Chapter 78 "Deeply Tortured"

She drank a few sips of water and felt her throat, which had been burning, was much better.

"Luo Xi! How are you feeling?" Mr. Gu walked over quickly, his face full of concern.

"Dad, I'm fine," Gu Luoqi replied obediently, a rare occurrence for her.

"Are you really alright? Are you feeling unwell?" Mr. Gu clearly didn't quite believe her.

Could it be because she didn't want them to worry, so...?

He was overthinking it.

After Gu Luoqi confirmed with the system once again that she was alright, she instantly relaxed. "I'm really fine."

"Are you hungry? Your Aunt Qi is going to prepare something for you," Mr. Gu said gently.

At this moment, he showed a gentleness he didn't usually display, at least that's what Gu Luoqi thought.

However, she couldn't stand her father's excessive enthusiasm.

"Dad, you go ahead and do your work, I'm fine." She remembered that her father had been quite busy these past few days, after all, he still had to support the family.

"Alright, I feel much more at ease with Qi Sheng here."

After saying that, he left.

Gone…

Gu Luoqi looked at his retreating figure with resentment. Ah, she knew it.

He shouldn't be so worried about Qi Sheng being here.

Didn't he know they had a history of conflict?

Aren't you afraid that her own daughter will suffer retaliation?

In an instant, only Qi Sheng and she remained in the room.

Qi Sheng calmly played on her phone, while she couldn't do anything.

"Can I go home after this is done?" she broke the silence, pointing to the IV tube in her hand.

"Hmm." Concise and to the point, that's very Qi Sheng.

Gu Luoqi rolled her eyes at this. This guy's appearance made her feel that the person who obediently called her "sister" yesterday was not him at all.

Qi Sheng's indifference led to repeated setbacks for her, which left her completely baffled. "System, how did I offend him?"

She sensed something was off. Forget about catching up with yesterday's enthusiasm, you should at least strike up a conversation.

"Maybe you didn't save him in your dream," the system joked.

Once it detected that her emotions had returned to normal, it began to run rampant.

"Hehe, it was just a dream, and he didn't even know it." Gu Luoqi had completely forgotten the fear she had felt when she was dominated by nightmares.

As the mind begins to stir, the body starts to protest.

She remembered that she had fainted without even having breakfast, and now it was almost afternoon.

"I think I'm a little hungry." She was slightly embarrassed; Qi Sheng had asked her if she wanted something to eat, but she had refused.

"Should I ask Qi Sheng to buy you something to eat?" the system cautiously probed.

"Never mind then." She had already refused, and now she's trying to pull this stunt again.

Just then, her stomach rumbled at the perfect moment…

Qi Sheng looked up at her slightly, and the scene was extremely awkward.

"Are you sure you don't want to eat anything?" Qi Sheng raised an eyebrow.

"I...I'm not quite sure right now." Gu Luoqi lowered her head somewhat embarrassed.

Upon hearing this, Qi Sheng went out without pausing.

"Why didn't you do this earlier? You're just suffering for the sake of saving face," the system said leisurely.

"No, I really wasn't that hungry just now," Gu Luoqi explained weakly. Perhaps she herself felt weak, as her voice grew softer and softer.

Just then, Xiao Chengzi suddenly called her. When she answered, she heard Xiao Chengzi's uniquely loud voice.

"Are you alright?" The voice carried a hint of anxiety.

“Aside from being a little hungry, everything else is fine,” Gu Luoqi cleared her throat before speaking.

"Thank goodness you're alright." Little Orange's voice carried a hint of relief.

"What's wrong? Are you being overly concerned about me?" Gu Luoqi's tone was full of teasing.

"I'm just worried that if you're gone, there will be no one to cook for me." Little Orange's voice sounded a little aggrieved.

Gu Luoqi: "..." Well, I didn't expect Xiao Chengzi to be this kind of person.

"Never mind, our friendship has faded," she said wistfully.

"When will you come to class?" Little Orange asked more seriously.

"Tomorrow, after all, I'm not really sick," Gu Luoqi said after a moment's thought.

"Okay, make sure you come early." Little Orange's voice suddenly became ambiguous.

"What the hell?" Gu Luoqi felt somewhat confused.

“Your old flame came to see you today, and I told him you were sick,” Little Orange said excitedly.

"What old flame, Su Yan???" Gu Luoqi's mind went blank for a few seconds.

"You got it right, but there's no reward. Oh, and he'll probably call you later," Little Orange reminded her slowly.

"It's over, you're finished." Gu Luoqi suddenly felt her head throbbing again, and her body instantly felt weak again.

"It's nothing, it's not a big deal, you can handle it slowly, bye." After saying that, Xiao Chengzi preemptively hung up the phone, leaving Gu Luoqi alone in a mess.

She felt like she'd punched cotton, with nowhere to vent her anger.

hateful…

She slightly raised her eyes and found that Qi Sheng had already appeared by the door.

Seeing the things he was carrying, she felt her hunger intensify.

"Here you go." Qi Sheng handed the item to her without even opening the packaging.

Gu Luoqi: "..." She's a patient, okay? Why is he treating her like this?

"My hand might not be too empty." She gestured with her eyes to her hand with the IV drip in it.

"Oh." Qi Sheng quickly opened the package and looked up to see Gu Luoqi staring at him expectantly.

"Shall I feed you?" He smiled slightly.

"Mmm." Gu Luoqi nodded quickly, looking like a good girl.

"You wish!" Qi Sheng said mercilessly.

Gu Luoqi: "..." Damn it, she's here to be bullied, isn't she?

She glared at him and exclaimed, "Oh, that's going too far!"

"You've gone too far! Is this how you treat a patient?"

"You seem perfectly normal to me." Qi Sheng pretended to look her up and down a few times.

She speaks with a strong voice; how could she possibly look like a patient?

"You're going to drive me crazy!" Gu Luoqi was speechless.

Qi Sheng disagreed; he didn't think so.

"Put it here, I'll do it myself." Gu Luoqi pointed to the small cabinet next to her.

She should be able to get something to eat if she tries hard enough.

Qi Sheng obediently put the things down without any hesitation.

Gu Luoqi glared angrily at the white porridge placed next to her.

Ugh, how infuriating! They didn't even give her a single pickled vegetable.

Well, plain porridge is fine. Something is better than nothing. She no longer had any expectations for Qi Sheng.

She began her journey of drinking porridge with a crooked mouth and slanted eyes, a scene resembling that of a person who is paralyzed from the waist down and suffering from abuse.

Qi Sheng, standing to the side, also found it quite acceptable.

Gu Luoxi couldn't help but think about her current miserable state, and her eyes reddened as she thought about it.

I never imagined she would fall to such a state.

"Host, don't cry. It's just a bowl of porridge. We'll take it slow." The system quickly spoke up, afraid that she would lose control of her emotions again.

Gu Luoqi: "..." You make it sound so easy, why don't you give it a try?
