Chapter 15 Leaving Yulin

Kang Jing came to Yan Mansion again, and this time he returned all of Yan Cheng's people to him.

Yan Cheng saw him with a relieved smile on his face when he came to return the people, and expressed his concern to him: "Mrs. Lin has a son. I remember he is a few years older than you. Does he know what Mrs. Lin has done?"

"I don't know whether Third Brother knows what Aunt Lin did or not, but he knows that Aunt Lin died of poisoning. Maybe he will pursue the truth about Mother's death like I did."

"But I've made every possible preparation. He won't find out that it was me who poisoned Aunt Lin."

"And even if he knew that I killed Aunt Lin, it wouldn't matter. I don't feel I did anything wrong. Killing someone means paying with your life. Aunt Lin killed my mother, so I killed her. If Third Brother wants to kill me, that's fine, as long as he has the ability."

Yan Cheng looked at Kang Jing's determined expression in the sun and felt that he had changed. He had become more mature and more responsible.

Kang Jing avoided Yan Cheng's gaze and looked into the distance at the dark sky that seemed to be falling: "Brother Cheng, do you know why Aunt Lin wanted to kill my mother?"

Without waiting for Yan Cheng to ask why, he answered without thinking, "Because my mother is the main wife, my father always gives her the best things, and the rest is divided equally among the women in the backyard."

"After so many years of unequal treatment, her jealousy could no longer be suppressed. She thought that if she killed my mother, my father would be able to treat every woman in the backyard equally."

Yan Cheng was stunned, his pupils filled with shock.

"Isn't it ridiculous?"

Kang Jing's eyes were filled with unconcealable sarcasm, "For this reason, she killed my mother. My mother was the wife of the first wife, and all those things were what she deserved."

"If that woman didn't want to be treated unfairly by a man, she wouldn't have to be a concubine. She's the legitimate daughter of a wealthy merchant family and could easily have been the wife of an ordinary family. But she became my father's concubine out of some illusory love."

"She went crazy in the end. In fact, she not only wanted to kill my mother, but also wanted to kill all the women in my father's backyard. She just didn't have time to do it."

Kang Jing's eyes were cold, and the arc of sarcasm at the corner of his mouth became even bigger: "Speaking of which, those concubines should thank me. If I hadn't dealt with that woman, I don't know who would be the next to die."

After Kang Jing left, Yan Cheng said with emotion: "Crazy women are really scary."

One upset almost killed all the competitors.

"Fortunately, I'm not a woman." Leng Yan said thankfully. If he were a woman, the little guy would think he was scary and ignore him.

By the time the eldest wife of the Yan family in the capital received the letter from Yan Cheng and learned that he would come to the capital later, Yan Cheng had already left Yulin Prefecture.

He left very early, and the convoy left the city just moments after the city gate opened. He did not tell any of his friends in advance that he would leave Yulin Prefecture on this day, including Kang Jing and Feng Guang.

It wouldn’t be so sad if they didn’t have to say goodbye reluctantly, Yan Cheng thought. They were all walking on the same path and would meet again in the future.

What he didn't know was that as soon as his convoy left Yulin Prefecture, he met two young men on the city wall.

"...Brother Jing, you have lost a lot of weight." Feng Guang didn't expect that when he saw Kang Jing again after many days, Kang Jing would become so thin. He looked even thinner than him.

You have to know that his body is not naturally healthy. Although he has taken care of himself over the years, his health is still not better than that of ordinary people, so he is thinner than his peers.

However, Kang Jing's face had a resolute expression, and he no longer had the joking tone of his past words and actions. It seemed that he had come out of the sadness of losing his mother and had become more mature.

"I was a little fat before, but now it's just right. Don't you think I look more handsome?"

Kang Jing passed over the topic in a few words and looked down at the city wall.

"Brother Cheng is too naive. He really thinks that by not telling us when he's leaving, we'll give up seeing him off. Doesn't he know that we'll send people to keep an eye on his house?"

Feng Guang laughed and said, "Perhaps it's because he's in a difficult position. Although Brother Cheng is very smart in big things, he can be careless in small things occasionally. That's nothing serious."

"Brother Cheng is still a child after all. Children just don't think things through."

Fourteen-year-old Kang Jing made this comment.

"Huh? Brother Jing, we've been discovered. Brother Cheng's personal guard has a very sharp eye."

Feng Guang was talking to Kang Jing while watching the convoy go away. As he was watching, he noticed a head sticking out of the carriage window. Their eyes met from a distance, and then the head retracted.

The car window curtain dropped and then lifted up again, and then he saw Yan Cheng's head from the car window.

There was nothing he could do. After being discovered, he could only smile brightly and move his mouth to make a mouth shape of wishing you a safe journey.

He knew Yan Cheng could understand what he meant.

"I thought I could secretly see him off, and then tease him about it next time we meet, but I didn't expect it to be discovered."

Kang Jing said this with regret, but when he turned his head to face the convoy, he still said solemnly, "Have a safe trip, see you soon," etc.

Yan Cheng's face turned red in the carriage, feeling embarrassed. He thought he was leaving quietly, but he didn't expect that his friends all knew he was leaving today, and they silently ran to the city wall to see him off.

But he had to admit that he felt good knowing that some of his friends were thinking about him behind his back. The pure friendship of youth was truly a joyful thing.

He took a few deep breaths, stuck his head out and waved goodbye to his friends on the city wall, his eyes a little hot.

Goodbye, my friends.

The two young men on the city wall also waved their hands. The wind blew their long hair and thin clothes. The convoy went farther and farther away, until finally there was only a black dot left in their eyes.

"Let's go!" Kang Jing spoke first, an unignorable sigh escaping from his mouth, "Now there are only two of us left."

Feng Guang didn't say anything. Kang Jing looked over and realized that he was crying. He felt dizzy for a moment. When he came to his senses, he numbly handed the handkerchief to the other party.

This guy cries too much, doesn't he?

This is the first time I've seen him cry.

Feng Guang wiped his tears with a handkerchief embroidered with bamboo: "Wow, why did Brother Cheng leave?"

"..." Kang Jing was speechless, elbowing him below the waist. "It's just that I'm familiar with you and know what you mean. If others heard you say that, they would think something happened to Brother Cheng."

"Huh? That's not what I meant."

Feng Guang realized belatedly that his words were ambiguous. He quickly covered his mouth and looked at Kang Jing with a pair of cat eyes in panic, without shedding a tear.

"Alright, alright, we've known each other for so many years, how could I not understand you? Let's go, I haven't had breakfast yet."

"Oh, then I'll treat you to breakfast."

"Okay, it just so happens that I don't want to eat at home at all."
