92? The Truth (Part 2)

92 The Truth (Part 2)

◎She seemed to remember◎

"Really?"

Li Jintang raised his head, his face covered with tear marks.

"But..." She clutched her chest and closed her eyes, even breathing became difficult. "But why am I in so much pain?"

"Be good and wait for me here." The boy's smile gradually faded. He hugged her tighter and leaned over to kiss the top of her head. "I'll drive them all away, and then it won't hurt anymore."

As soon as these words were spoken, Qi He and Qu Lingfei looked at each other, their expressions changed, and their hands holding the magic weapons tightened.

Xie Changyan stood up slowly, wiped the blood from his lips calmly, raised his eyes and glanced at them, completely losing the look of weakness and serious injury he had just shown.

"You two might as well go out and fight." He flicked his fingertips, and in an instant the door flew open, sending wood chips flying like a barrier between the three of them. He curled his lips. "It's not good to hurt innocent people."

"Do you think everyone is as heartless and ungrateful as you?" Qu Lingfei snorted coldly, his chest still aching from time to time, as if the revenge of having his golden elixir taken away was just yesterday. "Atang is a partner who has lived and died with us. How could I possibly harm her? Unlike you, you wouldn't hesitate to use her life to refine some formation!"

Xie Changyan's eyebrows arched slightly at this, a hint of absurdity flashing across his eyes. He scoffed, a hint of sarcasm curling up at the corner of his lips. After a moment's pause, he uttered only four words: "What an idiot."

He disdained to pay attention to the other party's reaction, turned around and picked up the girl who was kneeling on the ground as if no one was around.

"Xie An," she patted his shoulder in fear, "what are you going to do?"

"You're tired, take a nap." He gently put her on the couch and pulled the quilt for her. "I'll be back soon."

"Don't hurt Brother Qu..." Li Jintang immediately stood up and reached out to pull his sleeve, but missed.

When Xie Changyan turned around, a cold light had already condensed in his sleeves. When he heard her last words, he paused and did not respond. Instead, he retracted his spiritual power as he was told and jumped out of the windowsill.

"I'll go deal with him," Qi He stretched out his arm to stop Qu Lingfei. As he spoke, he turned back and looked sadly at the girl on the couch. "She doesn't recognize me now. I'm afraid... she won't be willing to go with me."

Now that the demon is away, it would be a good opportunity to take Atang away. Qu Lingfei frowned and thought for a moment, but before he could say anything, the other party had already snatched it away.

He was startled and could only shout, "Be careful! I'll be right there."

As soon as he finished speaking, he turned and walked to the bedside, squatted down and comforted her: "Don't be afraid, Atang, come back to the fairyland with me, okay?"

"Immortal Realm?"

The girl's dazed face was instantly stained with fear. She curled up and retreated to the corner, looking at him with eyes full of vigilance: "I won't go, Brother Qu, I don't want to die..."

Qu Lingfei was startled when he heard this, thinking he had misheard: "How could that be? Don't worry, I will definitely escort you safely on the way..."

"I'm not afraid of those people on the street," Li Jintang interrupted him before he could finish, his shoulders twitching: "Brother Qu, you don't know what happened that night, right?"

Her eyes were red from crying, and she stared at him straight in the eyes, saying timidly, "I'm afraid... afraid of your master."

Qu Lingfei's brows knitted together, bewildered. "Are you afraid of my master? Why? You saved his apprentice's life, and he's already deeply in love with you. Why would you be afraid of him?"

"You think he's good because he's your master, not mine. He doesn't care whether I live or die." Li Jintang's body began to tremble. She leaned her back against the wall, resisting his approach. "Brother Qu, please go. I won't go see someone who wants to kill me again."

"What did you say?" Qu Lingfei froze, his ears buzzing and his blood seemed to freeze. He raised his head and demanded urgently, "Atang, explain clearly. What do you mean by my master wants to kill you?"

Li Jintang hesitated for a moment, then recounted everything that happened that night.

It seems that Brother Qu and Sister Qiuyan are unaware of this matter, and they don't want to harm me... They treated me very well in the past. If this immortal is really an evil person with a beast in human form, she must let them see the true face of their master as soon as possible.

Qu Lingfei's body trembled, his pupils suddenly constricting. He collapsed onto the ground, dazed, unable to accept the reality of the situation. He muttered, "Impossible, impossible... Master, how could he possibly..."

Li Jintang didn't say anything else, just looked at him silently.

After a long time, she opened her thin lips, her voice a little hoarse: "Brother Qu, you go, I will stay here, and then find a way to go home..." When she mentioned going home, she remembered what the homeless man had said just now, and her heart suddenly ached.

She frowned slightly and said in a weak voice: "Don't worry, Xie An won't hurt you..."

"Why do you trust him so much?" Qu Lingfei raised his head suddenly, trying to stand up. "Do you know why he imprisoned you here?"

Li Jintang was stunned for a moment, his eyes flashing: "That young master is no match for Xie An, I wonder if anything bad will happen."

Her wet eyelashes drooped and she looked away, not wanting to continue this topic.

But after finally getting the demon away, how could he possibly give up? Qu Lingfei ignored her attempts to stop him, stood up, and tried to forcibly take her away. However, as soon as he extended his hand, it was bounced back by a barrier, and blood flowed from his hand.

