Chapter 2: Good Wishes
"mother!"
A mournful cry.
Yue Fuli quickly stepped forward and hugged her mother's legs.
The maids and servants who came later were so frightened when they saw their mistress hanging herself that they screamed in shock.
"Oh no! The lady has hanged herself!"
A shout shattered the tranquility of the General's Mansion. Everyone in the mansion, whether masters or maids, put down their work and headed straight for the main courtyard.
"Mom, what's going on over there? Why is it so noisy?" Yue Lingxue was sitting and embroidering. When she heard the noise outside, she frowned.
"Something might have happened in the East Courtyard. Let's go and take a look." Mrs. Wu had a look of gloating on her face.
She and Su Yuanniang had never gotten along. Although they were both wives of the general's mansion, there was a difference between wives and wives. Her status and position were far inferior to Su Yuanniang's.
When they were together, they were friendly on the surface, but behind the scenes, they were constantly making small moves and complaining. Not only did they bully others openly and secretly, but they also liked to make fun of the East Courtyard.
Now that something happened in the East Courtyard, she naturally wanted to go and see Su Yuanniang make a fool of herself.
Mrs. Wu and her daughter soon arrived at the main courtyard where Su Yuanniang lived.
She was still unaware of the great events that had taken place in the General's Mansion. When she learned that Su Yuanniang had hanged herself, she assumed that she had done something wrong and ended her own life.
Mrs. Wu secretly said that it was a good thing for him to die, and then she and her daughter entered the main hall.
Looking at Su Yuanniang's body still lying on the bed, Wu said to Yue Fuli, "Ah Li, what happened to your mother? Did she do something bad? Maybe she was caught having an affair while your father was away, and she committed suicide out of shame and anger."
Yue Fuli had long known that the people in the second house were bad, but she had never thought they would be so bad. As soon as her mother died, she couldn't wait to throw dirty water on her mother.
It's so abominable!
When everyone in the room heard this, they glared at Wu, wishing they could tear her mouth apart.
However, Wu didn't think she was wrong. Instead, she argued, "Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something wrong?"
Yue Fuli looked at Wu with a cold expression, but the words she said hit her like a bolt from the blue.
"Second Aunt, you are not only wrong, but also very wrong. My mother loved my father deeply and was loyal to him. Do you know why she is lying here? It's because my father is dead."
"What? Your father is dead? The general is gone!" Wu Di was shocked. If you look closely, you can see that after the shock, a look of joy flashed across her face.
Yue Fuli saw Wu's expression clearly and said sarcastically, "My father is dead, and you are happy?"
"I didn't!" Wu denied. She had to not admit it, or else who knows what people would say to her.
However, she was genuinely happy. She felt that once Yue Zhenhai died, it would be time for their second branch to step up. After all, her eldest brother Yue Zhenhu was Yue Zhenhai's confidant.
Once Yue Zhenhai is gone, isn't it a good opportunity for the eldest brother's confidant to take over?
By then, the second branch of the family would have the final say in the entire General's Mansion. From then on, she would no longer have to rely on the first branch of the family.
Good! Really good!
Yue Fuli did not expose Wu, but continued, "Do you know how my father died?"
Without waiting for Wu's response, Yue Fuli blurted out the words "collaborating with the enemy and treason".
"What, what?" Mrs. Wu looked horrified.
Collaboration with the enemy and treason is a serious crime that will result in the confiscation of property and extermination of the entire clan!
So, was her wishful thinking in vain? Not only would the Second House not benefit, but it might also be implicated.
When she thought of this, Wu's eyes turned towards everyone in the first house with hatred.
