They went to the idyllic courtyard beyond. The setting sun cast a lasting glow over the red-brick, green-tiled house. Rows of long, straight bamboos rustled in the wind, their leaves seemingly cheering. In the vegetable garden, a variety of greens grew, some still tender, others already sprouting yellow cauliflower. A little further along, roses of all colors bloomed beautifully. There was also a fish pond, flanked by willow trees. Red lanterns hung from the eaves, their lights flickering softly, creating a festive New Year atmosphere.
Everyone entered a private room. Su Zhihao had already arrived. It should be the waiter who took him to the parking lot just now who brought him in. When he saw everyone coming in, he immediately stood up a little awkwardly. Liu Liangjie smiled and said, his loud voice rang out in the room: "Sit down, you're welcome." Everyone sat down in turn. Grandma Lu asked Liu Jingze to sit on her right and asked Su Tiantian to sit on Liu Jingze's right, so the two had to sit together. Two waiters poured tea for everyone. Liu Liangjie said: "Happy New Year, here, I'll give you red envelopes, one from my mother and one from me." He handed two red envelopes to Su Tiantian, who took them with both hands and said: "Thank you Grandma Lu, thank you Uncle Liu." Su Zhihao and Li Yunling also received red envelopes, and they also took them with both hands and said: "Thank you Grandma Lu, thank you Uncle Liu." Su Jinyuan and Sang Yimei gave Liu Jingze a red envelope each, and Liu Jingze took it with both hands and said: "Thank you Uncle Su, thank you Aunt Su."
Grandma Lu said, "Next year you don't have to receive red envelopes, you have to give them out." Sang Yimei said, "Aunt Lu just wants to drink grandson's daughter-in-law tea." Grandma Lu said, "Of course, our Jingze is almost 30 years old." Grandma Lu said, "Jingze, look, Zhihao is a few years younger than you, and he already has such a beautiful girlfriend." Su Zhihao and Li Yunling lowered their heads and said nothing.
Liu Jingze was used to what his grandmother said and did not refute: "Grandma is right, I will find you a granddaughter-in-law as soon as possible." Then he asked the waiter to serve the dishes.
The waiter brought the dishes, a bountiful spread: scallops with taro, braised pork with five spices, goose with five flavors, roast pork and pigeon, seared prawns, braised mushrooms with sea cucumber, sweet and sour spareribs, shiitake mushrooms with cashews, mustard greens in broth, and steamed dried shrimp with scrambled eggs. Liu Jingze said, "Take a look at what else you'd like to order. You can place your order now." The waiter handed everyone a menu. With ten dishes on the table, how could it possibly be full? No one ordered anything else. Liu Jingze said, "We'll also have porridge, dim sum, and dessert later." He seemed to have made careful arrangements. Grandma Lu said, "Let's eat, or the food will get cold." Everyone began to eat. Liu Liangjie and Su Jinyuan spoke mostly.
When they were almost done eating, the porridge, dim sum, and dessert arrived. The porridge was lettuce and meatball porridge, the dim sum was pancake and radish cake, and the desserts included red bean paste and sweet potato syrup. Liu Jingze whispered to Su Tiantian beside him, "Tiantian, this is the pancake I told you about. It's beautiful and delicious. Try it." Su Tiantian took a piece; it was tender, smooth, and sweet. Not bad. Liu Liangjie said, "This lettuce and meatball porridge is good, Jinyuan. I remember you liked it." Su Jinyuan said, "Yes." Everyone was quite full.
At this time, Liu Jingze said, "Uncle Su, Aunt Su, I want to take Tiantian out for a walk and then send her home. Is that okay?" Su Jinyuan and Sang Yimei looked at Su Tiantian. Seeing Su Tiantian nod, they said, "Okay, please Jingze send her back as soon as possible."
