Chapter 80 Future Ideas, Source Projects (1/2)

Before we knew it, it was noon.

Yan Yin originally wanted to keep it, but due to Yan Hai's insistence on acting in her father's name, she reluctantly boarded the three-wheeled motorcycle.

When I left, Yan Yin gave me a sunflower.

It was a wooden sunflower that Yan Shan made for her after she pestered him all morning.

Yan Yin liked it very much.

But she still gave it to me.

She said she also liked me, her older brother.

As for what she likes, I don't know, but what could a fourteen-year-old possibly like?

...

"Kid, what do you want to learn?"

After cleaning the coffin shop, Yan Shan brought a boxed lunch to me, sat down in front of me, and asked me questions while eating.

I thought about it and decided to tell the truth.

"I don't want to learn anything."

I can deceive Yan Hai with good intentions, but I can't do that here in Yan Shan.

The white lie was meant to prevent Yan Hai and his family from having any other ideas, while my intention with Yan Shan was more to establish a cooperative relationship with him.

Upon hearing my words, Yan Shan paused for a moment before laughing and saying, "If you don't want to learn anything, what are you doing here?"

"Yan Hai said you were interested in this line of work, which is why I agreed to let you come here as an apprentice."

“Having an interest doesn’t necessarily mean you have to learn those things.” I glanced at the coffins. “I certainly can’t do the craftsmanship, but I am indeed interested in funerals.”

"Heh..." Yan Shan put down his chopsticks, his expression revealing neither joy nor anger.

"Since you're not interested in crafts."

"So what do you want to do?"

"Young man."

"If you're looking to come here for entertainment, you've come to the wrong place."

I didn't answer him. Instead, while eating, I looked at him and asked in return, "Uncle, have you ever thought about making this coffin shop bigger and stronger?"

"My coffins are famous not only in the entire coastal area, but also in the surrounding neighborhoods and the whole old town. You could say no one can compare to me," Yan Shan said with a smile. "What else do you think I need to do?"

I shook my head and said, "That's different."

"You are indeed very skilled in craftsmanship, but it's not enough."

"What you've made is ultimately just a coffin, and coffins are for the dead."

"This in itself is a limitation."

"Yan Hai sent you to persuade me?" Yan Shan's face suddenly turned cold. "Then you can give up on that idea. I'll only ever make coffins. I won't touch anything else."

Hearing this, I couldn't help but roll my eyes inwardly.

Yan Yin's sunflowers are still with me.

I was too embarrassed to call him out on it.

However, I'm not saying this to persuade him to develop other things.

Facing his increasingly unfriendly gaze, I calmly said, "Uncle Yan Hai did mention this to me before he came, but I'm telling you this not because of that."

"Spit it out!" Yan Shan said bluntly.

Yan Hai had said before that Yan Shan had an eccentric temper, and now it seems that's true. But I can understand it; Yan Shan does have some talent, and could even be considered an artist.

However, what he's good at is making coffins.

It's normal for such people to have some quirks.

But it is precisely these kinds of people who value one thing most: fame!

Have you ever thought about letting more people know that the coffins you make are good?

I looked at Yan Shan seriously and said.

"What do you mean?" Yan Shan frowned slightly.

"It means exactly what it says." I continued, "Your skills are indeed famous now. I saw it when you first came here, and some people even come here specifically because of your reputation."

"But like I said, you're making coffins. If you're particular about coffins, the deceased's family might be willing to get a better one. But if they're not so particular, any coffin will do."
