10 Linzi (Part 3)
◎No one will laugh at you◎
The three of them immediately understood what he meant, and all agreed that they would rather fight to the death with this group of people than be trapped in it forever. Seeing this, the demon soldiers all had ferocious expressions on their faces and pounced on them with their teeth and claws bared.
Qu Lingfei drew his sword and thrust it out, shouting, "Thank you, brother. I'm here to help you!"
The two men quickly engaged the demonic soldier, their red silk ribbons shrouded in darkness. The man in black glanced sideways and sneered, "Little brother, it's been years since we last met. I didn't expect you'd made such a great group of friends."
However, Nangong Xiu was unwilling to say a word to him, and his swordsmanship was not like the one when he competed with Xie Changyan just now. Now he just swung his sword around randomly, but each move was fierce and aimed directly at the vital points, forcing the man in black to be unable to withdraw and had to raise his sword to block.
Li Jintang had never witnessed such a scene. Seeing Qiuyan, trapped between two demon soldiers and about to retreat outside the barrier, she immediately drew her dagger and stabbed him fiercely. Fearing that the demon soldier would not die, she stabbed him twice more. Blood spurted out instantly, splattering her clothes crimson.
"Sister Qiuyan, we can't defeat them," Li Jintang pulled her hand, quickly dodging several attacks and hiding behind a stone wall. "We can set up some traps so we don't have to fight them head-on."
Qiu Yan stared at her for a moment, then sheathed his sword and did as she said.
After battling for who knows how long, Qu Lingfei's arms were already numb and sore. A sudden claw scratched his left arm, leaving a deep scratch. He hissed, kicked the demon away, and turned to look at the person beside him. "How's Brother Xie? Are you still holding on?"
Xie Changyan caught his gaze, flicked his fingers, and several silver needles flew out, shooting away the demons that pounced on Qu Lingfei. He said calmly, "Take care of yourself."
"Since we're here, don't leave anyone behind!"
Qu Lingfei thrust his sword forward, struggling to hold off the attacking demon soldiers, but the force still forced him back. He stepped back, managing to steady himself, and tilted his head to look at his blood-soaked shirt, which now dangled precariously from his left arm.
In the midst of the crisis, he turned around, but Qiuyan was nowhere to be found. His heart felt like it was being yanked hard, and cold sweat immediately soaked his back. A terrifying thought loomed in his mind - would something happen to his junior sister?
As he thought of this, another wave of demon soldiers rushed forward. He coughed up a mouthful of blood and had no energy to fight back anymore. As he closed his eyes and waited for death, the branches above his head fell down with a snap, and with a few loud bangs, they directly crushed the demon soldiers.
The girl poked her head out from behind a branch, her eyes filled with worry as she called out, "Brother, are you okay?"
Qu Lingfei originally thought that she was dead, but when that face suddenly appeared, he felt greatly relieved. He then raised his sword again and with a swish, he ripped away a nearby demon soldier.
"I'm fine, take care of yourself!" He couldn't hide the smile on his face and said loudly.
It turned out that she had just jumped onto the branch as she was told, and then reached out to pull Li Jintang up. The two of them ambushed among the branches and leaves, and used their spiritual power to chop off a thick branch, overwhelming a large group of monsters.
Suddenly, a green light flashed before her eyes, and a poisonous needle pierced in front of her. Li Jintang was startled and hurriedly waved her knife to block it. Unexpectedly, the force was so strong that she deflected the poisonous needle but could not help falling backwards.
"Atang!"
Qiuyan screamed and reached out to grab her, but she missed and watched her fall with a silk ribbon in her hand.
In the crisis, Li Jintang swung the dagger with all her strength, and the blade pierced the tree trunk diagonally. She gripped the handle tightly and used the force to barely stand firm.
"I'm fine." There was some dust on her face. She raised her head, still feeling frightened, but still smiled at the person in the tree.
Qiuyan's face was still full of joy when she suddenly said in horror, "Watch out behind you!"
There was no time to think, she turned her wrist and swung the sword downwards, just in time to pierce the vital point of a demon soldier.
The demon soldiers were pressing down like a dark cloud. Li Jintang knew that he could not defeat them, so he quickly stepped forward, picked up the hilt of the sword, turned around and ran away.
"Don't chase me anymore." The dagger was placed at her waist. She had several stones in her hand and threw them back without caring whether she could hit the target or not.
The book of destiny in his arms half-peeked out and said anxiously, "Run, girl, run! We're about to be caught!"
When I was exhausted, I suddenly heard a familiar voice behind me: "You didn't throw it accurately..."
Li Jintang suddenly stamped her feet, her face still flushed as she stared at him intently.
Some of the stones that were thrown out just now fell on the ground, while some were held in the boy's hands.
He casually tossed one of them up, and then let it fall steadily into the palm of his hand. Soon, he walked in front of the girl.
"Miss Li isn't good at fighting, but she's quite fast at running," Xie Changyan lowered his eyes, a hint of joking emanating from them. "If you're so scared, why don't you just hide and save your life?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the person in front of him suddenly stretched out his hand and exerted force on his waist. He was caught off guard and was pushed aside.
Li Jintang instinctively thrust out his sword. The demon soldier who was about to launch a sneak attack did not expect that the person had changed. He could not control his strength for a moment and rushed forward, allowing the sword blade to pierce his abdomen.
After confirming that the demon soldier could not get up, she waved her sleeve to wipe the blood off the tip of the sword, but heard someone calling her from the side.