He looked up in shock, his face full of disbelief.

Unexpectedly, this demon was so cautious that he even set up a barrier. A gust of wind blew in from outside, making the door creak.

Qu Lingfei took two steps back, a strong sense of guilt welling up in his heart: "Atang, I'm sorry... Please wait a moment, I will come back to save you."

Before he finished speaking, he turned and ran out. Not long after, his figure disappeared from her sight.

Li Jintang sat quietly for a while, and felt that she could not stay any longer, so she got out of bed and walked out the door. The cool breeze made her feel much more awake.

These two people came too suddenly today, and I don’t know how they are doing now... And what did they say just now mean?

She shook her head, trying to drive all those messy thoughts out of her mind.

Fake, all fake...

How could something happen to my parents and elder sister? How could Xie An use her to refine the formation?

If he really wanted to do something, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stand here peacefully.

The Tongsheng Bell on his ankle suddenly shook, and Li Jintang bent down and stroked it.

"Why are you shaking?" She lowered her eyes to look at it, her eyes flickering with anxiety, "Did something happen to Xie An?"

She raised her head and looked around blankly, but didn't know where to find him.

She stumbled along the corridor, the bell chiming in the wind. Suddenly, a gust of cold wind blew around the corner, blowing open the half-closed wooden door. She instinctively reached out to hold on to the wall, but the wall moved and she sank in.

Strange, there is another room here?

"Sorry... Is anyone there?" She called hesitantly at the door. There was a slight echo from inside the house, but no one answered.

Just as she was about to turn around and leave, a knife inlaid with red diamonds lying quietly on the floor caught her eye. Li Jintang's breathing suddenly stopped. She stared at the knife, her pupils slightly contracted.

Before she could think clearly, she walked in, bent down and picked up the knife handle, and her heartbeat gradually became faster.

She remembered the knife.

The scene of the man in green grabbing her neck and trying to throw her out of the window came to her mind again. At that time, the knife was hanging in front of her neck.

But didn't Xie An rush to save her in time? Why did this knife appear here?

What is the relationship between Xie An and that man in green?

The room was pitch black, and I couldn't see clearly what was around me. The doors and windows were creaking, which was a bit scary.

Li Jintang stood up, took a candle, lit it and waved it around. He saw large boxes piled up in the room and several portraits hanging on the walls.

Before she could figure out what was going on with the knife, the portraits on the wall made her feel cold all over again - most of the portraits were of a young girl, and in a few of them, there was a young boy standing next to the girl.

The knife handle fell to the ground with a clang, and Li Jintang felt that her consciousness was a little dazed. She walked forward in a daze, and ran her fingers over the portrait. It was spotless, and it seemed that someone came to wipe it regularly.

One of the paintings depicted a large green meadow. The woman in the portrait looked exactly like himself, and the young man also looked exactly like Xie An.

Suddenly an idea flashed through her mind, and before she had time to think, her fingers trembled as she put several paintings together, and then the complete background appeared.

She froze in place, a chill running down her spine. Her hands clenched tightly in her sleeves, her nails digging into her palms, yet she felt no pain.

This place...isn't this her home before she transmigrated into the book?

But why is Xie An here too? !

"Don't worry, Junior Sister. I will avenge Master and his wife."

"I thought you had already gone with your parents."

“…”

She squatted down and covered her head with her hands, as if this could escape the facts, but the huge fear still enveloped her like a thick cloud.

Impossible.

Impossible, impossible, impossible...

It was as if a crack appeared somewhere, and memories immediately came flooding back, and she couldn't escape even if she wanted to.

Had they met long ago? Much earlier than she remembered...

"This is not true..." She choked out, and when she stood up, her legs were weak, so she had to reach out to hold on to the portrait to steady herself.

When Xie An comes back, she will ask him again and he will definitely give her the answer she wants.

What if the man in blue who held her hostage is the same person?

A voice that did not belong to him sounded without warning. Li Jintang looked around in horror but could not find the source of the voice.

Her hands were shaking, and it took her several attempts to successfully hang the portrait back in its place.

Just as the door was closed, a figure suddenly flashed before her eyes. She was startled and her scream was quickly muffled by a hand.

She gathered her thoughts with great difficulty, suspecting she had seen it wrongly: "Sister Qiuyan?"

"It's me," Qiuyan said as she released her hand, only to find it covered in blood. Not bothering to wipe it away, she frowned and said, "Don't just stand there. Come with me now."

Li Jintang didn't have the energy to ask her where she was going. He just looked at her quietly for a long time, then nodded tiredly.

"Okay, I'll go with you."

Qiu Yan didn't expect it to be so easy. She was overjoyed and didn't want to wait even a second. She reached out her hand and wanted to pull her away immediately.

"Wait," Li Jintang avoided her outstretched hand and sighed under her suspicious gaze: "Xie An has set up a barrier on me. If you touch it, you will be hurt."

Qiuyan smiled comfortably upon hearing this, her frown slowly relaxing. "So that's how it is. I'm afraid that demon will be back soon. If Miss Li hesitates any longer, she won't have the chance to leave."

"I'll go with you," Li Jintang agreed without much doubt, and even urged her, "You must ensure my safety."

Qiuyan smiled, trying her best not to let the smugness in her eyes become too obvious: "Of course."
