4. Coffin Room

4 Coffin Room

◎So your name is Xie An◎

Everything seems to be working.

No wonder those monsters came here from afar. It turned out that they were not performing a kneeling ceremony, but were just paying homage to the people in the tomb.

"You're saying this house is a coffin?" The fortune teller exclaimed, his voice trembling, "Then if that's the case, if that's the case... then what I just ate wasn't a sacrifice?"

"I'm reminding you not to eat secretly." Li Jintang glanced at it helplessly, but he didn't have the heart to argue with him at the moment. He just kept thinking about how to get out.

The house kept shrinking, and Li Jintang's heart trembled - if this house eventually shrank to the size of a coffin, wouldn't they be suffocated to death here?

But there are many monsters surrounding the house, and even if he goes out, he will probably die.

A thought suddenly flashed through her mind - if she died now, could she go back in time and see her parents and elder sister?

The fate book seemed to be able to read her thoughts and shouted, "You only have one life. If you die here, you will die for real. Don't expect to be able to return."

"Didn't you say we could leave by following this brat? Humph, I think he's useless!"

Li Jintang glanced at him and seeing that he was indifferent, he could only sigh secretly in his heart.

Although she had this thought when she saved the person, she couldn't force him to do anything even if he was not the protagonist.

There was no telling when the group of monsters outside the house would leave, and by then they might all have turned into two mummies.

She moved to the door and through the crack,

Li Jintang squatted down, wrapped her arms around her knees, and curled up. She closed her eyes, the fear of death enveloping her whole body.

Suddenly, a voice came from above:

"Are you scared?"

She raised her head, with traces of cold tears on her face.

"A little bit," she hurriedly raised her hand to wipe it away, saying embarrassedly, "I don't want to cry. I don't know why I'm crying."

The young man looked away, gazing outside for a long moment before saying, "If you trust me, I can lead you through this siege."

"No," Li Jintang stood up and blocked his way. "Your injuries haven't fully healed yet, how can you..."

Before he could finish his words, a scabbard suddenly appeared in front of him. He lowered his eyes slightly and said, "You want to come out with me, or die here? It's your choice."

Li Jintang froze for a moment, then hesitantly reached out. The moment she touched the scabbard, there was a loud bang, and the "roof" was shattered. She closed her eyes tightly, reached out and grasped the man's sleeve, and felt herself floating in the air, teetering on the verge of collapse.

After an unknown amount of time, the strong feeling of weightlessness slowly dissipated.

"You can let go now."

A soft sound came from her ears, and she quickly moved her hand away, patting the other person's sleeve a few times to straighten out the wrinkles she had pulled out.

Looking around, there was no house anywhere, not even a trace of a monster.

She had escaped death, but she was still frightened. She blinked and asked, "Did we... escape?"

"If you want to go back..."

His wrist suddenly tightened, and he looked down in shock. He saw the girl with both hands on his wrist, tears welling up in her eyes as she smiled:

"Fuzi, you are so amazing. This time it is all thanks to you."

Before he could react, Li Jintang noticed a jade pendant lying on the ground.

There are several fine cracks on it.

She leaned over to pick it up, weighing it in her hand: "Who left this here? There are words on it..."

Before she could take a closer look, a gust of wind suddenly blew towards her and the jade pendant was snatched away.

"It's yours," Li Jintang lowered his hand, thinking of the words he had just seen, and asked, "Is that your name? Your name is Xie..."

The young man raised his eyebrows when he heard that, and his murderous gaze stayed on her, and the jade pendant in his hand seemed to be crushed to pieces by him.

Li Jintang didn't notice his abnormality. He just recalled it and asked uncertainly, "Xie An? Fuzi, your real name is Xie An, right?"

“…”

The young man lowered his eyes and was about to put the jade pendant back on, then said "hmm".

"I have a new rope here." Seeing that he had tried several times but failed to tie it, Li Jintang rummaged through his purse and took out a brand new red rope. "Use this one."

"No need." He did not take the red rope she handed him, but just held the jade pendant in his palm and turned away.

The three words "Xie Changyan" were clearly engraved on the jade pendant, but unfortunately she didn't have time to read it clearly, so she mistook "Yan" for "An".

Fortunately, she didn't see clearly, otherwise even if she escaped from the monsters, she would have died in his hands.

"Is Fuzi leaving?" Li Jintang thought he was looking for a way out, so he followed him, feeling both happy and worried. "But your injuries aren't fully healed yet, is that okay?"

Xie Changyan paused and looked at her: "What did you say?"

"It's just been healed," Li Jintang hurried over, saying, "but that only makes it look less terrifying. If you want to recover the lost spiritual power, you need to find some herbs."

"If you don't believe me, you can try it yourself and you'll know."

His eyelashes drooped slightly, knowing that what she said was true.

When he broke through the coffin just now, he had to use 70% of his strength to barely break it. If it were under normal circumstances, how could he take this small coffin lid seriously?

"What herb?"

Li Jintang recalled what he had read in ancient books and said, "Huilingcao, it can help you."

Xie Changyan asked again, "Where can I find it?"

Li Jintang choked. She only remembered the name of the herb, but the content of the ancient book was vague and she couldn't remember it at all.

She looked at the fortune book beside her and asked, "Can you tell me where the Huiling grass grows?"

