Chapter 62 The Incomplete Rubik's Cube

Looking at her unusually messy room on her phone, Gu Luoxi felt her face burning. "I was in such a rush when I left, so the room is a bit messy," she said somewhat awkwardly.

"Hmm," Qi Sheng replied calmly.

Of course, it's not that he doesn't mind; even if he did, he wouldn't say it out loud.

Gu Luoqi: Thank you so much.

She looked at her room on her phone, her eyes searching for her beloved notebook. "Don't panic, let me find it. Get closer." She was a little annoyed by Qi Sheng's camera angle.

Qi Sheng didn't say anything, but simply moved the phone closer as she asked.

"Isn't it on the bookshelf?" Gu Luoqi muttered softly when she saw that it wasn't on the bookshelf at all.

"Then could you check the bed for me again?" She seemed to suddenly remember something.

Qi Sheng looked at the large bed piled with clutter, his disdain for it barely concealed.

However, he is not a meddlesome person, so even if he dislikes something, he won't say a word.

"Why don't you help me look for it?" Gu Luoqi had already given up. Anyway, the place was so small, it couldn't possibly grow legs and run away by itself.

"I only have one pink notebook, you should be able to find it if you look around." She added, afraid that Qi Sheng would refuse.

As soon as she finished speaking, Qi Sheng hung up the video call.

He didn't want to listen to any more of her nonsense.

Gu Luoxi stood there holding her phone, completely exasperated. Even through the screen, she could feel Qi Sheng's disdain.

Sigh, what am I supposed to do with a younger brother who always complains about me?

"Is it that person from the playground just now?" Li Mingya asked with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

Teenage girls always have an instinctive curiosity about these things.

Of course, this curiosity is not necessarily malicious; on the contrary, it has a youthful flavor.

Gu Luoqi was well aware of this as well. "Little brother," she said with a smile.

This was the first time she had ever said that Qi Sheng was her younger brother in front of others, and it wasn't as difficult as she had imagined.

“You two siblings have such a good relationship.” Li Mingya’s expression was a little unnatural when she said this.

Unlike her…

Unfortunately, Gu Luoqi didn't notice because her attention was completely drawn to her words.

Are she and Qi Sheng on good terms?

This is guaranteed to be the second funniest joke she's heard all year.

"What a load of bull!" Gu Luoqi couldn't help but swear.

Li Mingya quickly calmed down and asked, "Why haven't you mentioned having a younger brother before?"

“Oh, I guess I wasn’t familiar with him before.” Gu Luoqi’s expression remained unchanged.

Li Mingya didn't understand what she meant and just thought she was joking.

After hanging up the video call, Qi Sheng slowly began to help Gu Luoqi find the notebook she had mentioned.

Even though he was resistant to the idea, the thought that if he didn't help, Gu would nag him for ages made him realize that he wasn't so resistant after all.

He glanced at her briefly, not noticing the notebook she mentioned, but his gaze was drawn to something on the very top of the bookshelf.

It was a 4x4 Rubik's Cube lying in the corner, made of the kind of plastic commonly found on the market, and it looked rather cheap.

Perhaps due to the passage of time, its color has faded somewhat, making it appear rather dull. Lying there quietly, it seems out of place in the rest of the room.

His eyes darkened, and he felt an inexplicable urge to take it down.

The boy was not short, so he could easily reach the innermost Rubik's Cube.

He looked at the object in his hand; it was covered in dust, especially in the crevices. It was clear that the object had been there for many years and no one had touched it.

Even the boy's hands, with their distinct bones and perfect craftsmanship, were covered in dust.

It's likely that the room's owner forgot about it.

But to everyone's surprise, he didn't show any disgust.

What first caught his eye was not how dirty the object itself was, but its damaged parts.

It's missing a corner.

Although its structure is relatively complete, it is ultimately missing a piece.

Qi Sheng stroked the chipped edge with his hand, his expression slightly dazed.

"Here you go." The delicate-looking little boy handed the Rubik's Cube to the fierce-looking little girl in front of him.

The little girl was chubby with baby fat on her face, and she looked sweet and soft, but it was clear that she disliked the little boy in front of her.

The Rubik's Cube in the boy's hand was the only toy he brought home, and he wanted to give it to her.

His aunt told him that this little girl would be his older sister from now on, and since he was a boy, he should take the initiative to go and play with her.

"I don't care." The delicate little girl frowned, looking at the thing in his hand with disdain.

The little boy stood there, somewhat uneasy, because of her words. He was at a loss and looked at her blankly.

He didn't even know why the little girl in front of him was angry, since he hadn't spoken to her before.

He thought for a moment with his little head and suddenly remembered that she had many toys that he had never seen before, so she probably didn't need his.

Thinking of this, he lowered his head slightly, a hint of envy in his eyes.

But the movement in his hands didn't change, because it was different from other things; it was a gift from him to her.

As a young man, he didn't know if his thinking was right or wrong.

"Do you know how annoying you are!" The little girl's eyes showed even more annoyance when she saw his stubbornness.

That's probably how kids are; they don't hide anything they hate, and they don't even know what it means.

She shoved him hard.

Compared to the chubby little girl at this stage, the little boy was a bit smaller.

Just like someone suffering from malnutrition, they don't have much fat on their body.

So she easily pushed him down, and the Rubik's Cube in his hand fell heavily out of his hand. He saw out of the corner of his eye that it seemed to have broken.

But the next moment, his aunt picked him up. His aunt looked at him with a strange expression, a mixture of heartache, anger, and some other indescribable emotions.

Mr. Gu also rushed over at this moment, his eyes filled with reproach and disappointment as he looked at the girl.

But he chose to say nothing.

The little boy stared at the little girl who was standing still.

I noticed a hint of panic in her eyes, her eyes were red-rimmed, but her gaze held a stubbornness.

"Dad," she murmured, but her eyes were wide open, staring at her father.

It was as if she was trying her best to prove that she was not wrong.

Mr. Gu sighed softly and said simply, "Let's go back to our room." He then turned around and gestured for her to follow.

This time, the little girl didn't say anything. She just followed behind her father, finally behaving like a child who had done something wrong.

His aunt carried him away, asking gently, "Did you hurt yourself?"

He didn't speak, but just shook his head, glanced at the shattered Rubik's Cube around the corner, and watched it slowly disappear from his sight.

He thought, "My only toy is gone too."
