Chapter 70: Conducting Experiments?

"Do I need points?" Gu Luoqi asked calmly.

She knew the system's nature; such good fortune was not for her.

"This upgrade requires 500 points. Please confirm whether to upgrade within ten minutes. After ten minutes, the price will revert to the original 5000 points." The system's voice was flat and emotionless.

Gu Luoqi's lips twitched. Heh, she knew it.

Could we be a little less manipulative and a little more sincere? Now we're even offering her special deals.

"How many points do I have now?" Gu Luoqi asked helplessly.

I was originally planning to save up some points to redeem that basic English alphabet learning book, but now it seems like there's still a long way to go.

“548.” The system checked immediately.

Gu Luoqi's mood instantly soured upon hearing this.

Poverty broke her heart.

"What are the benefits of upgrading?" Although it's a good deal at the current price, if it's not useful, then it's better not to upgrade.

"It might trigger a special mission, or it might give you some random reward." The system was deliberately mysterious.

Gu Luoxi thought to herself that this was as good as saying nothing at all.

"Upgrade." She tried hard to suppress the pain deep in her heart.

[The system store is undergoing upgrades, please wait—]

[Shopping mall upgrade successful - please check, host.]

"Is that all?" Gu Luoxi waited for a long time but there was still no movement.

What about her special mission? And random rewards?

"That's all." The system remained remarkably calm.

Originally, it was only a possibility; everything was merely a possibility.

Gu Luoqi: "..." Heh, give me back my points.

Even so, she still planned to open the system's store and take a look.

When she opened it, she found that there was another row behind the original 'shelf', which was blurry and not very clear.

"Is this a new item?" she asked the system, looking at the extra items.

"Yes, host, you should be able to unlock the next item after leveling up."

Gu Luoqi was delighted to hear this, but after her initial joy, she began to worry again, as she didn't have any points to buy anything.

"System, are there any ways to earn points?" She felt that she was currently relying entirely on luck.

"No, being down-to-earth is the only way to succeed," the system said seriously.

“Okay.” Her tone was disappointed.

Since there was no other way, she could only continue. She planned to finish writing the notes in front of her and then go out to show off her cooking skills.

She opened her recipe and planned to "talk about it on paper" for a while first.

To avoid being in a rush in the kitchen later.

She watched it intently and even started taking notes.

"500 grams of low-gluten flour, 100 grams of all-purpose flour, 50 grams of egg yolks..." she muttered to herself.

The system felt that she wasn't learning to cook, but rather concocting poison.

After watching a video, she relaxed. "I'm exhausted, even more tired than studying."

After looking at it for a long time, she still hadn't figured out what she was supposed to do.

She decided to ask Little Orange.

She opened her phone and saw Su Yan's message.

"Going out to play?"

She immediately refused.

I have no idea what this bastard is planning to do, he's so persistent.

After thinking about it, she still felt that studying food was the most important thing.

She called Xiao Chengzi directly.

The phone rang for a long time before it was answered. "What?" Little Orange's voice sounded very impatient.

"Why did it take you so long to answer my call?" Gu Luoqi asked, sounding like a neglected wife.

"Taking a shower," Xiao Chengzi said while drying her hair on the phone.

She was furious; she vowed that if it weren't for something important, she would have twisted her head off.

"I plan to cook something for you myself," Gu Luoqi said excitedly.

Now it's time to showcase her impressive hands-on skills.

"Are you sure?" Cheng Cheng asked doubtfully.

Because she felt that given her level of laziness, she shouldn't be doing this.

"Okay, you can order. If you have time, let's go buy some groceries together later." Gu Luoqi's tone was full of self-confidence.

"Okay." Little Orange felt good about herself and thought it was okay to go out for a walk.

An hour later, Gu Luoqi saw the small oranges at the entrance of the vegetable market.

"A day apart feels like three autumns." She quickly rushed towards Cheng Cheng.

Cheng Cheng looked at the lumps of 'trash' hanging on her body and said, "You... let go, I can't breathe."

Gu Luoqi quickly let go of her, "I'm sorry, I was too excited."

"Let's go." Cheng Cheng gestured to her with her eyes.

Despite their efforts, they completed the procurement task surprisingly smoothly, finishing it in no time.

Looking at what she held in her hands, Gu Luoxi felt a sense of accomplishment.

She felt like she was back to normal.

"Let's go back," she said with a smile.

"Then I'm going home." Little Orange was about to say goodbye to her.

"It's still early, come to my house and help me out." Gu Luoqi planned to lure this readily available cheap laborer home.

"Forget it, I'm too lazy to go." Cheng Cheng yawned.

If I go home now, I can even take a nap!

Of course, no matter how determined she was at first, Gu Luoqi always managed to find a reason to persuade her in the end.

An hour later, they returned home on time.

They had just returned when they saw Aunt Qi coming out of the kitchen.

"Cheng Cheng is here too? Have you eaten yet? We just finished eating, would you like us to heat it up again?" Aunt Qi smiled gently, a few fine lines appearing at the corners of her eyes.
