Chapter 170 Powerful Protection of His Wife

A family of five.

They ate their first family reunion dinner in over ten years in the courtyard.

Ye Lanyin was overjoyed, eating the food in front of her with tears blurring her vision.

Hua Xin and Hua Mei watched as the group enjoyed their meal so much, and both smiled like doting aunts.

[Brother Chengyun seems to really like eating.]

Did his father mistreat him?

When Xiao Chengyun heard Lin Wanwan call him "father," he felt even more sorry for her and wanted Ye Lanyin to divorce him.

"Mrs. Lin."

Ye Lanyin put down her chopsticks. "Young Master Xiao, is the food not to your liking?"

Xiao Chengyun quickly shook his head, "No."

"I've heard that the Marquis of Zhenbei keeps a mistress, favors his concubine over his wife, and treats Wanwan badly. I know everything that happened in court that day."

“Madam Lin, the Marquis of Zhenbei is a bad person. Why don’t you get a divorce? Take Wanwan and Chang’an with you.”

"Oh, don't worry about not having a place to stay. There is a courtyard in the Regent's Palace. I'll have my father give it to you."

The little boy's innocent and charming words stunned both Huaxin and Huamei.

It seems that this Young Master Xiao is truly in love with his wife.

Ye Lanyin was surprised that he was so sensible and could see things so clearly, and she couldn't help but smile like a loving mother.

She patted Xiao Chengyun's head, "Young Master Xiao, I..."

"Open the door!"

"Open the door!"

Just then, a voice urging her came from outside, interrupting Ye Lanyin's words. Ye Lanyin looked up at the door.

Hua Mei, in a menacing manner, picked up the sword on the table and rushed towards the door.

He was still cursing under his breath.

"Dare to knock on the mistress's courtyard? Be careful, or we'll sell you off..."

As she spoke, she angrily opened the courtyard gate and was startled by the large group of soldiers standing there.

"Who...who are you?"

These days, the lady has not offended anyone.

What are all these officers and soldiers doing here?

Suddenly, a man dressed in a black python robe walked out from behind. He wore a golden crown and had a jade pendant around his waist. His brows exuded an unassailable majesty.

"The Regent?" Hua Mei exclaimed in surprise, so frightened that she could barely hold her sword.

"Clang".

The sword fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

The regent glanced at her indifferently and uttered the decree: "Where is your mistress?"

Hearing Hua Mei's exclamation, Ye Lanyin came out of the house.

Behind him was a group of children.

The Regent's sword-like eyebrows swept over the group, his gaze flickering as it landed on Ye Lanyin's elegant and beautiful face.

"The Regent is quite arrogant, actually leading his soldiers to trespass into the women's private quarters."

If Ye Lanyin hadn't known the children were his, she probably would have driven them away directly.

"Greetings, Madam Lin." The Regent greeted her, his gaze falling on Xiao Chengyun behind Ye Lanyin. "Come here!"

His gaze was stern.

Xiao Chengyun shrank back in fright and slowly walked out from behind Ye Lanyin.

Ye Lanyin felt extremely distressed seeing his frightened appearance.

She reached out and grabbed Xiao Chengyun, who was somewhat taken aback.

“Regent, you are being too harsh on him,” Ye Lanyin couldn’t help but say.

The Regent stared at Ye Lanyin for a long time before uttering a single sentence.

"How I educate my children is my business. Isn't Madam Lin meddling too much?"

"Your Majesty, you've misunderstood. I just noticed he seemed a little afraid of you."

Regent: ? ? ?

Fear?

He's the one who's afraid of this rebellious son, isn't he?

He's caused trouble time and time again!

[Will Daddy turn into a scumbag?]

Why are you so cold to my mother?

[Waaaaah... My poor mother.]

[A scumbag father who is disloyal, and a father who is not gentle either.]

Ye Lanyin took a deep breath.

Hearing Lin Wanwan's heartfelt words, the Regent assumed the child was seeking comfort from a father, and immediately softened his tone.

"Madam Lin, you misunderstand. I was worried about the child getting lost, which is why I rashly entered the inner quarters."

"I hope you won't blame me, Madam. For the past hundred years, the border wars have been intense, and I've been too busy to take care of the children. So, I've naturally been a bit strict in disciplining them."

This was the first time Lin Rui'an had seen the Regent up close. The fourteen-year-old boy had a calm and collected look in his eyes, and he was almost as tall as the Regent.

The boy took a step forward.

"My mother meant well by paying her respects to the Regent, and I hope the Regent will forgive her."

The Regent looked at Lin Rui'an; he was fully aware of what was happening at the Zhenbei Marquis's residence.

But for some reason, seeing Lin Rui'an's eyes was like seeing myself from many years ago.

The young man stood tall and imposing in his blue robes, neither humble nor arrogant. His brown, sword-like eyebrows were resolute and natural, conveying a calm and composed demeanor.

It gives one the illusion of a dashing young man in fine clothes and riding a spirited horse.

The regent almost fell into his eyes.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, it is my fault. I did not know that Your Prince Xiao would be here."

"If I had known, I would have sent it back to the Regent's Palace."

The Marquis of Zhenbei's urgent voice rang out from behind, interrupting the Regent's investigation of Lin Rui'an.

When he finally saw Xiao Chengyun standing next to Ye Lanyin, he was so frightened that he lost his soul.

"Ye Lanyin, you really are the one who stole the Regent's child! Do you want to kill me?"

"You're becoming more and more ill-mannered these days. You actually do something like this?"

"Apologize to the Regent immediately!"

The Marquis of Zhenbei gave Ye Lanyin a good scolding.

The regent glanced at him coldly.
