87 - Demon Realm (VIII)

87 Demon World (VIII)

◎Don't cross the line◎

The warm sunlight poured down, and it seemed as if a small fish was swimming on the girl's back. The girl's eyelids moved, and before she regained consciousness, she reached out and flicked away the petals that fell on her body.

There were a few rumbling thunders in the sky. Li Jintang looked up and saw that the sky was dark. It looked like it was going to rain soon.

"Put me down."

"good."

He stopped as he was told, and Li Jintang stepped on a protruding stone nearby and jumped down.

"Is it going to rain soon?" She pulled his sleeve and walked forward. "Walk faster. It won't be good if it rains too hard."

As luck would have it, just as these words came out, raindrops as big as beans came down with a crackling sound. Li Jintang hurriedly covered his head with his hands, but the rain did not fall on his hands, but hit the oil-paper umbrella that was opened in time.

She looked up at the man holding the umbrella, grabbed the handle and moved it toward him: "Hold it for yourself too."

"Okay," he replied. But after a few steps, the umbrella quietly moved to her side again.

By the time they were back, half of his shoulder was soaked. Li Jintang looked up at him and suddenly stood on tiptoe. Xie Changyan instinctively leaned over, then reached out and brushed away a patch of wet osmanthus from his shoulder.

Li Jintang turned and ran into the house. After straightening the quilt on the couch, she turned around and waved to the person outside the door, who was looking down and fiddling with the wrinkles of his sleeves: "Xie An, why are you still standing there like an idiot? Come in quickly."

Xie Changyan did not move immediately, but looked into the house, as if to confirm whether she was calling him.

"What's wrong?"

As soon as he sat down, Li Jintang immediately stood up from his half-kneeling position and wrapped him tightly with the quilt. Seeing his momentarily dazed expression, she giggled.

"If you don't wipe your hair after getting caught in the rain, you'll get sick." She said, waving her hand to signal him to lower his head, and then wiped his wet hair with a dry towel.

The girl's slender fingers casually stroked the top of her head. Xie Changyan curled up his five fingers slightly and grasped a corner of the quilt.

"Why are you so nervous?" Li Jintang blinked when he noticed his stiffness and stopped what he was doing. "If you don't like it, just do it yourself."

The boy did not answer, nor did he take the wet towel. His eyes slowly moved down, finally landing on the bright red lips.

Noticing his gaze, Li Jintang immediately covered her lips and leaned back: "Wipe your hair clean first, I don't want to be infected by you."

He smiled gently, leaned over and kissed her forehead, then walked to the bed with satisfaction, picked up a clean robe and was about to change into it.

Li Jintang buried his face in the quilt and held it tightly, as if this could lower the temperature of his cheeks.

The strong wind hit the window, making a wailing sound. She was stunned for a moment and suddenly remembered that winter was coming soon.

Has it been a year since she came here?

There was a sound of footsteps on the floor. She came back to her senses and looked up at the person who came. Suddenly she stood up and touched his sleeve: "Xie An, winter is coming soon. You can't wear such thin clothes anymore."

He didn't react. "Why?"

The window was not closed tightly, and a cold wind blew in, causing the candlelight to flicker, and the two people's reflections on the wall kept overlapping.

Li Jintang, standing on the bed, was as tall as him. She reached out and gathered his shirt, her cold hands rubbing against his body. "Why are you doing this? Silly Xie An, you want to catch a cold, but I don't."

He grabbed her hand and covered it with it, his dark eyes reflecting the girl's figure: "Your hands are so cold, and you still care about me?"

"If you catch a cold, won't I be in trouble too?" she blurted out, then realized something was wrong and quickly stopped talking.

"Tonight..." He stared into her eyes, his lips curled slightly, "Can I still come?"

"What?" She asked subconsciously, then realized what was happening. Her face flushed and she turned away. "I don't understand what you're saying."

"Didn't you just say that you were worried that I would be cold?" The young man had gotten on the bed without her knowing when, and put his arms around her from behind, gently kissing the side of her neck, and kissing all the way along the snow-white hair to her soft temples.

"That way, you won't be cold anymore."

A strange feeling spread throughout her body. Li Jintang trembled slightly, shrugged her shoulders and wanted to push the person away, but he retracted his arms and hugged her tighter, as if he was afraid that she would disappear in the next moment.

She was helpless: "Then you must not be like this now. You'd better be honest."

He let go of her hand and watched her roll and crawl into the bed, "Okay."

Perhaps because she was really afraid that he would come over again, she deliberately slept on the edge with her back to him, occupying only a small part of the quilt.

He propped up his head with one hand and lay on his side to look at her. As expected, he remained motionless. In the middle of the night, he opened his eyes slightly and saw through the dim gap that the girl turned over and was about to fall into the gap beside the bed.

It's not his fault that he's dishonest.

Xie Changyan silently moved over and put his hands around her to pull her back, but she suddenly changed her posture, humming and turning around to rub against him.

The boundary created by the quilt before going to bed was torn apart, and he took advantage of the situation to grab her waist and hold her in his arms, and all sleepiness disappeared in an instant.

She held him in her arms and seemed to enjoy it.

The hand moved slowly, and finally landed on the side of his face with a "pop".

He was stunned for a moment, looking at her innocently.

"Light the candle." Li Jintang snatched the quilt from him, held it in his arms, and said in an unhappy tone.

