Chapter 8 The Despicable Boss

Li Miaomiao was looking forward to the day off on her first day at work. As usual, she refused to work overtime and went to bed without even taking off her clothes when she returned to her rental house. She also skipped dinner. Of course, she couldn't resist her hunger and cravings in the middle of the night and ordered takeout.

I weighed myself the next day and found I was 110 pounds and 155 cm tall. Oh my god, I was so worried. Although my BMI was within the normal range and no one would say I was fat, I wasn't fat, but I was definitely not thin.

I remember that when I was a child, I was pale and thin. My grandmother was always afraid that she couldn’t support me, so she fed me delicious food. I was still breastfeeding when I was seven or eight years old (she didn’t stop drinking milk powder).

Poor little girl, her grandma loved her too much. When I think back to my childhood, the words I heard most often were:

"My daughter, you need to eat more. You look so thin, you're not fat at all."

"Otherwise you wouldn't be fat, you don't eat well."

My grandma was always worried that I didn’t eat enough, and she always felt that I didn’t eat well. But in fact, when I just started elementary school, I could already eat two big bowls of rice.

It was also because my family was poor when I was a child, and it was really difficult to eat nutritious food. Although I am plump now, I am actually anemic. When I went to donate blood in college, I was persuaded not to do so because of anemia.

Seeing my body growing sideways, I was so worried that I wanted to curse, but I also regretted ordering the chicken chop rice at 12 o'clock last night. I am a big advocate of the "Clean Plate" campaign.

However, when she thought of her loving grandmother, who had lived through an era when there was nothing to eat, she was afraid that her granddaughter would not have enough to eat.

Thinking of her grandmother, Li Miaomiao cried. It was a pity that her grandmother passed away when she was in her senior year of high school, leaving her with endless self-blame and regret. No matter how busy her schoolwork was at that time, she still had too little time to accompany her grandmother.

Forget it, don’t worry about being fat or thin for now. Life and death are determined by fate, and fat or thin is determined by God. I pack up my things and go to class B, which I don’t want to go to at all.

The dusty Li Miaomiao finally arrived and punched in at the check-in point, holding a cup of soy milk and a sauce-flavored pancake in his hand.

"You just got here, and you're eating so much again? If you eat any more, you won't be able to get married." My colleague Li Yanan said this in a sarcastic tone.

Li Miaomiao bit a piece of cake and said, "You will be fat even if you don't eat, and you won't be able to get married."

"I wear a size S, and you call me fat? You must be so jealous! My boyfriend treats me very well. I've never lacked boyfriends since I was a child. How can I not be able to get married? What a joke."

Li Miaomiao looked at Li Yanan's fair face, short brown hair, delicate makeup, and fake brand-name clothes. She was indeed not fat, and her weight might be heavier than her, but she was 168cm tall.

Li Miaomiao stopped talking and started working. Li Yanan rolled her eyes at her.

Li Miaomiao thought: It’s a good thing that you and I are from the same hometown. Fellow villagers always cheat each other.

Yes, Li Yanan and Li Miaomiao are from the same place, that small county town.

When Li Miaomiao first learned that Li Yanan was a fellow villager, she was very attentive to her, thinking that it was rare for fellow villagers to meet each other and they could take care of each other.

But who knew that Li Yanan was not only a green tea but also liked to talk nonsense, saying bad things about herself in front of male colleagues and even the boss in the company every day.

Li Miaomiao endured a whole day of pain, and it was time to get off work. Li Yanan left beautifully, walked up to Li Miaomiao and twisted a few times, then went out with a male colleague from the company, chatting and laughing.

There was a problem with Li Miaomiao's work computer, which prevented her from exporting files. Everyone else was about to leave when her boss walked up to her and said in a sarcastic tone:

"Miaomiao, are you going to guard our company tonight? You're not in a hurry. You don't plan to complete today's task, right?"

"No, Brother Wu, my computer may not be compatible with the file configuration, so it is difficult for me to export." Li Miaomiao said anxiously.

"If you hadn't played Happy Match during the day, it would have been exported long ago. Just work on it. Don't leave tonight if you can't finish it." After saying that, the boss Wu Liangxin left.

After a while, the other colleagues also left one after another. Before leaving, they patted Li Miaomiao and said, "Miaomiao, if you can't finish it, come back tomorrow."

"It's okay, I'll do it for a while." Li Miaomiao wiped the sweat from her forehead, and in a blink of an eye, she was the only one left in the office.

It was two in the morning when it finally ended. Miaomiao shouted, "I'm so tired, it's finally over."

Miaomiao locked the door and left the office. There were no buses at this time, so Miaomiao took a taxi. After she had walked for a while, she received a message in the work group.

Boss: "Li Miaomiao, your document is not ready. Go back and revise it."

What? Now? Go back? Edit the documents? It's already 2:30.

And how did he know I had just left? Did he set up a surveillance camera on me?

Li Miaomiao didn't reply. Shortly after, her boss tagged her and said, "Didn't you see the message? Reply quickly."

Fuck you, you are just like your name, heartless.

Li Miaomiao replied to her boss's message and took a car back home. When she got home, she opened the door, didn't take off her clothes, and didn't take a shower. She just fell asleep on the bed.

The next day, when the alarm clock rang, it was already 7:10, and Li Miaomiao obviously didn't get enough sleep.

She looked in the mirror and saw that she had a face full of acne, serious dark circles, and some bags under her eyes. Her eyes were full of red bloodshot, even the whites of her eyes. She looked red, and her eyes were so swollen that she couldn't open them.

"Why am I so miserable? I have such a beastly boss who makes me work overtime until late at night, and now he wants me to go to work." Li Miaomiao sighed to herself. She didn't even have breakfast. She simply washed up and went to catch the bus.
