080 Ge Yulan's Determination (1/2)

On the other side, after Huo Zhendong saw the young couple disappear in the heavy rain, he reminded Ge Yulan to leave quickly.

The rain was still falling heavily at this time. Huo Zhendong's umbrella was not big, so it was a bit difficult for two people to share one umbrella.

Just after walking ten meters, Ge Yulan's shoulders and back were soaked.

She looked up at the umbrella on Huo Zhendong's side and felt a lump in her heart.

Huo Zhendong ignored her emotions and walked forward. Ge Yulan was a head shorter than him and couldn't keep up with him.

But not only did he not show any intention of stopping to wait for her, he complained that she was walking too slowly and was too troublesome.

"Can you walk faster? Why are you dawdling in such heavy rain? I'll wait for you at the station first, you just take your time getting wet..."

Ge Yulan looked at the umbrella and footsteps that were getting farther and farther away from her, and suddenly recalled what Jian Si Ning once said:

"The umbrella that doesn't lean towards you on a rainy day and the footsteps that you need to work hard to catch up with are both because you don't care."

Suddenly, she felt her eyes getting sore, as if tears were flowing out and mixing with the rain and rolling into the corners of her mouth.

The taste was just as bitter and astringent as the days she had lived over the years.

When she got home, Ge Yulan was soaked all over. The water from her trouser legs kept flowing into her shoes, and her shoes kept slipping with every step.

When she rushed to the train station, Huo Zhendong had already left on the previous train, and she came back in the rain on the next train.

As soon as I entered the living room, I saw a basin full of clothes in the corner. It looked like the clothes that the father and daughter had not washed for a week.

She had just opened the bedroom door and was about to get some clothes to change when Huo Zhendong, who was drying his hair, threw a pair of soaked socks at her, complaining in dissatisfaction:

"Why are you so slow? Go make some ginger tea for Yingying. Her hair is soaked when she comes back. The rain in summer is poisonous. Also, it's time to wash Penyi's clothes. It's been five or six days. You have to come back every day. Summer clothes will become sour if you don't wash them in one day."

Huo Zhendong muttered a lot and then looked up at Ge Yulan, who was soaking wet.

She stood at the door like a sculpture, with no expression on her face, just looking at him numbly.

"Why are you wet? Why don't you find a place to hide from the rain? Are you a pig? Why are you still standing there? The water is all over the floor..."

The string in Ge Yulan's heart that was about to break finally snapped.

These years, she seemed to be living in an invisible cage, tortured by Huo Zhendong's mental violence and left her body covered with scars.

It seemed like she could no longer endure this suffocating life, because if it continued she might not survive.

She looked at Huo Zhendong with empty eyes, her voice hoarse and sarcastic: "Yes! I am a pig. If I were not a pig, how could I be so stupid to put up with you for so many years? If I were a human being with self-respect and temper, I would have left long ago."

"What's wrong with you? Why are you talking so much? Go change your clothes, tidy up the house, and make some ginger tea for your daughter." Huo Zhendong habitually chose to ignore and play dumb when conflicts arose.

He knew that it wouldn't be long before this woman could coax him into submission, and life would go on as usual afterwards.

But this time it doesn't seem like it.

Ge Yulan did not swallow a mouthful of grievance as she had done before, but instead angrily shouted out her dissatisfaction:

"Is this what you meant by asking me to come back and take a rest? In fact, I just want to continue to serve you and that ungrateful little bastard?"

"What kind of bullshit are you talking about? What do you mean by serving us? Isn't it your job to take care of the family? If you don't do it, who will? Do you want a grown man like me to do the laundry and cook?"

Ge Yulan looked at him numbly with red eyes, his self-righteous expression on his face, and her heart broke.
