71 Mirage Mirror (XI)
You actually want to kill her
"Sister Qiuyan, Qiuyan..."
There were incessant calls in her ears, and Qiu Yan retreated in a daze, her back bumping into the person behind her.
"Sister, what's wrong with you?" Li Jintang was frightened by her pale face. Thinking she was under the influence of an illusion again, he quickly raised his hand to touch her forehead. "Sister, listen to me, everything you see now is not real. Don't believe it..."
"I, I'm fine," Qiuyan took her hand and ran out as if fleeing, "Please don't recognize me..."
The voice was mumbling, and Li Jintang didn't hear the last two words clearly. He was interrupted by her quick steps and said, "Sister Qiuyan, where are we going?"
Qiuyan stopped walking upon hearing this and looked around with a bit of confusion in her eyes.
Where to go? She didn't know.
Anyway... I can't stay here for too long. I'm afraid I'll be recognized.
But she still couldn't help wondering why her fellow immortals appeared here and what this place was.
Where's Master? Is Master here too?
Qiuyan stood on tiptoe and took another stealthy look at the crowd, but fortunately she did not see the familiar figure.
She felt instantly at ease, and cursed herself inwardly—if Master were here, how could he have allowed them to kill and done nothing? If Master knew she doubted him like this, he would be heartbroken.
She regained some spirit and thought, since that's the case, she will take good care of them on behalf of her master today.
But how could Atang take such a risk with her? Qiuyan turned around and saw the girl beside her staring at the crowd in front of her, then tilting her head to look at her.
"Sister Qiuyan, I don't know what these people have done to deserve being treated like this," Li Jintang pulled on her sleeve. His hands were shaking, perhaps out of fear, but his voice was remarkably firm. "It's fate that we're here. Can we help them?"
Qiuyan didn't know how to describe her feelings at the time, and she just nodded almost without hesitation. Coincidentally, one of the young men in white robes turned his gaze and discovered them hiding at the end of the crowd. She immediately grabbed Li Jintang's hand and hid behind a wall.
The people outside seemed to have stopped killing. The two men stuck half of their faces out to look outside, and saw the group of young men in white standing in front of them with serious expressions. Spiritual power shuttled through the crowd and then slowly injected into their spiritual consciousness.
After a moment, the leading young man raised his hand, and all the spiritual power was taken back. Then several disciples came forward, tied up several townspeople with spiritual ropes, and were about to leave.
Were they just... using their spiritual sense to screen out someone? Qiuyan was secretly puzzled. Before she could figure out the truth, a sudden cry interrupted her thoughts.
A woman with disheveled hair came running, only to be stopped by two townspeople holding their arms. Knowing she wasn't strong enough to break free, she stared at the crowd with red eyes, cursing, "You killed my child! I want you to pay with your life! I want you to pay with your life!"
The young man in white who was in the lead just now turned around coldly, and drew his long sword half an inch from its sheath. The sword light made everyone retreat in unison.
The two townspeople holding her frowned and whispered, "Forget it, forget it. How can you be a match for them?"
"Forget it? That's my child, how can you just let it go like this!" After the roar, her voice became hoarse. A moment later, she spat accurately in the face of the boy who was about to turn around.
A sinister look immediately flashed across the young man's face. Without saying a word, he raised his hand to bring down the sword.
No one around dared to stop her. The woman closed her eyes, slightly raised her neck, and even leaned towards the tip of the sword.
There was a crisp "clang" sound, and in a flash, the long sword was bounced back several inches. The young man swung the sword in mid-air, only cutting off a strand of the woman's hair.
The young man stopped attacking. He sheathed his sword and looked around, wondering how anyone could dare to resist.
"It's those two women!" Another young man in white pointed behind the wall and said, "Just now I thought it wouldn't matter if I let them go, but I didn't expect them to be so ungrateful and even dare to fight back."
Qiuyan was shocked when she heard his words. She hurriedly pushed the person next to her and said, "Atang, run quickly. It's best if you can escape. Then... then Brother Qu will report to the master."
Li Jintang naturally wouldn't leave. Her eyes widened slightly, and she didn't say anything sentimental. Instead, she caught the hint in her words: "Why did you report this to Master? Are these people in white related to my sister?"
Qiu Yan was slightly surprised by her directness, but she knew the situation was critical and could not hesitate, so she said, "They are mine..."
She raised her face, and Li Jintang was surprised to find tears in her eyes.
"It's my fellow disciple."
These words were spoken with extraordinary calmness. Li Jintang was stunned, and when he looked at her, his eyes were full of sadness and pity.
"Then..." She opened her mouth, staring at the other person without blinking, and spoke carefully, afraid of accidentally touching someone's sore spot, "Should we still take action against them?"
Qiuyan looked at her for a moment, then suddenly put away her grief-stricken expression. She smiled and said, "Silly Atang, if we don't deal with them, are we just waiting for them to come and kill us?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a burst of spiritual energy floated over. Qiu Yan grabbed Li Jintang's hand without any hesitation and ran towards another alley.
"Forget it, Junior Brother, don't chase them. They are just two little fairies with low spiritual power who like to take shortcuts. You can report to Master later."
The young man, called "Junior Brother," was about to swing his sword when he realized there was no one behind the wall. Upon hearing this, he sheathed his sword and frowned, saying, "Senior Brother, those two people just now seemed to be from the Immortal Realm."
The senior brother laughed and said, "What's the big deal? Aren't there enough immortals imprisoned here?"
