24. Unfavorable start
Four copy cards were lined up on the table.
The endless deep sea.
Pi Min shook her head. She was afraid of water. Just imagining the deep, dark underwater scene on the dungeon card made her feel suffocated.
Golden wheat fields.
That won't work either. Just imagining herself getting lost in an endless golden wheat field made her feel completely numb.
Eternal Night is even worse; she's afraid of the dark and would never want to enter a dungeon that uses darkness as its selling point.
Dark Castle...
Pi Min put away the dungeon cards one by one, looked at the only remaining Dark Castle on the table, and sighed deeply.
"Fine, this will do!"
Although there are dark elements, at least the vampires are visible and tangible, which is better than the other dungeons where you don't even know who the boss is.
Just as she was wondering how to use the copy card in her hand, a stream of light suddenly flashed across the door of the room. When the light dissipated, a card slot appeared on the door.
Pi Min then noticed that there was an arrow on the copy card indicating how to insert the card.
As she inserted the copy card into the slot, the originally ordinary door slowly melted, solidifying into a completely new shape like chocolate being poured into a mold.
It was a Gothic-style European carved wooden door, with layers of beautiful rose vine patterns that were dazzling to the eye. Even the brass door handle was made in the shape of a rosebud.
Just as she reached for the doorknob, the private messages on the game panel started flashing wildly again.
Upon clicking, it still said "I hate bugs the most": "Are you crazy? Of all the dungeons, why did you have to choose this one? The boss in this dungeon is a monster!"
"I hate bugs the most" was that man's pseudonym. In her eyes, that man was an anti-human villain. If this were a novel, that guy would definitely be the undisputed number one antagonist.
When you don't know what to do, just go against the villains.
Imagining the man's exasperated expression, Pi Min couldn't help but laugh, even though she knew it was childish.
The door opened, and what appeared before me was not an endless universe, but a long corridor.
On both sides of the corridor were familiar wooden doors with carved rose branches. Just as she stepped onto the corridor, several more wooden doors opened inward, and several girls with the same bewildered expressions as her walked out.
After that, doors kept opening, and one after another, young girls of similar age emerged.
Only when no one else emerged from behind the wooden door did Pi Min realize with shock that all the players in this instance were women. An all-female instance was one thing, but what surprised her even more was that every single one of the players was beautiful. A diverse array of beauties, from plump to slender, was breathtaking.
Just as she couldn't help but marvel at what a feast for the eyes this dungeon was, she suddenly felt a burning gaze fall on her face.
Upon closer inspection, I realized she was a tall, slender, and stunningly beautiful woman with long, straight black hair.
The moment their eyes met, she felt a chill run down her spine.
Help! It seems she's being targeted by a lesbian!
Having been in a relationship before, she was no longer the naive little girl who couldn't read people's eyes; she could now understand the hidden meanings in others' gazes.
The way that beautiful woman with long, straight black hair looked at her from not far away was definitely not innocent.
Even though she's a lesbian, she's really beautiful.
Her face was delicate, with long eyelashes, and a high, straight nose that softened the delicate, feminine look, adding a touch of heroic spirit. She also had a great figure—a slim waist and long legs; she looked to be over 185cm tall, a supermodel's physique.
With her delicate face and tall figure, she still stood out from the crowd of beauties.
Pi Min couldn't help but glance at her a few more times, until their eyes accidentally met, at which point she awkwardly looked away.
Just as she was feeling a little uncomfortable under the other person's burning gaze, an elderly man with white hair dressed as a butler slowly walked out from the end of the corridor.
The old man walked up to the crowd and stood still, bowing gracefully.
"Welcome, players, to Dark Night Castle. I am Fred, your butler. You are all beauties chosen by my Earl from among many players. The most outstanding among you will have the honor of becoming the Earl's bride. Before that, you will face the Earl's test. Only those who pass the test will be qualified to participate in the final ball and compete for the throne of Countess."
The Count's Bride? The Countess's Throne?
Pi Min finally understood why that man had said the boss of this dungeon was a pervert.
This is really insane! It's one thing to select people based on their looks, but to even offer the status of a countess as a reward is another matter entirely. Is this dungeon boss insane? These people are here to play a game and get rewards, not to be a countess's bride.
Being inexplicably thrust into a concubine selection scenario, only to be rewarded with becoming the bride of a man you've never even met, would infuriate anyone.
Sure enough, almost all the girls looked as if they had swallowed a fly.
"It's getting late. The Earl has prepared rooms for you all. Please, all thirty-six beauties, rest early and conserve your energy for tomorrow's test." The butler said, then suddenly frowned.
"Huh, why is there one more?"
After a brief pause, he smiled and shook his head, muttering to himself as if to comfort himself: "It's alright, only a true princess is qualified to attend the final ball."
After speaking, he cleared his throat and raised his voice: "Now, ladies, you may begin choosing your rooms. Players who do not enter a room before the clock strikes twelve will be eliminated."
