Chapter 14 Childhood memories with Lu Ze
Lu Ze added: "Princess Qi, you don't want Lingling to worry about the redness and swelling on my face, right?"
Upon hearing this, Qi Yuning took the ointment from Lichun, dipped her finger into the ointment, and applied it on Lu Ze's red and swollen cheek.
The movement was not heavy, but it was not gentle at all.
Lu Ze felt pain and just glanced at Qi Yuning without saying anything more.
When Qi Yuning saw Lu Ze's eyes, her movements became gentler.
When Qi Yu'an, who was wearing a black brocade robe, came over and saw Qi Yuning applying medicine to Lu Ze, he became even more angry and said, "He's already engaged, and you're still applying medicine to him? You are a princess, not a little maid or slave! Do you really need to do this kind of medicine application yourself?"
Lu Ze said: "Prince Qi, I am no longer engaged."
Qi Yuning said: "Brother, it's just a medicine. He is Lingling's father after all."
Qi Yu'an looked at his sister with a look of disappointment, pulled Qi Yuning aside and warned her, "I will be returning to the barracks in two days. Don't let Lu Ze, the evil face of a traitor, fool you again!"
Qi Yuning nodded and said, "Brother, don't worry, I don't have any feelings for Lu Ze anymore."
Besides, she had never thought about Lu Ze.
Actually, she and Lu Ze had known each other since childhood. The two families were neighbors. Before Qi Yu'an went to the military camp when he was young, Lu Ze often came to the palace to play.
Later, after Qi Yuan went to the military camp, Lu Ze also went to the academy. One studied military and the other studied literature, and gradually their childhood friendship faded away.
Qi Yuning and Lu Baozhu have not gotten along since they were ten years old and they often quarrel.
When she was eleven years old, Lu Baozhu cried because she was bullied by Qi Yuning. Lu Baozhu's cousin Qin Yuli asked Lu Ze to come and support her.
Although Lu Ze did not take Lu Baozhu's side, he went to the Queen Mother to complain, and she and Lu Baozhu were punished to copy the Book of Rites ten times.
Qi Yuning's hands were sore after copying the Book of Etiquette. She really couldn't bear the anger. It was just two little girls quarreling, but Lu Ze was nosy and had to go and complain.
Qi Yuning went to the academy where Lu Ze was and looked for him. She took revenge on him and felt relieved.
Lu Ze was also punished by his teacher to copy books.
Lu Ze was fourteen years old at that time. To this day, Qi Yuning still remembers Lu Ze's hoarse voice when he said to her:
"Sister Qi, you can rely on the loyal and heroic spirits of the Qi family to do whatever you want without caring about your reputation and have fun as you please, but I still have to study. No matter how you and Baozhu fight in the future, I will not interfere, and you don't have to come to me to bother me to study anymore!"
Since then, Qi Yuning has never appeared in front of Lu Ze again.
I never called him Brother Ze again, let alone spoke to him.
Even if they met at the banquet, they would pretend not to know Lu Ze.
Afterwards, the two spoke again in front of Xianglin Temple on Longhua Mountain.
His brother became a monk and broke off the engagement, so Lu Ze spoke to her first.
In the eyes of others, Lu Ze is a noble young man from an aristocratic family, a gentleman as beautiful as jade, a young and promising junior official of the Dali Temple, but in the eyes of Qi Yuning, his so-called gentleness is all fake.
Lu Ze must have forgotten all about his childhood, but Qi Yu would rather remember it forever.
Therefore, Qi Yuning didn't understand how it was possible that she and Lu Ze had a relationship.
Lu Ze was indeed good-looking, but that wasn't enough to attract her. He had a good family background and a promising future, and her Qi family's background wasn't bad either.
Qi Yu'an didn't know that his sister was thinking so much. He was relieved when he heard his sister's tone that it seemed that she really didn't have any feelings for Lu Ze.
After the Si hour, the number of guests in the palace gradually increased.
When the guests saw the appearance of the newly-appointed Princess of Xichang, they couldn't help but start a conversation with the ladies and girls they were on good terms with.
"With this appearance, is this really the daughter of Lord Lu? The famous Lord Lu actually had a daughter with Princess Qi before getting married?"
"It can't be the daughter of Lu Shizi. Don't you think about it? If it really is the daughter of Lu Shizi, how could Qi Yuning be engaged to Lu Yun?"
