Chapter 48 Acquaintances, Not Familiar

Unexpectedly, the system was also surprisingly serious. "Not necessarily. You don't seem to have the same potential as others." For some reason, even though it was a mechanical voice devoid of any human emotion, one could detect a hint of disdain in it.

Gu Luoqi: ? ? ?

Was she being rejected?

But that's not what it said when it first bound her.

Ah, it's true what they say, what you can't have always seems more alluring.

Not far away, Qi Sheng saw Gu Luoxi and Cheng Cheng dragging a bunch of things, and a struggle flashed in her beautiful eyes. Just as she was about to make a move, she saw Xu Cheng arrive. He paused slightly, then resumed his calm and collected demeanor.

The sunny-looking boy beside him carefully followed Qi Sheng's gaze and saw the rather bold and unrestrained girl in the center. "Do you know her?" He had clearly wanted to go over there earlier.

"Not familiar." Qi Sheng's expression remained indifferent, his steps unchanged.

So much so that the people here didn't even notice him.

Xu Cheng frowned, distressed by Gu Luoxi's sudden abandonment. "Isn't this despicable?" It seemed he would have to face the storm alone this time, a terrifying thought.

"Nothing to be surprised about, we Luoqi have always been this wicked," Cheng Cheng added sarcastically.

Cheng Cheng was still quite gentle with Gu Luoqi, her brother who had shared her despair.

"I understand." Xu Cheng accepted the fact in an instant.

But why did Gu Luoqi suddenly change his mind? He voiced his strong doubts, "By the way, why did you suddenly want to do your homework?"

Is this because he can't see things clearly, or has he come to terms with it?

"The past is too painful to recall, there's no need to mention it again. You just need to know that your brother Gu has realized his mistakes and decided to mend his ways." Gu Luoqi looked weathered, somewhat like someone who had been a big brother for several years and then suddenly retired from the martial arts world to hide his merits and fame.

Cheng Cheng: This thing is like a lunatic. Can she break off all ties with her?

She quietly moved a little further away from her.

"Holy crap, you're not serious, are you?" Xu Cheng was clearly taken aback by Gu Luoqi's impromptu remark.

The two of them standing together looked like patients discussing their conditions.

"Really, when have I ever lied?" Gu Luoqi said with a mysterious air, deliberately trying to fool naive young men like Xu Cheng.

"Okay, good luck." A word of affirmation from a naive young man.

"Before the great cause is accomplished, can you do your brother a favor?" Gu Luoqi began to try his best to persuade him.

Xu Cheng frowned. Something was wrong with the plot. Why did he feel like he had become this thing's underling?

"What?" he asked, puzzled.

"Help me escort these things back." Gu Luoqi pointed to the small cart behind them.

Goodness, we've circled back to the main point after all this talk.

As she turned around, she saw Cheng Cheng and the tall, thin boy had somehow walked to the shade of a large tree not far from them.

The two enjoyed the cool air, feeling quite content.

Xu Cheng's eyes widened upon hearing this. "Don't tell me all these things are yours..." He felt a little incredulous.

Anyone with eyes can see that these are essential items for living in a dormitory.

"Hmm, what's wrong?" Gu Luoqi asked calmly, but she was puzzled as to why her deskmate looked so surprised.

Xu Cheng paused for a moment, then spoke with some difficulty, "Really? You weren't planning to spend every day with Su Yan?"

Who was it that couldn't stop laughing at the thought of this last semester, acting like a lunatic for a whole week? How did things change so suddenly?

Besides, it's one thing for Cheng Cheng to live on campus, but why is this guy getting involved?

"Didn't I say I intended to mend my ways?" Gu Luoqi asked earnestly.

"Holy crap, are you out of your mind? You just gave up on the guy you've liked for so long like that?" Xu Cheng's exaggerated expression seemed to be frozen on his face.

"I won't say anything more, just help me out." Gu Luoqi didn't want to say anything more.

"I'm busy playing games at an internet cafe right now." Xu Cheng was clearly not someone she could fool.

Surprised as I was, I would never do it as cheap labor.

“It’s not like we’re missing a few minutes. You’re being unfair.” Gu Luoqi said with a resentful look.

Before Xu Cheng could even cause her any trouble, she preemptively accused him, saying, "You also secretly do your homework behind my back."

"I brought your favorite books, they're all your absolute favorites." Gu Luoqi had no choice but to resort to her trump card.

"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Xu Cheng rolled his eyes at her.

“How could our relationship be based solely on mutual assistance through a few favors?” Gu Luoqi tried to establish a connection once again.

Xu Cheng didn't care about any of that; since the novel was ready for this period of time, whatever she said was correct.

Having received a bribe, he became much more proactive and then called on his childhood friend, the tall and thin guy, to help them move things.

The boy didn't seem to mind at all; in fact, he was much more enthusiastic than Xu Cheng.

Gu Luoqi and Cheng Cheng walked behind, extremely satisfied with the newly recruited laborers.

"I never knew your deskmate could be so enthusiastic," Cheng Cheng teased. Xu Cheng wasn't particularly noticeable in class; he usually slept in the last row and was rarely awake.

Based on this alone, it can be preliminarily concluded that this guy is definitely not a diligent person.

"Of course, as the eldest brother, I still have some prestige in front of my younger brothers," Gu Luoqi said with a smile.

Perhaps even Xu Cheng didn't realize when he had become a gofer.

They not only brought their belongings down to the bottom of their park, but also kindly helped them carry them up.

Gu Luoqi's face showed gratitude, and of course, it wasn't an act.

"Thank you all." She said sincerely.

Xu Cheng waved his hand dismissively, displaying a heroic air, "I won't thank you for your great kindness. I'm leaving now, bye-bye." Then, as he and the tall, thin boy prepared to leave, he seemed to remember something and added, "Don't forget." He then disappeared from Gu Luoqi and the others' sight.

The boy next to Xu Cheng finally spoke up when they reached the bottom of the stairs, "What kind of illegal transaction did you make?" His childhood friend was definitely not the kind of person who would be so helpful.

"It's nothing, I was just trying to help my classmate, what's wrong with that?" Hmph, making a fuss over nothing, and what do you mean by illegal transaction?

They call this friendly interaction between classmates.

"I'm leaving." The boy didn't dwell on it much.

Gu Luoqi and Cheng Cheng tidied up their things a bit, and then began their great undertaking of making the bed.

Although Cheng Cheng verbally said she wouldn't help her, she still lent a hand.

Finally, she got annoyed by this dawdling guy, told him to get lost, and got busy with her own work.

Gu Luoxi, oblivious to his own incompetence, even chatted with the system, saying, "See? I knew Little Orange loved me the most."

"Host, self-deception is the worst thing you can do," the system calmly reminded her, and it was obvious that the system found her too much of an eyesore.

Sometimes, facing reality takes courage.
