"You may all leave." He pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
After everyone had left, the Holy Emperor finally looked at the Empress, whose face was streaked with tears.
"The child is alright."
The Empress wiped away her tears and nodded, saying, "Yes, Your Majesty."
Looking at the Second Prince, the Holy Emperor's gaze was intense. "Junli, what exactly is going on?"
"Father, I don't know what happened either."
The Empress gripped his hand tightly, "Junli, were you injured when you were a child? Did Consort Zhao injure you back then?"
The Second Prince's eyes changed slightly at the mention of Consort Zhao.
After a long while, he shook his head.
"Mother, all of that is in the past."
Seeing his expression, the Holy Emperor was at a loss for words. His son was indeed outstanding, yet he had not noticed it at all over the years.
It's likely that Consort Zhao secretly concealed his situation.
"Junli, you are now eighteen. Do you have a candidate for your principal wife?"
"Father, I would like to postpone the marriage for the time being. I want to spend more time with Mother."
He knew that the Empress had been blaming herself for losing him, and he himself had always felt that there was something he hadn't accomplished.
The Holy Emperor nodded, "In that case, let's put it aside for now."
After the Emperor and Empress left, the Second Prince calmly got up from the bed and walked to the entrance of the palace.
The July sun was scorching, and the Second Prince's heart, too, grew anxious in response to the heat.
Who is the girl in his dream? Why is he so sad? Why does he have the determination to follow her in death?
He closed his eyes again, trying to return to the dream.
"Who are you?"
