Ye Lanyin, Ye Lanyin, Ye Lanyin again!
Why does the master always mention Ye Lanyin when he clearly doesn't like her?
She clutched the handkerchief tightly, only then noticing that the Marquis of Zhenbei's expression was rather strange.
"Sir, what's wrong with you?"
"You look terrible?"
When the Marquis of Zhenbei saw someone coming out of the Hibiscus Courtyard, he fled in panic.
Zou Shuang'er was about to chase after her when she saw Ye Lanyin coming out of the door with a smile on her face.
Zou Shuang'er's eyes widened slightly, but she didn't dare to make it too obvious.
She asked, "Madam, where do you wish to go?"
Ye Lanyin had just returned and was in a good mood, thinking of going to check out the things she had recommended.
I didn't expect to run into her as soon as I stepped out.
"Hua Mei, slap him!"
Hua Mei smiled and curtsied: "Yes, Madam."
He then walked over to Zou Shuang'er, reached out and viciously slapped her down.
"Smack!"
Hua Mei was skilled in painting plum blossoms, and since her opponent was Zou Shuang'er, she put in all her strength.
Zou Shuang'er was so dizzy from the beating that she spun around in place several times before finally collapsing heavily to the ground.
"Ah—" she screamed in pain.
"Madam, why did you hit me?"
"Hua Mei, keep slapping yourself!"
Hua Mei was about to go up when Hua Xin stopped her.
"Let me paint the plum blossoms!"
Hua Xin rubbed her wrists. She had long wanted to avenge her mistress, and she had finally seized the opportunity.
She pulled Zou Shuang'er up, stretched out her left hand, and swung it hard to the other side.
"Smack!"
With two consecutive blows, Zou Shuang'er's mouth bled.
Her eyes reddened with anger, and she prepared to tear Ye Lanyin apart.
Who knew that he would trip over something and fall flat on his face.
The veil on her face also fell off.
"ah!"
Hua Xin and Hua Mei both shouted, "You, you, you, are you a ghost?"
"Why does your face look like this?"
Zou Shuang'er quickly picked up the veil from the ground and tied it tightly.
She was furious.
"You just wait and see!"
As she turned to leave, Hua Mei blocked her way.
"Without Madam's orders, do you dare to leave?"
"What exactly do you want?"
Ye Lanyin took out a handkerchief and wiped her hands.
He stared coldly at Zou Shuang'er.
"Do I, a mere concubine, need to report to you, my lady, where I am going? That's the first point!"
"The second point is that he does not bow to me or refer to himself as 'this concubine' when he sees me."
"Was I wrong to slap you?"
Zou Shuang'er was speechless for a moment.
“Madam, if I am wrong, you can point it out and I will correct it. But you hit me without saying a word. If word gets out…”
"Zou Shuang'er, have I given you the nerve?"
Zou Shuang'er's face instantly turned extremely ugly.
She thought Ye Lanyin would at least consider her reputation after hearing this, but she never expected her to say something like that.
When she saw the old lady behind her, her eyes reddened, and she cried, "Madam, I know you are the mistress of the house. I didn't mean to do it. But you hit me without even asking what happened. If word gets out, what will become of the Marquis's family's reputation?"
"Face?" Ye Lanyin laughed instead of getting angry.
Does the Marquis of Zhenbei's mansion still have any face left?
Taking a concubine, keeping a mistress, drowning oneself in a pond, burning one's hair, and being demoted.
Which of these incidents isn't shameful?
Now they're shifting the blame onto her?
She raised her hand, ready to strike Zou Shuang'er, but was stopped by the old lady behind her.
"Lanyin, what are you doing!"
The old lady, leaning on her cane, walked up from behind her.
She had just overheard Ye Lanyin and Zou Shuang'er's conversation, but when she got closer, she was surprised to find that this bitch was trying to hit her dear daughter-in-law.
Ye Lanyin smiled.
He increased the pressure on his hands.
"Smack!"
"Ah—" Zou Shuang'er shouted again, and her veil fell off once more.
The old lady's face turned ashen. This wretched woman, she's not even giving her any face now?
"Lanyin, why did you hit someone?"
"Madam, you stopped me too late. My hand just got out of control." She feigned utter innocence.
Zou Shuang'er was furious.
This person was clearly doing it on purpose, he gritted his teeth and said:
"Madam, you did this on purpose."
"I did it on purpose, Zou Shuang'er, what can you do about it?" Ye Lanyin's words were meant to provoke the two of them.
When the old lady arrived, she muttered to herself that she should be patient, but now that she saw it with her own eyes, she almost got sick from anger.
"Lan Yin..."
Ye Lanyin interrupted her.
"I am the mistress of the Marquis's mansion, in charge of the inner quarters! I have my reasons for hitting and scolding you."
"Do you know that your every word and action represents the face of the Marquis's mansion? Now you're trying to turn the tables and make me take the blame?"
"You say I have disgraced the Marquis's mansion."
"Who was so shameless as to climb into the Marquis's bed, bearing the title of his principal wife, only to be caught red-handed? And then get into a fight with someone in the street?"
"Who brought this bastard into my manor to be a lowly concubine?"
"Isn't it all your fault for losing face? And you still dare to shamelessly claim it's for the sake of the Marquis's reputation?"
Ye Lanyin sneered, "Heh, Zou Shuang'er, even if I die in the future and give up this position, you can only be my second wife!"
Zou Shuang'er felt as if a deep wound in her heart had been brutally punctured, and she could feel the mocking laughter around her.
A strong sense of humiliation welled up in her heart.
Upon hearing this, the old lady's face turned bright red, but what Ye Lanyin said was indeed true; the Marquis's reputation was no longer what it used to be.
But as the matriarch of a noble family, she doesn't know how to protect others, and she even dares to hit people?
