Seeing Gu Lianyi's decisive reply, I was slightly taken aback. Suddenly, I had a feeling that I was about to be tricked again, which made me sigh. I was too lazy to reply to Gu Lianyi anymore and simply put my phone away.
It was only then that I noticed that Yan Yin had somehow gotten close to me.
"elder brother."
"Um?"
"I'm sleepy."
"Then let's hurry home," I said with a smile.
Yan Yin, however, took my hand and said somewhat shyly, "Brother, I can't walk anymore."
"Then I'll carry you on my back?"
"Great!"
I squatted down and carried Yan Yin on my back. Yan Yin was actually very light. At fourteen years old, she was very small, so I didn't feel anything carrying her.
However, I could sense that something was off about Yan Yin.
I didn't ask, and just carried her on my back, walking slowly.
The streetlights cast our shadows very long.
For the first time, I had a glimmer of hope: how wonderful it would be if this road had no end?
But as soon as the thought came to mind, I subconsciously put it out of my mind.
It's impossible for me and Yan Yin.
Just then, Yan Yin suddenly asked in my ear, "Brother, do you like me?"
"I like you," I said with a smile. "How could I not like you?"
"Then, brother, are you willing to stay with me forever?" Yan Yin asked again.
"Hmm...maybe not." I thought for a moment and said.
Yan Yin gripped my hand noticeably tighter, and I suddenly felt a little annoyed.
Yan Yin then whispered, "Why?"
"Shouldn't people who like each other stay together forever?"
"Because you will meet someone you love in the future, you will be with him, then get married, have children, and have your own new home. At that time, I naturally won't be able to be with you anymore." I said with a smile, suppressing my annoyance.
I don't know what's bothering me.
Just mentioning this topic makes me feel inexplicably irritable.
"I don't want to marry anyone else," Yan Yin said after a moment of silence.
"Why don't you want to?" I countered.
This time, Yan Yin didn't answer me. She just lay on my back, her hands gripping me even tighter.
We remained silent until we returned to the coffin shop.
After Yan Yin got off me, she said, "Brother, I'm going to wash up and go to bed."
"Okay." I nodded.
Watching Yan Yin's retreating figure as she went back to her room, I couldn't help but pull out a cigarette that I hadn't touched for days.
"Something on your mind?" Yan Shan walked over and took a cigarette from him.
I shook my head.
Yan Shan added, "At such a young age, don't keep everything bottled up inside."
"When I was your age, I always spoke my mind and never held back."
"I said no," I said impatiently.
Yan Shan paused for a moment, squinted at me, and then laughed, "You brat, you've got a temper now?"
"Did you have a fight with Yan Yin?"
"No." I lit a cigarette.
Yan Shan was silent for a while before saying, "Actually, I can tell that Yan Yin treats you differently."
"If you have any misunderstandings, just say them. She's still young and won't hold a grudge."
I looked at Yan Shan and said helplessly, "You're here again, aren't you?"
"I'm teaching you," Yan Shan said calmly.
"Forget it," I said irritably. "You should solve your single status problem first."
"Hey, you little rascal..."
I ignored Yan Shan, put out my cigarette, and went back to my room.
I just lay in bed, tossing and turning, but I just couldn't fall asleep.
My mind is filled with images of Yan Yin.
After a long while, I got out of bed.
It was already late at night.
I arrived at Yan Yin's room.
