Chu Yao followed Aaron and the frightened Tian Qiu all the way to a building in the center of the island.
The room was like a pavilion with walls blocked off on all sides, and a cylindrical elevator installed on the inside.
"Keep going forward after you reach the end." Aaron gave Tianqiu orders directly without saying any more nonsense.
Chu Yao followed her and stood in the center of the elevator. After Instructor Long activated a few switches on the outside, the elevator quickly sank underground. He did not follow.
Chu Yao could sense the little girl's uneasiness and anxiety, and considerately cast a few calming spells on her.
The elevator seemed to lead to a very deep place. After walking for five minutes, Chu Yao realized that they were already below sea level.
With a buzzing sound, the elevator finally reached the bottom.
What meets the eye is a dark corridor that seems to be endless. The long tube lights decorating the steel walls on both sides are flashing with faint blue light, which looks very scary.
Tianqiu seemed a little frightened and hesitated on the spot. It was no wonder, after all, she was still young.
"What are you standing there for? Come here." An old voice sounded from the other end of the corridor.
Tianqiu mustered up her courage and took a step toward the corridor.
The old man seemed very anxious. Before Tianqiu could get over, he walked up to her and grabbed her arm with one hand.
"ah!"
She was startled and tried to resist, but the other party was too strong and the struggle was futile. She let the old man drag her into the innermost room.
Chu Yao finally saw the old man's true form: there were only a few hairs left on his bald head, the wrinkles on his face were twisted together, and the upturned corners of his eyes made him look very ferocious.
He was a very burly man, at least 1.9 meters tall, but Chu Yao did not sense any fluctuations of magical power from him, which made her feel much more at ease.
She followed the two closely and soon arrived at the old man's residence.
Walking out of the corridor, a spacious circular hall comes into view.
There is an extremely conspicuous facility in the center of the circular hall, which is hard not to notice: it is a huge glass cylinder with a slowly flowing green liquid. In the liquid, a naked child is curled up, seemingly sleeping. Chu Yao can't feel any vitality in him.
The cylinder was so wide that it would take three people to wrap their arms around it. Surrounding it were various instruments and computers, and desks were piled high with documents.
Chu Yao saw familiar things among these instruments, such as brain-computer interfaces.
The computer placed on the table right below the instrument was turned on carelessly. Chu Yao took a glance and saw some intriguing words.
"In-depth Discussion with Professor Lei (Record)" "Psychic Energy Research at the Quark Level" "Kung Fu and Spiritual Roots"...
An idea flashed through Chu Yao's mind.
After arriving at Lingyuan and the third continent, everything that happened flashed through my mind quickly.
Lian Jining, Steel Dome, Blood Guest, Doctor, Puppet Master, Human Experiments...
All the fragmented clues finally converged into a clear line, and the end of this line all pointed here.
Chu Yao had a premonition that she would get the answer she wanted here.
Tian Qiu stood there in a daze, completely stunned by the scene before her. The old man ignored her and was debugging some equipment.
After he finished debugging the instrument, he suddenly turned around, and his ghostly eyes looked towards where Chu Yao was:
"How long are you going to watch?"
"W-what?" Tian Qiu shuddered and looked behind her following his gaze, but there was nothing there.
"You can actually find me." As the voice sounded, Chu Yao's figure appeared on the spot.
Now that it has been discovered, there is no need to cover it up any further.
Tianqiu looked at the scene in shock, her two little eyes wide open. She had been frightened too much today.
"Invisibility?" The old man looked at Chu Yao calmly, as if he was looking at a dead object.
"Very calm." Chu Yao smiled slightly. "According to your words, I'm a third-level psychic, and you're not afraid."
"It's just one more experimental subject, why should I be afraid?" The old man's smile was very sinister.
"Everyone who met me said so. Unfortunately, they all fell before my sword."
"Hmm?" The old man's eyes narrowed, as if he had thought of something. "Did you kill Reginin?"
"His last name seems to be Lian." Chu Yao's smile remained on her face.
"Who are you?" the old man said in a low voice.
"Before asking the lady's name, why don't you tell me your own name first?" Chu Yao turned his wrist, and the Zihuang Sword was already in his hand.
"A mere third-level psyker, you're not even worthy of me revealing your name. Whether you're a spy from Boqu or Zhixin, since you've come to me, don't be ruthless."
The old man snapped his fingers quickly, and the corridor they came from was instantly blocked by a metal door that fell to the ground with a loud bang. An invisible pressure filled Chu Yao's heart.
The flow of her spiritual power began to slow down.
"The Soul Locking Matrix... it really has this trick. Can you guys try some new tricks?" Chu Yao's expression remained calm, and she was not afraid of the other party's methods.
"Interesting." The old man did not make a move, but looked at Chu Yao holding the sword with amusement. "This is the first time I have seen a psychic who is not afraid of the Matrix."
Both of them looked confident of winning, only Xia Tianqiu was trembling in the corner, watching the big boss talk.
"You want to avenge Lian Jining?"
"I'm not that close to him," the old man said calmly. "I admit his research is indeed valuable. He's a man of ideas... but it's a shame he went astray."
"What on earth are you people researching? Longevity? Immortality?"
"Eternal life?" The old man snorted coldly. "That's just the first step in a great journey. Your ignorance only lends credibility to your explanation."
"You're as arrogant as any researcher I've ever met." Chu Yao, who was always quick to speak, said, "Just some more dirty human experiments?"
"Dirty? Short-sighted psychic, it's a waste for the Creator to stuff such a powerful force into your stupid brains! You don't understand it at all." The old man opened his arms and looked at the "water jar" beside him.
"Look, this is the most advanced psychic technology. With it, the Celestials will enter a brand new era!"
"Someone said the same thing to me not long ago." Chu Yao danced with a sword flower. "It's a pity that he no longer has the chance to witness the next era. Compared to this, there is something else that interests me -
You're clearly a member of the Blood Alliance, but your actions contradict their principles. So, who are you working for?
"The Blood Alliance? The Nords? Or... the fading Celestial Alliance?"