"Could it be that Qi Yuning was so angry about Lu Yun becoming a monk that she found a child who looks like Master Lu from somewhere to deliberately disgust the Lu family?"
"Could it be that Princess Qi couldn't bear to part with the Lu family's young master, and since Lu Yun had become a monk, he couldn't marry her, she turned her attention to Lu Ze and deliberately made Lu Ze marry her?"
Qi Yuning was behind the girls, hearing their whispers, and snorted softly, "It's a waste of your talents if you don't go to the bookstore to write books. This princess doesn't like Lu Ze. He deals with corpses all year round and smells like corpses. I think he's unlucky!"
The young ladies did not dare to act rashly in front of Qi Yuning and all lowered their heads in silence.
Qin Yuli, the granddaughter of Uncle Qin, could not tolerate anyone saying anything bad about her cousin:
"Princess Qi, my cousin deals with corpses in order to give them a fair explanation. After he entered the Dali Temple, he repeatedly solved strange cases, saved many wronged people, and avenged the dead. How can you despise my cousin?"
Qi Yuning chuckled and said, "Why can't this princess dislike Lu Ze?"
Qin Yuli's eyes widened. "My cousin is a very handsome man. Which girl in Shengjing City doesn't want to marry him and become the concubine of the Lu family's prince?"
"Oh, I don't want to."
Qi Yuning looked at the other daughters beside her and asked, "Do you want to be the consort of Prince Lu?"
The daughters of the rich families kept shaking their heads, expressing that they did not want to be the Crown Prince's consorts.
They are all noble ladies from aristocratic families, and their fathers and brothers are officials in the court. Even if they really want to become the wife of Prince Lu, they dare not admit their love in public.
Qi Yuning looked at Qin Yuli and said with a smile: "Look, I'm not the only one who dislikes your cousin!"
Qin Yuli stomped her feet in anger. She swept her sharp eyes over the rich girls who were shaking their heads, then walked away angrily with a flick of her sleeves.
Qi Yuning chuckled.
"Yu Ning."
Qi Yuning heard a clear and elegant voice and saw her childhood friend Song Heqing coming.
Song Heqing is the granddaughter of the old tutor. She is one year younger than her and just turned seventeen. Because the old tutor passed away the year before last, her family has not yet completed the mourning period, and she is still unengaged.
"He Qing." Qi Yuning smiled and said, "Have you seen Ling Ling?"
Song Heqing said: "Not yet, how come you have such a big daughter? Why didn't you tell me?"
Qi Yuning chuckled and said, "May God have mercy on me."
If Lingling hadn't appeared, she would probably have never gotten over Lu Yun's humiliation.
Now, she no longer cares whether Lu Yun is Lu Yun or not.
Qi Yuning took Song Heqing to find Lingling. Lingling was surrounded by many rich girls. She was sweet-mouthed and called all the rich girls "beautiful sister" all the time, which made them very happy.
After Lingling saw Qi Yuning, she came to Qi Yuning and hugged Qi Yuning's thighs, "Mom, there are so many beautiful sisters, and the sisters all smell so good."
Qi Yuning smiled gently, hugged Lingling and said, "Lingling, call me Auntie Song."
Lingling saw Song Heqing beside Qi Yuning, and shrank into Qi Yuning's arms in fear, whispering, "Aunt Song."
Qi Yuning tightened her arms around Lingling. Lingling didn't look like she was used to being called Aunt Song, and why did she feel like Lingling was a little scared?
Why is this?
Song Heqing smiled and said, "I didn't expect Lingling to be shy?"
Qi Yuning smiled and said, "Yes, this child might be shy when he sees the beautiful aunt."
Qi Yuning said this on the surface, but in his heart he didn't think Lingling was a shy person.
Lingling wasn't afraid at all when so many rich girls were teasing her just now, so why would she be so afraid of Song Heqing?
"His Royal Highness the Crown Prince has arrived!"
There came a loud shout from the eunuch at the door.
Qi Yuning carried Lingling to the gate of the courtyard, bowed and said, "Your Highness."
Lingling was in Qi Yuning's arms. When she saw the man in front of her, she was so scared that she shrank into Qi Yuning's arms, "Mom, I'm scared."
Lu Ze followed behind the Crown Prince and saw the little guy trembling in Qi Yuning's arms, his brows furrowed.