"No," he said, his lips trembling slightly, his eyes filled with fear. "I just sensed that their memories are intact. Anyone who enters the Void Mirror won't survive more than two days before their memories are gradually erased. And no one has entered this place in the past seven days. How could they have resisted?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the senior brother's pupils shook violently, and the hand gripping the hilt of the sword tightened unconsciously, and he became visibly panicked, but that expression disappeared immediately, replaced by a sinister smile.
"Master has ordered that this place must not be discovered by anyone. They broke in on their own, so don't blame me for being ruthless and clearing out the place."
A stone suddenly rolled to his feet. He frowned and kicked it aside. Suddenly, a girl's voice was heard.
"Want to clean up the mess, huh?" Li Jintang stood not far away, hands on his hips, and beckoned, "I'm right here. Come and chase me. But with your low cultivation, I'm afraid I can bring you all down with just a flick of my finger!"
"you--"
The senior brother held out his hand to stop the man who was about to step forward, sneering, "What's the difference between killing you and stepping on an ant? I'm afraid your accomplices are hiding out there, setting an ambush for us!"
"How could I have any accomplices?" Li Jintang blinked, then suddenly sighed, his toes scraping against the pebbles on the ground. "Well, it was me who wanted to save someone, it had nothing to do with my friend. You arrested me, but can you let her go? She's innocent..."
"Innocent?" The senior brother laughed loudly, looking up to the sky. After laughing, he approached her step by step, the tip of his sword drawing a long mark on the ground. "None of you can escape today."
Li Jintang held the talisman with his hands behind his back and swallowed quietly, his heart pounding. "You want to silence me? Aren't you afraid that Master will find out and punish you?"
The white-robed disciples paused when they heard this, then burst into laughter in tacit understanding, one of them even laughed to the point of tears.
"Punishment? If our Master knew we let you go, that would be a grave sin." One of them laughed, tugged on the whip in his hand, and said, "Surrender obediently, and I'll make your death less painful."
Li Jintang tilted his head and chuckled: "Stop bragging. Weren't you afraid of an ambush just now? I don't think you guys are..."
Before she could say the word "dare", the long whip suddenly came with a strong wind. She hurriedly dodged to the side, but her ankle was still cut by the flying stones.
"You attacked me by surprise, how shameless!" After she cursed, she turned around and ran away. Her feet seemed to have the wind, and the minor injuries could not stop her at all.
"Junior brother, you stay here and guard. I'll go chase them."
He said, and flew away with his sword in hand. The disciple holding the long whip immediately followed him and shouted, "Brother, I am here to help you!"
Li Jintang didn't dare to look back and ran away, her clothes fluttering as she passed through several streets and alleys. When she heard no movement behind her, she stopped abruptly and looked back, only to see two people following her.
The other two are probably still staying where they are, and I don’t know if Sister Qiuyan can handle it.
At this moment of distraction, the young man behind her threw a flying sword. She dodged quickly by hearing the sound, and the sword just passed by her side. Fortunately, it only left a scar on her arm.
Li Jintang suppressed a "hiss" and turned to go into a narrow alley. He threw out a piece of talisman paper with his backhand, which collided with the fierce sword energy and exploded into flames all over the sky.
The wound on her arm was burning with pain, but she didn't bother to deal with it. She turned around, pushed the door open, fastened the bolt, squatted on the ground, covered her lips, and didn't dare to breathe.
There was an empty space around his waist, and the jade stone was given to Qiuyan, hoping that she could escape safely with the townspeople.
She heard angry shouts outside the house: "You're clearly here, where did you go?"
"Brother, why don't we go to the front and take a look. This girl won't be able to run far."
Listening to the receding footsteps, Li Jintang felt her heartbeat, like a drum, slowly subside. After a moment, she rubbed her numb calves and stood up, holding onto the doorframe.
The sudden voice from above her head made her blood run cold.
"Brother, I won the bet this time."
"Alright, I'll remember your achievement later. Now let's deal with this girl first."
She turned her head stiffly, and saw two faces reflected outside the window, their smiles distorted by the effect of the window.
*
Time passed without stopping, and suddenly, the broken lenses on the ground began to vibrate violently.
Qu Lingfei stood up immediately and asked, "Why is the mirror suddenly agitated? Could it be that my junior sisters and the others are in danger..."
He cast his gaze towards the young man in white standing against the wall, as if he was looking at his last hope.
Xie Changyan slowly opened his eyes, glanced down at the lens, and said with a smile, "Since you're so worried, why don't you go in and save her?"
Upon hearing this, Qu Lingfei immediately jumped forward excitedly and said, "Brother Xie, you have a way to get in, right? Can you...can you take me in..."
"Letting you in is just like sacrificing one more life," Xie Changyan sneered, looking at the person on the other side. "Didn't you say you were willing to sacrifice your life for your junior sister? Why, you don't dare now?"
"You just said you couldn't get in, were you just trying to buy time?" Qi He was trembling all over, his face ashen. "My junior sister treated you like this, and you actually wanted to kill her. You really are a snake that can't be warmed."
Xie Changyan was not annoyed, but just smiled slightly. In the blink of an eye, the fragments were stitched together into a complete mirror, without even a trace of cracks.
"Junior sister..." Qi He didn't have time to mock her anymore. He widened his eyes and took a step forward, intending to touch her.
"Sizzle!" A cluster of flames shot up his arm, and the young man slapped him in the chest with his backhand without any effort.
Qi He covered his chest and retreated straight back, a trickle of blood oozing from the corner of his mouth. He looked up in astonishment at the person who had just injured him.
The young man, dressed in white, looked at him sideways and smiled.
"City Lord Qi, everything has a first come, first served basis. It's not a glorious thing to steal the credit of others."
