The first continent, Tianhai City.
On a small path in a dark street, two figures, one tall and one short, walked side by side in the crowd.
The short young girl has bright eyes and is holding a piece of hawthorn ice cream in her hand; the tall adult woman has long flowing hair, her white hair like a waterfall, which is quite eye-catching.
The two people were Bai Yuejian and Lu Xiaoye who had just returned from traveling. They had just returned to Tianhai today and were still looking for a place to live.
"Master, how are we going to find Uncle Chu next?" Lu Xiaoye licked his lips that were stained red by the ice cream.
Uncle Master is a respectful title, and she was referring to Chu Yao.
It seems that Bai Yuejian still accepted Xiaoye as her apprentice. I wonder why she changed her mind after not accepting a disciple for a hundred years.
"Don't worry. With your Uncle Chu's temper, he would have already turned Tianhai upside down. Let's ask someone, maybe we can find a clue."
"Yeah." Lu Xiaoye nodded.
Although she had only spent a short time with Chu Yao, she was deeply impressed by this uncle with an eccentric personality.
Looking at the familiar street scene in front of him, Xiaoye couldn't help but feel emotional.
Two years had passed in a flash, and everything was still the same. However, there were some changes. She didn't know if it was her imagination, but the security in the dark streets seemed to be much better than before.
She remembered that the dark streets in the past were very chaotic even in broad daylight, with frequent fights between hooligans, and theft and robbery on the streets were commonplace.
But now you hardly see such people. There are more vendors pushing carts and more passers-by strolling around.
Three girls in school uniforms chattered as they passed by the two of them, running towards a nearby milk tea shop. Looking at them, Xiaoye's eyes were filled with memories.
She is already seventeen this year. If she hadn't met Chu Yao and Bai Yuejian, she would either be working or studying in high school.
A chance encounter changed her life.
"Master, I... want to visit Grandpa's grave."
"Of course. But we need to find a place to stay first. Let me take a look at the map..." Bai Yuejian looked at the phone.
In the past two years, they have not been living a hermit life in the mountains. They have traveled to almost all the cities and towns on the First Continent.
Bai Yuejian's understanding of celestial society and technology was no less than Chu Yao's. Before arriving in Tianhai City, she had booked a hotel on her phone.
Lu Xiaoye was silently eating ice cream beside her. Just as he was thinking about whether to have some milk tea, he suddenly stopped moving and a sharp look flashed in his eyes.
She glanced around secretly and whispered into Bai Yuejian's ear:
"Master, someone is following us."
"He's been following us for five minutes." Bai Yuejian's gaze was still fixed on the phone screen, seemingly unconcerned about being followed. "I know what you're thinking. Go ahead and find out more about this guy, and try to avoid being seen."
"Okay." Lu Xiaoye threw the popsicle stick into the trash can beside him, waved his hand in front of his chest, and then suddenly disappeared from the spot.
Except for the stalkers at a distant corner, no one noticed a little girl disappearing into the crowd.
The stalker, a young man in his twenties, was startled.
How come one of them is missing when I look up? Where did that girl go?
The panicked young man stood on tiptoe and looked around. Before he could look far, he suddenly felt a strong force behind him and was dragged by his clothes into a narrow alley that was only one person wide.
The young man's body shuddered, and he saw the disappeared girl appear in front of him, one hand on his collar, with a cold look in her eyes.
"Tell me, why are you following us?"
Lu Xiaoye even held a short knife in his other hand, and the cold blade was pressed against the young man's neck, making him break out in a cold sweat.
"Wait, wait a minute! Don't be impatient... Your name is Lu Xiaoye, right?"
The short knife came closer, and Xiao Ye's face tightened: "Why do you know my name? Tell me, swords have no eyes!"
"I have no ill intentions! I'm from Cat's Eye..." The young man seemed to want to explain his identity, but thinking of his superior's instructions, he changed his words:
"It was Sister Chu who asked us to come find you!"
"Sister Chu?" Lu Xiaoye was stunned.
Apart from her uncle, she didn't seem to know anyone else with the surname Chu.
Lu Xiaoye thought for a moment, retracted the dagger, and brought the young man to Bai Yuejian.
Bai Yuejian was not surprised by the young man's intention. They found a cafe nearby and sat down to talk.
The young man, still trembling with fear, touched his neck and revealed his identity and origin to the two men.
"Maowei Company." Bai Yuejian took a sip of coffee and repeated the name, "Chu Xiaoye, is this the name of your chairman?"
"Yes. My superiors said that if we find you, we must bring you to the third continent as soon as possible. So I beg you to be flexible. I am only following orders."
"When was this order issued?"
"About two days ago." The young man thought about it and felt that this was not a secret that could not be told.
If you want to complete your mission, you must first gain the trust of both of them.
"Two days? Why are you so anxious?"
"I'm sorry, that's not something I can know. Our job is to find people. I just know that the higher-ups are urging us to do so urgently." The young man's movements were a little awkward.
Bai Yuejian turned her head and glanced at Lu Xiaoye: "Xiaoye, you don't have to stare at him like that."
"Hmph, sneaking around like that, you don't look like a good person! Are we supposed to believe everything you say? Since you're from Maowei Company, why can't you produce any evidence?"
