An angry man's voice rang out loudly: "We didn't drive the confinement nanny away. She said she didn't want to work anymore. Besides, she's not a good person at all, and she demands such a high salary. If you have this money, why not give it to my mother? She can take care of you during your confinement period."
The woman chuckled twice, her voice full of sarcasm. "After all, you're my son's father, yet you refuse to pay and even try to cheat my family out of their money. Are you a jerk? I was completely out of my mind to marry someone like you."
An elderly woman's anxious voice followed: "The baby is crying, and has been crying for so long. Hurry up and comfort the child. Check if he is hungry. You are such a cruel mother. How could you treat a baby like this?"
Then a voice familiar to Li Yunling came: "Maternity lady, please calm down. It has only been five days since you had the operation. Standing like this for a long time, holding the baby, is not good for your health." It was Director Wu's voice.
The woman's voice was a little hysterical. "A doctor who has nothing to do with me was concerned about my health every day, and you, my relatives, always wanted to harm me. My baby weighed 9.4 kilograms, and the doctor said the chances of a natural birth were extremely low. But you insisted on a natural birth to save money. I was in pain all day and all night and almost died. If my mother hadn't come and argued with you, offering to pay for a C-section, you wouldn't have allowed it. My baby has such a vicious grandmother and a vicious father. I don't know how much suffering he will have to endure in this life. What's the point of going hungry and crying?"
The man's voice was a little weak. "What are you talking about? Others can give birth naturally, why can't you? I won't let you go until my son starves."
One woman said: "Family members of the mother, please do not stimulate her. She is very fragile physically and mentally and emotionally unstable shortly after giving birth."
Director Wu spoke again: "How about you sit down first and talk slowly if you have anything to say, okay?"
Li Yunling became even more curious as she listened to the noisy sound. She stood on tiptoe, trying to see what was going on inside.
With everyone around her talking, she finally pieced together the general situation. It turned out the woman in Ward 7 had undergone a vaginal delivery, converted to a cesarean section, and was experiencing postpartum emotional instability after giving birth to a large baby. Apparently, there had been a family dispute over hiring a confinement nanny, and the nanny had quit. The woman was clamoring to go to a confinement center, but her family disagreed.
At this moment, a woman's voice suddenly roared in anger and tears from the crowd: "Your whole family is extremely vicious. Not only did you abuse me, you also abused the confinement nanny and forced her to quit her job. You said I needed a light diet after giving birth. It's ok that I didn't eat a piece of meat for five days after giving birth, but you didn't even let the confinement nanny eat meat. The confinement nanny couldn't support me because I was too fat. I asked you to help, but you didn't want to. You also didn't let the confinement nanny feed me with formula, saying that breast milk is better. Isn't it just to save money? I'm too weak and I don't have enough milk."
Then there was a loud bang, as if something had been smashed. The baby's cry became louder and louder, the sharp sound seemed to penetrate the eardrum.
The woman's voice was filled with hatred and determination: "I want a divorce. My son is mine, and I want to take him away. If you refuse to pay child support, I'll see you in court."
The elderly woman said, "Divorce if you want. This is my Qiu family's grandson. He must stay. My son is so outstanding. He will find someone who is ten times better than you."
Li Yunling couldn't help herself and squeezed in through the gap in the crowd. She saw that the ward was in a mess, with broken cups and scattered debris all over the floor.
A very obese woman in labor, her hair disheveled, stood by the window, holding her child. Her eyes were red and her face was covered with tears. The child was crying non-stop. She was screaming hysterically at the man and an elderly woman next to her: "Divorce, divorce! You even want my family to pay for the birth of the child, and you still want to find someone ten times better than me. I was blind to marry your son."
The man looked helpless and irritated.
The old woman's eyes were fixed on the crying baby, and she kept muttering, "Baby, don't cry, baby, don't cry..."
The security personnel began to evacuate the crowd. Li Yunling took another look at the haggard and extremely sad woman in labor, then returned to Su Tiantian's ward and told her everything that had happened there.
"Why are there all kinds of people in this world?" Su Tiantian sighed.
Liu Jingze stopped what he was doing, walked to the bedside and held Su Tiantian's hand: "Indeed, there are all kinds of people. Let's just live our own lives well."
Looking at the baby girl drinking from a bottle in Aunt Li's arms, Su Tiantian said, "I feel very lucky. I only had minor pains during the day and night before giving birth. But that woman was in great pain for that day and night. With such a big baby, she actually wanted a natural birth and switched from a natural birth to a cesarean. That must have been very painful."
Aunt Yang said: "Converting from a vaginal delivery to a cesarean section is very painful. The last woman I cared for was like this. She took injections to induce labor for two days but still couldn't give birth. The doctor said that if she delayed any longer, she would suffer from oxygen deprivation, so she had to have a cesarean section. When she got out of bed the next day, she almost cried in pain."
Wu Xilun said, "Mr. Liu, Mrs. Liu, Mr. Liu is almost at the hospital. I told him he wouldn't be discharged until around 11 o'clock, and told him not to worry. He said Mrs. Liu urged him to go out at around 6 o'clock in the morning, but he delayed for an hour before leaving."
Yun Suiyang said, "Old Lady Liu is so eager to come here in person, how could she not urge Mr. Liu?"
As he was speaking, a nurse came in and said, "Su Tiantian, go to the front desk nurse station to weigh yourself. Can you walk there? I think you can. You're all going to be discharged today. If you can't, ask your family to go to the nurse station to borrow a wheelchair."
Liu Jingze said: "Okay. We'll go over later."