Unable to wait for a reply, she tapped the book lightly and said, "You are not unaware of the mystical power of the Book of Fate, are you?"

The fate book provoked her so much that she really said in a bad mood: "It's an extremely cold place. Someone as delicate as you will die if you go there."

After hearing this, Li Jintang told him the truth, then said "I wish you good luck" and prepared to go in the opposite direction.

"Wait a minute."

She paused, turned around and looked at him slowly following her. She lowered her head and rummaged through her purse, saying, "You didn't leave anything here with me."

"..." He twitched his lips, and the next moment he approached the girl.

Li Jintang took a step back unconsciously.

She was not tall, and the man standing in front of her cast a large shadow above her head, blocking out most of the sunlight.

"You're not with me?"

Li Jintang was about to say this, but she knew that he was injured and it would be dangerous for him to go alone. However, she couldn't stay here for too long. After thinking for a moment, she apologized, "My spiritual power is low. Even if I go with you, I still can't defeat the monsters if I meet them."

The young man's smile froze on his lips, his expression suddenly darkening: "Shouldn't we save people to the end?"

"Could the girl just watch an unarmed man die without saving him?"

After saying this, he changed his expression and put on a pitiful look, saying, "Forget it. My spiritual power is very weak to begin with, and now I am a useless person. I will die if I want to."

He said three sentences in a row, and Li Jintang didn't know how to respond for a moment. She didn't want to see him fall into the uncertainty of life and death, but -

"I still want to go home..." she murmured.

The other person's gaze was still on her. She looked away, her heart softening as she compromised, "I really can't go there with you. If you don't mind, I'll try my best..."

"Thank you very much, young lady." Before she could finish her words, he walked straight past her without looking away.

Never mind. His spiritual power is not high to begin with, and he is injured now. It won’t hurt if he stays for two more days.

What's more, even if she wanted to leave, she didn't know where to go.

Li Jintang hurriedly hugged the divination book in his arms and followed in small steps: "Where are you going?"

"There is a cave ahead, and no monsters will come here for the time being." He said this without turning his head, but his pace slowed down a bit.

The entrance to the cave was extremely narrow, only allowing one person to pass through. However, the space inside the cave was quite large, shaped like an oval. The two walked in, one in front and one behind. At night, they didn't even dare to light torches for fear of attracting monsters.

"Why don't you continue?"

Li Jintang had poured a lot of spiritual energy into him, and suddenly darkness descended. Looking up, she realized the sky outside the cave had changed. She rubbed her wrist and said, "It's dark now. I can't see. Let's continue tomorrow."

Suddenly, there was a "crack" sound, and a piece of firewood beside them was lit out of thin air. The flame flickered in the wind and reflected on the faces of the two people, emitting a faint light.

"Can you see it now?" Xie Changyan lit the fire and glanced at the girl, the firelight reflected in his eyes: "The fire is not big, it won't attract anything."

Seeing that he had predicted his problem in advance, Li Jintang stopped asking and just thought that he was so anxious because he felt uncomfortable all over due to losing his spiritual power. So he did not delay any longer and touched the wound in the faint light and continued to infuse spiritual power into it.

Outside the cave, rain began to fall, hitting the cave wall obliquely, making crackling sounds.

"That's all for today," Li Jintang said again, this time in a tone that brooked no argument. "I'm tired."

There was a rustling noise behind him, and Xie Changyan knew without even looking that she had left. He closed his eyes and gathered his energy, realizing that his spiritual power had recovered to 90%, more than enough to escape alone.

Li Jintang sat cross-legged against the wall of the cave, keeping a distance from him. She took the fortune book she had placed on the boulder and opened the first page.

...blank.

"Don't you know everything?" She shook it awake and whispered, "Why is there nothing inside?"

The fortune-teller was about to lose his temper because someone had disturbed his sleep, but when he heard her question him like this, his temper suddenly weakened: "Actually, actually, I..."

Li Jintang listened to it repeating "I" for a long time without being able to explain it, and found it inexplicably funny: "So you lied to me before? Then let me ask you, where am I now?"

"Who said I lied to you?" The Book of Fate only wished he had no hands, otherwise he would have sworn to heaven right then and there, "You are indeed in the storybook, but I've been traveling for many days looking for you, and my spiritual energy has been exhausted. Of course, the contents inside have also disappeared."

Li Jintang was so frightened that he didn't understand how he could be blamed for this.

"I have suffered so much with you, and now I have to endure your scolding..." As the fortune teller spoke, his tone became tearful.

"I don't blame you," Li Jintang didn't understand why it could cry so suddenly, so he said, "Okay, okay, it's gone. You can remember it slowly."

What was there to argue with a book? It couldn't suddenly transform into a person and kidnap her.

The wind outside the cave was rustling, making people feel sleepy. Li Jintang leaned against the wall of the cave, holding the book of destiny in his arms when he fell asleep.

The next morning, the rain stopped and the wind died down. A ray of sunlight came in from the cave entrance and shone on the back of the girl's hand.

"How are you?"

After a long while without any response, Li Jintang opened his eyes, but found that there was no one around him, not even a single person.

"Fuzi?"

After she had called out this, she felt something was not right, so she changed her words and called out, "Xie An?"

After calling out several times without receiving any response, Li Jintang suddenly felt uneasy.

Could it be that he was taken away by a monster at night?
