148 First visit to Ke's house (2/2)

"Are you going to die? I've been using this clay pot for more than ten years, and today you broke it. If you can't even do something as simple as this, how can you have the face to eat?"

Lu Mianmian also followed and saw that it was Ke Xiaomei who dropped the earthenware pot of stewed chicken on the ground.

The hot soup on the ground was steaming. Little sister Ke huddled beside the cupboard, buried her head and dared not say a word.

"She can't even cook a meal. It's better to raise a pig than a pig." Father Ke came over to take a look, threw down a scolding, and went back to reading the newspaper.

"Oh my~ My little sister is too impulsive. The meat has fallen to the ground. How unhygienic! It's a pity for my precious jar." The eldest sister-in-law obviously had an attitude of watching the fun and not minding the trouble.

The eldest brother was afraid that it would affect his unborn child, so he quickly helped his wife away.

Lu Mianmian found it unbelievable that such a hot soup pot fell to the ground, but no one in their family cared whether Ke Xiaomei was burned. They just kept scolding her and then felt sorry for the broken pot.

Could it be that my daughter and sister are not as good as a jar?

Lu Mianmian looked up at Ke Shiqiang. She wanted to see what his attitude would be.

If he is the same as those people, then she really doesn't want this man anymore.

Ke Shiqiang went to find a mop, then asked the mother and daughter to go out first while he went in to clean the scene.

Seeing this, Lu Mianmian finally felt a little comforted. She stepped forward and took Ke Xiaomei's arm, whispering to comfort her:

"It's okay. It's just one jar. If they blame you, I'll buy them another one. Take me to your room and I'll put some medicine on the burn on your hand."

After hearing this, Ke Xiaomei hid her injured hand behind her back and said awkwardly, "I... I don't have a room."

Lu Mianmian was stunned for a moment. She looked around the house and found that there were only three bedrooms in total.

The Ke family's parents had one room, the eldest brother and his wife had one room, and Ke Shiqiang had one room. There was really no place for Ke's younger sister to stay.

Lu Mianmian's heart suddenly tightened. In order to ease her embarrassment, she tried to lower her voice: "Where are you going to sleep tonight?"

Xiaomei Ke pointed to the direction of the sofa in the living room, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

"Sofa?" How inconvenient is it for a 16- or 17-year-old girl to sleep on the sofa in the living room at night?

Seeing her frown, Ke Xiaomei misunderstood her meaning. She almost begged Lu Mianmian, "Second sister-in-law, I know you and my second brother are getting married soon. Please let me live on the sofa for a year. I will find a job as soon as possible. I don't want to get married at such a young age. Please."

Lu Mianmian was stunned by her words. What on earth was she saying?

"Don't worry, this is your home. I won't chase you away, and I don't plan to marry your second brother so soon."

After hearing what Lu Mianmian said, Ke Xiaomei suddenly became even more nervous, so Lu Mianmian simply took her to the clinic outside to get some medicine.

When she came back, Ke's mother had already prepared dinner, but she looked at Ke Xiaomei with a displeased look.

"You don't have the life of a lady, but you have all the diseases of a lady. It's just a couple of blisters from a burn, but you're making such a fuss about it!"

"Auntie, it's not good to have scars on a girl's hands. It won't cost much to apply some medicine. I've paid for her." Lu Mianmian's tone was full of dissatisfaction.

"You..." Mother Ke wanted to say something but was interrupted by Ke Shiqiang.

"Mom, Mianmian is right. Girls need to be more delicate. You still have to pay more attention to my little sister. She is the only girl in our family. Please don't treat her unfairly. She has injured her hand, so don't let her do housework for the time being."

Although Ke's mother was obviously dissatisfied, she didn't say anything.

Lu Mianmian didn't find anything tasty about this meal because most of the dishes on the table were made with onions and leeks, which she didn't like. She knew it was not a good match.

If it weren't for the fact that Ke Shiqiang still looked like a brother to her, she would have left long ago.

After finishing her meal, she immediately stood up and said goodbye, and Ke Shiqiang immediately followed her out to see her off.

When he came back after sending Lu Mianmian to the bus, he heard his elder brother's mockery at the door:

"Some people become slaves before they even marry their wives. Won't they be completely oppressed by them in the future?"

Ke Shiqiang glanced over with a proud look:

"What do you know? She is the only daughter of the Lu family. Not only does she run a restaurant now, but her parents' pension also belongs to her. If I marry her, all of it will be mine."