Xie Changyan waved his sleeve, and the candle lit up, and the candlelight cast a ray of light in his eyes.

"What did you promise? Didn't you agree not to cross the line?"

He was speechless for a moment: "Atang, just now I..."

Li Jintang didn't listen to his explanation and threw the pillow at him: "Go sleep on the floor."

He blinked, very reluctantly, but not daring to annoy her, so he had to drag the pillow out of bed obediently.

The sky was covered with dense clouds, thunder rumbled in fits and starts, and the water on the ground was almost ankle-deep. The girl was holding an umbrella and walking hurriedly. Suddenly, a carriage rushed by, splashing dirty water on the ground. She had no time to dodge, and suddenly a hand reached out from the air, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her forward.

"careful."

The young man stood in front of her, and all the dirty water splashed on him.

Qiuyan was slightly startled and looked at the wet part of his body. "Are you okay?"

He loosened his grip and calmly wiped the water stain with his sleeve: "I'm glad the girl didn't get dirty."

"Thank you, use this to wipe it." Qiuyan was caught off guard by this, but didn't want to delay her journey. She took out a handkerchief and handed it to him, then turned around and wanted to continue her journey.

"This rain came so suddenly, the crops have all been destroyed," the man behind me sighed. "It must be the demonic realm causing trouble again."

Hearing the word "Demon Realm", Qiu Yan immediately stopped, turned around and went back, "Do you know about the Demon Realm?"

The young man glanced at her, narrowed his eyes and smiled: "Miss, you are in a hurry, where are you going?"

"I want to..." She thought about it and swallowed the words back, then asked, "What else do you know? Can you tell me?"

He smiled, closed his eyes and twirled his fingers, then opened his eyes and said leisurely, "If I'm not mistaken, young lady, your beloved is imprisoned somewhere?"

Qiuyan's breath hitched: "How do you know?"

The young man still didn't answer, but suddenly frowned again and said to himself: "The young lady's beloved is now facing the devil alone. It's like an egg hitting a stone. The situation is really..."

The conversation stopped abruptly. Seeing his brows furrowed in worry, Qiuyan knew the situation was not optimistic and hurriedly asked, "How is he now? Can you...can you take me to see him?"

"Of course there are ways," he said with an ambiguous smile, pointing to a restaurant at the corner. "I admire your courage, but there are too many people outside. If it's convenient for you, please go there."

After saying that, he sighed again: "My cultivation is not high."

Qiuyan secretly became suspicious, and while his attention was distracted she reached out and snatched the handkerchief, then turned around lightly and threw the handkerchief behind him.

By the time the young man reacted and turned around, the handkerchief had already fallen to the ground.

He couldn't even handle this. It seemed that what he said just now was true. He really had no cultivation.

After all, there were many people in the restaurant, and he would not dare to do anything in public. What's more, this person's cultivation was still shallow, so he was not a threat.

He frowned slightly: "What do you mean, young lady?"

"Nothing," Qiuyan took two steps toward the restaurant he pointed to, turned back and smiled, "Then I'll trouble you, young master."

She followed the young man into a private room and was about to ask him a question when she saw him sit down calmly and waved to call the waiter.

Indeed, I need help from others, so why should I be anxious? Thinking of this, she took out a silver ingot and said with a smile: "Sir, you don't have to be polite. Let's discuss it while we eat."

"Young lady, you are so generous," he smiled in response. After the waiter left, he took the initiative to pour her a cup of tea. "Young lady, you have to travel soon, so why not have tea instead of wine?"

This man was quite thoughtful and seemed like a gentleman. She was a little more cautious and deliberately used some force when clinking glasses, splashing the tea into his cup. Seeing that he drank it without changing his expression, she drank it all in one gulp with confidence.

"You just said that you had a way to take me in to find my senior brother. Is that true?" She stared at him, hoping to hear the answer she wanted.

"Of course there is a way." He drawled out his words, taking another sip of tea slowly. Then, under her hopeful gaze, he slowly said, "But your senior brother is probably in grave danger. Going there would only help him collect his body. It would be better to return the way you came, and burn more paper money for him."

Qiuyan hadn't expected his attitude to change so quickly, and when she heard the word "collect the body," she flew into a rage. She slammed the table, spilling her tea. "If you don't want to help, just say so earlier. Why waste your time here? Besides, your opinion on whether my brother is good or not doesn't count."

After saying that, she angrily grabbed the handkerchief and threw it at his face, then turned around and was about to leave.

The man raised his hand and easily blocked the dirty handkerchief flying towards him. He sneered and said, "You are a good woman who values friendship and loyalty. I believe that if your senior brother saw you in the afterlife, he would be moved by your friendship."

The door seemed to be sealed by spiritual power. No matter how hard he pushed and pulled it, it remained motionless. Upon hearing this, Qiu Yan immediately turned around and glared at him angrily: "If you dare to talk nonsense again, believe it or not..."

Before she could finish her words, she felt a sudden heaviness in her chest, and her head felt as heavy as if it were filled with lead. Alarm bells rang in her mind, realizing she had fallen into a trap.

But she had clearly never met this man before, so why would he want to harm her?

"you……"

She opened her mouth and uttered a word with difficulty, then her eyelids slowly closed. Before the world fell into complete darkness, she saw the man walk up to her and squat down, saying in a sarcastic tone:

"What do you want? Humph, the immortals are truly useless. But it is an honor for you to become my stepping stone to unify the demon race today."
