walked and looked at the flowers, "Yes, he said he wouldn't come because he didn't have a car."

The third cousin's wife sighed, "I don't know whether to be angry or amused. The boss's wife just called me and said that A Guang called to tell her that his motorcycle was taken away by his brother and his house is far from the bus stop, so he couldn't go to the flower market with you. The boss's wife was almost mad." Su Tiantian said, "What's there to be angry about? If you don't want to come, then forget it." The third cousin's wife said, "It's not that I don't want to come, it's really because we don't have a car. A Guang's family only has one motorcycle, and his brother took it away, so he can't drive it. The boss's wife scolded him for not paying attention to his own affairs. If you don't have a car, can't you just call a Didi? What's more important, the date or the fare?"

Su Tiantian said: "He didn't tell me earlier that he didn't have a car. It was only after I saw that the agreed time had passed and sent him a message that he slowly responded."

The third cousin's wife said, "A Guang is an honest man, but sometimes he's not very flexible. The boss lady was afraid you'd be angry, so she asked me to call you to explain. Tiantian, don't be angry. The boss lady said it was A Guang's fault. She'll have him treat you to a meal and apologize some other day."

Su Tiantian said: "There's no need to apologize over dinner, third cousin, I'm going to hang up. It's too noisy here, there are too many people selling and buying flowers." In fact, Su Tiantian felt like she had let go of something since A Guang broke the appointment. She felt that she and A Guang had different circles of life, and she agreed to go out on a date to give face to her third cousin and to give herself a chance. Since the other person was going to give up now, she might as well go with the flow and not contact him.

The third cousin's wife said, "Okay, okay, buy a big peach tree and have some romantic luck."