Qiuyan trotted over to her, took her cold hand in hers, and said angrily, "It was so dangerous just now, why did you go pick up this sword? You scared me to death, don't you know?"
She was so anxious that she even forgot to add the name.
"That's your sword, you certainly can't let anyone damage it," Li Jintang handed it over, gripping the hilt. Blood was still dripping from the blade. "It's just that I accidentally got it dirty just now. I'll wipe it off later."
Qiuyan knew that she had risked her life just to get the sword back for him. Touched, she sheathed the sword and said, "Silly sister, swords are meant to kill enemies. Isn't it normal for them to get a little bloody?"
"Junior Sister!" Qu Lingfei kicked the last demon soldier over and hurried forward, standing in front of Qiuyan. He opened his arms slightly, as if wanting to hug her, but in the end, he couldn't. He just opened his mouth and said, "I'm glad you're okay, I'm glad you're okay..."
Qiuyan took a step forward and frowned slightly: "Your arm..."
"No problem," Qu Lingfei said with a forced smile, his left arm aching. "It's just a minor injury." Then he looked at the person beside him and said, "Brother Xie, are you okay?"
Xie Changyan seemed to have not expected someone to ask him this. He was slightly startled and then shook his head.
"Brother Qu, let me try to heal you." Li Jintang stared at the wound and said carefully.
"Just follow me."
Suddenly a voice sounded, and Nangong Xiu had also finished fighting, and was holding his sword and walking slowly towards him.
He stood in front of everyone, his expression complex, and spoke in a much gentler tone: "The claws are poisonous. Please follow me to get the antidote."
An hour ago, they were clearly standing on opposite sides, vowing to fight to the death.
Nangong Xiu struggled for a long time and wanted to send them away, but then he remembered his superior's teachings - never forget gratitude, and never judge others by your own standards.
Well, if it weren’t for them today, I’m afraid this place would have been razed to the ground long ago. It’s not a bad idea to just help them.
The four of them were stunned for a moment when they saw his sudden change in attitude. Qu Lingfei laughed dryly and broke the silence: "Let's not bother you anymore. We..."
"With your level of cultivation, if this poison isn't cured, you'll lose all your spiritual power within seven days," Nangong Xiu said. His gaze swept over them one by one, his expression slightly relaxed as he bowed and said, "I was rude earlier. Thank you all for setting aside past grudges and helping us today. This place has been saved."
"Verbal thanks are fine," Xie Changyan said with a faint smile, "Brother Nangong, we should be considered the winner of this third round."
After these words were spoken, the three of them stared at Nangong Xiu, fearing that he would attack them again if provoked. However, he only sighed and said, "It's not that I don't want to help, but this barrier was set up by the commander, and even I find it difficult to break it. However..."
Qiuyan was anxious and interrupted, "But what?"
"But I have a map left behind by my commander," Nangong Xiu glanced at her and said sternly, "If you don't mind, I'd like to accompany you on your journey and escort you away."
The four of them exchanged a glance. Qu Lingfei suppressed his joy, coughed dryly, and said, "Since that's the case, then I'll respectfully obey your command. I, Qu, would like to thank Brother Nangong for his kindness."
Nangong Xiu welcomed them into the house and opened the entrance. Only then did everyone discover that there was an inner room inside.
He flipped a switch, and the huge statue slowly turned, revealing something gleaming inside.
A golden pill was placed on the table. "Master Qu just fought with the monsters, so I'm afraid he's stained with blood. Why not take this pill first? It won't be too late to continue your journey."
Qu Lingfei took the pill and turned around and asked, "Xie, brother, did you also..."
I was halfway through saying this when I realized that the person had disappeared.
"Can you give me one?" Li Jintang looked at the small bottle of pills. Seeing the three people's gazes all focused on him, he felt a little embarrassed and whispered, "I, I accidentally got scratched by it just now."
She successfully got a pill and turned around hurriedly to leave.
"Where is Atang going?" Qiuyan asked casually when she saw her about to leave.
Li Jintang paused and hesitantly explained, "I'm going out to take a look."
A cool breeze blew outside the house, ruffling the man's sleeves. The young man stood under the tree, letting the fallen leaves brush past him.
"Xie An!"
Suddenly, he heard someone calling him from behind. Xie Changyan was stunned for a moment. When he turned around, his eyes met the girl in front of the door.
Li Jintang ran down the stairs and stopped in front of him, handing him the pill. "Use it quickly, no one will see."
The young man's fingertips trembled, and then he raised his eyebrows slightly and said, "Aren't you a human?"
"I..." Li Jintang covered his eyes with his hands and turned away, "I won't look."
After a while, she heard the person behind her say calmly, "How did you know I was injured?"
Li Jintang turned around, straightened his slightly disheveled collar, and then replied, "That demon attacked me just now. When I pushed you away, you didn't even try to evade me. I bet the wound is there."
Seeing the other person remain silent, she knew she had guessed correctly and continued, "Next time you get hurt, just take your medicine. Why run away? No one will laugh at you."
He simply didn't take the injury seriously, so he disdained to take the medicine. Unexpectedly, she saw him as someone who was simply trying to save face. Xie Changyan found it amusing and deliberately said, "You think too much. I'm just afraid of suffering."
"Afraid of hardship?" Li Jintang looked up in confusion. "Then why didn't you tell me earlier?"
She lowered her head, untied the purse hanging at her side, then stood on tiptoe and placed a sticky honey fruit into his palm.
The smile on the young man's lips froze, he lowered his eyes, and was distracted for a moment.
