Chapter 25 is the sun...it's sunlight! (1/2)

Yan Yin smiled broadly as she said this.

Although I'm not sure if she was truly happy, at least at this moment, her smile no longer felt like it had that subtle, indescribable sadness that it used to evoke.

She seems to have come to some understanding of her impending death.

Even though you can understand this kind of thing, sometimes it's still a kind of sadness.

I nodded and said, "Indeed, too ugly is not good either."

"Your drawing is really good."

"How about... you paint one for my coffin too?"

“I drew it!” Yan Yin pointed to the other coffin. “Look, I drew it for you first.”

"But the sunflower I drew for you wasn't one."

"It's the sun..."

"It's sunlight!"

sun?

Sunlight?

I paused for a moment, and at the same time looked at the coffin that Yan Yin was pointing to. There was indeed a simple painting on it.

It was indeed a sun, with sunlight faintly shining down.

"Why these?" I asked, staring at the painting.

"Actually, I originally wanted to draw sunflowers for you, but I felt that you don't lack hope. You're just a little down. You just habitually hide yourself in dark corners."

"So I think what you need most is sunshine."

"I hope that if there is a next life, your life will be bathed in sunshine, and it will always be sunny, not cloudy."

Yan Yin explained timidly, but seeing that I didn't speak, she glanced at me and quickly added, "But...but if you don't like it..."

"I'll draw you a new one."

"No need," I said with a smile and a shake of my head. "It's fine."

I will remember your hopes.

"If there is a next life, I will definitely do as you say."

"Really?"

"real!"

"That's great!"

"But before that, could you do something with me..." I looked at Yan Yin seriously.

"What's wrong?"

Yan Yin looked at me with a puzzled expression.

After hesitating for a moment, I said, "Come with me for treatment. Although my situation is somewhat special, I still have the money to pay for your treatment."

"Like you said, medical technology is very advanced now, maybe your illness can still be cured?"

"You want hope..."

"Then I'll give you one chance!"

At this point, I added, "Don't worry, you don't need to pay it back."

Actually, I hadn't thought about this before. After all, I had long since become indifferent to death. Although I was unwilling, I was prepared. So when I first heard about Yan Yin's situation, although I sympathized with her, that was all I felt. I just felt that the world was so cruel to this girl.

But now, I have an urge to keep her alive as much as possible.

I don't know why.

Perhaps it was the sunflower she painted.

Perhaps it was the hope she gave me, the sunshine she showed me.

Or perhaps, when I saw these two paintings of coffins, a word suddenly popped into my head.

Growing towards the sun.

Perhaps even Yan Yin herself didn't realize that, subconsciously, she regarded me as her sunshine. If that's the case, then I should give her hope.

Even if it's just hope.

Upon hearing my words, Yan Yin fell silent. She was still smiling, but it was clearly becoming somewhat forced.

After waiting a while, she said, "No... I won't get treatment."