Just as he began to speak, the girls had already started counting the number of people in the corridor, and some of them had already noticed the mismatch between the number of people and the number of rooms.
As soon as he finished speaking, someone swiftly entered the nearest room and locked the door.
In the blink of an eye, half of the rooms in the corridor had disappeared.
Pi Min reacted just as quickly, rushing towards the nearest room the instant she heard the housekeeper's words. Unfortunately, she was unlucky; just as she was about to open the door, a vase flew towards her.
She dodged the oncoming vase with a quick movement, but unfortunately, she couldn't avoid the kick from behind, and immediately stumbled and fell to the ground.
By the time she got up from the floor, all the doors were closed.
"Why are so many people attacking me? Do I look like someone who's easy to bully?"
She had guessed someone would make trouble and was prepared to deal with it, but she never dreamed it would be a series of attacks. She was all alone, and she couldn't fight against so many opponents.
[You're definitely the easiest to bully. Among a bunch of carnivores like foxes, cats, wolves, and leopards, there's a herbivorous lop-eared rabbit mixed in. Who else would they attack if not you?]
Okay...
Pi Min took a deep breath and got up from the ground, his murderous aura palpable as he pulled a machete from his game inventory, ready to break down the door and seek revenge. He wanted to take out his laser gun, but unfortunately, due to the dungeon's historical setting, high-tech equipment was disabled.
Although she didn't know who kicked her, she saw which door the guy who had just hit her with the vase had gone through.
However, to her surprise, just as she was about to reach that door, a door she was passing by suddenly opened, and a large hand reached out and pulled her inside without saying a word.
"You can stay in the same room as me."
The one who pulled her was the beautiful woman with long, straight black hair who had been staring at her.
She is not only beautiful and kind-hearted, but also has a lovely voice.
Pi Min looked shocked: "Aren't you afraid?"
"What are you afraid of?"
What if only one person can stay in a room?
The beautiful woman with long, straight black hair smiled and raised an eyebrow: "That's easy, we can kill you later."
Pi Min shook his head and turned to leave.
Unfortunately, they were stopped.
What do you want to do?
"I'm going to take revenge."
"Don't bother. The rules of this instance are similar to a tower defense game; the room is the stronghold. Unless the player is willing to open the door, with your combat strength, there is absolutely no way you can force the door open from the outside."
Pi Min was stunned, and suddenly broke out in a cold sweat: "Then I almost died just now."
The beautiful woman with long, straight black hair smiled and nodded: "That's right, if it weren't for me, you would already be dead."
No wonder Pi Min wouldn't believe her if she hadn't even tried it.
Just then, her enemy was right next door. She opened the door, went out, picked up her machete, and started hacking wildly at the door of the next room.
Unfortunately, when the machete struck, it didn't feel like chopping wood at all; instead, it felt like chopping something soft and springy.
It can't be split open, it's impossible to split open.
It's actually true.
After hacking away for ages, Pi Min couldn't even break the skin on the door. In the end, he could only slink back to the room of the beautiful woman with long, straight black hair.
"Do you believe me now?"
I believe it.
Pi Min looked dejected, as if all her energy had been drained away.
The beautiful woman with long, straight black hair smiled slightly, looking at her with a leisurely air, her eyes revealing a hint of schadenfreude.
After a bad start, Pi Min was completely dejected.
Seeing that she was standing at the door without closing it, the beautiful woman with long, straight black hair stepped forward, closed the door, and then smiled at her, saying, "If you're worried that only one person can stay in a room, we can have a fight first, and whoever wins lives."
“Am I the kind of person who repays kindness with enmity?” Pi Min rolled his eyes and without hesitation put the wood-chopping knife to his own neck. “If the bell tolls and one of us has to die, I will end it all.”
Her series of movements were as smooth and fluid as flowing water, except for the final throat-slitting gesture. She felt that she was bold and justified, but she scared the black-haired beauty opposite her to no end. The woman froze on the spot as if struck by lightning, her face showing fear, her whole body trembling, and she didn't even dare to breathe.
"Clang—clang—clang—"
The midnight bells rang.
Pi Min couldn't help but gasp, having mentally prepared herself for a heroic sacrifice. However, to her surprise, nothing happened.
The room didn't melt, the monster didn't jump out, and no unusual events occurred.
Surprisingly, nothing happened.
She let out a long sigh, slowly put down the wood-chopping knife, raised her head, and looked at the beautiful woman with long, straight black hair in front of her with a complicated expression.
"You saved me, thank you."
The beautiful woman with long, straight black hair in front of her still had a smile on her face, but her gaze became increasingly unrestrained: "A simple thank you isn't enough. How do you plan to repay this life-saving grace?"
The room was much brighter than the hallway. Before, it was hard to see clearly, but now that Pi Min could see it clearly, she was shocked to find that the face in front of her seemed somewhat familiar.
Cover up your long hair, cover up your lipstick, remove your eye makeup...
The wood-chopping knife clattered to the ground, and Pi Min couldn't help but cover her mouth.
Help! Help!
