Chapter 4: Trapped Beast

The terrifying black mirror suddenly appeared in the center of the hall as before, and all the cultivators were tense and ready for battle.

Chu Yao also stared at the black mirror intently, not daring to slack off at all, ready to escape at any time.

"Two incense sticks." She heard Senior Sister Bai whispering beside her, and she understood that she was calculating the frequency of the black mirror's appearance.

In the suffocating atmosphere, the black mirror "slid" over, flying towards the place where several elders of Chongyun Sect were previously.

One of the elders, who looked young, suddenly changed his expression and turned around and stepped on the wall to get away. It looked like he was performing some light skill of climbing walls and flying over rooftops.

As expected, they are all old guys who have lived for hundreds of years. Even if they cannot use spiritual power and Taoism, they still have a few tricks of mortal martial arts that they can use.

However, the black mirror did not rush towards him, but rushed towards a woman among the three people.

Chu Yao also knew this woman. Although the Chongyun Sect and the Tianyin Sect occasionally had friction, the elders were relatively harmonious. The female elder was Liu Yun, and Chu Yao had even tasted spiritual tea with her.

Liu Yun, with her red lips, white teeth, phoenix eyes, and silky eyebrows, was incredibly beautiful, usually attracting admirers and pursuers. But now, her pretty face had lost all color. Clearly, she wasn't skilled in martial arts, and she hurriedly ran toward the crowd.

This escape was not a big deal, but it frightened the other cultivators. They panicked and dodged in all directions, fearing that they would not be able to escape.

This group of monks who were once high and mighty are now being chased around like a swarm of locusts. If there really is someone behind all this, that person must be watching this scene and laughing.

Seeing that everyone was avoiding her, Liu Yun must have become anxious. She no longer relied on her status as an elder and started cursing:

"You're a bunch of hypocritical bastards. You were so righteous when you were chasing me, but now you don't even offer me a hand. You're so heartless! You're a Nascent Soul cultivator!"

A few people looked embarrassed, their heads tilted to the side, and remained silent. They were obviously one of Liu Yun's suitors. Some people seemed to want to help, but after thinking about it, they ran away.

Living under someone else's roof, with life and death at stake, how could they have time to consider romantic interests? Putting aside the question of whether they truly loved each other, even if they were truly married, it was still unclear whether they would flee in the face of disaster.

Even mortals cherish their lives, let alone monks? Moreover, the more advanced the monks are, the more important they value their lives.

Seeing the black mirror approaching, Liu Yun was so scared that he was sweating profusely, and ran hurriedly to the location of another elder of Chongyun Sect nearby.

"What are you doing? Don't come over here!" The elder, disregarding their past friendship, shouted in alarm. He was also one of those cultivators who wasn't good at physical skills, and he looked extremely thin. He now clutched his bulky prison uniform and ran away.

The scene looks even more ridiculous:

An old man ran forward holding his clothes, cursing, and a pretty woman chased him desperately from behind, with a large black mirror following behind.

Wherever the two of them went, everyone tried their best to avoid them, and Chu Yao was forced to change positions twice.

This dramatic "race" finally came to an end, but it was not the black mirror that caught Liu Yun, but Liu Yun who caught the corner of the old man's clothes!

"Elder Li, please help me—"

The moment Liu Yun grabbed the elder surnamed Li, he used some clever trick that seemed like some mortal martial arts grappling, hugging and throwing, and the two of them switched positions in an instant!

In the eyes of everyone, the elder surnamed Li seemed to be thrown into a black mirror by Liu Yun!

"Liu Yun!! You will not die a good death--" Elder Li knew that he had fallen into Liu Yun's scheme. His face changed drastically, his eyes were bloodshot, and he let out an angry roar before disappearing into the black fog.

Black Mirror, having "eaten and drunk his fill," disappeared again. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, but still felt a lingering fear.

"Elder Liu, you passed!" The young elder who had walked over the wall earlier walked forward with a gloomy face.

"Hmph, Elder Zhu, I don't have your ability to get into the room. Do I have to wait for death if I'm stared at by that mirror?" Liu Yun sneered. "Elder Li died because of bad luck. He's not as skilled as others, so he can't blame others."

"You!" Elder Zhu's expression froze. "But we are from the same sect after all..."

"You've fallen into this state, and you're still thinking about your fellow disciples!" Liu Yun's face was also torn. "Don't you understand? We were abducted to the sky by this bastard a long time ago! Your precious sect is gone, gone! Without cultivation, we are all mortals, even worse than mortals! If you really still remember a trace of camaraderie, why didn't you die for him just now!"

These words left Elder Zhu speechless. He sighed, his expression becoming somewhat dejected. He ignored Liu Yun and simply went off to rest.

Chu Yao was eating melon silently beside him, thinking about what Liu Yun had just said.

If I had encountered this kind of thing just now, what would I have done...

She casually glanced at the senior brothers and sisters beside her.

Senior Sister Bai, that's definitely not possible. Senior Brother Chen, we had some support back then. But this old man Lu is so distant, so just throw him away if you want to!

Chu Yao smiled to herself, shaking her head to stop thinking about these messy things. There was no point in thinking about these things. If she were faced with the situation just now, she might have done something even more ruthless than Liu Yun.

There are other more important things now.

Chu Yao stood silently, gathering his strength and ensuring that his body was always alert.

After a long time, when the black mirror reappeared, Chu Yao and Bai Yuejian said in unison:

"Three quarters!"

This time, the black mirror was aimed at a monk with a face covered with tattoos.

He never talked to anyone from beginning to end, and seemed like a solitary cultivator. The tattoo on his face made him look like a madman.

Seeing that the black mirror was staring at him, he was actually one step ahead of the mirror and ran so fast that it seemed like a gust of wind was blowing. Another female cultivator nearby was caught off guard and was grabbed by the wrist by this madman and strangled in front of him.
