"Sir, sir, it's unfair! I'm innocent!" The guards rudely grabbed a man out of a civilian house.
The man begged for mercy tremblingly, hoping that the guards would let him go.
"If you say another word, I'll kill you." The Royal Guard Armor drew his shining sword and put it against the man's head.
The man looked at the big knife above his head and immediately became incontinent. His pants were wet and there was a bad smell. The guard raised the big knife without hesitation and killed the man.
"This man refused to cooperate. In the chaos, he was killed by the sword." The guard wiped the bloody sword on the dead man with disgust.
Faced with his sudden attack, everyone was angry but dared not speak out, especially the man's family, who held their heads and withered, not daring to look directly at him.
The Imperial Guard A looked on with complacency and disdain, because the people above had said that they needed to see some blood in order to intimidate the evil spirits hiding in the dark.
Therefore, he was not afraid of these people causing trouble unless they wanted to die.
"I advise you to keep your mouths shut, or else you'll have no one to blame if something bad happens to you."
After making the threat, Guard A walked away in a swagger.
Then, the imperial guards entered another house not far away, followed by the sound of crying and shouting, "Sir, sir, my eldest son has been wronged, please spare his life, please spare his life!"
A woman crawled and grabbed a man in his twenties, crying and begging for mercy from the Royal Guard A.
Just now, the man died under the sword of the Royal Guard. The woman was afraid that he would kill her if they had a disagreement, but compared to her own life, her son's life was more precious.
The young man stood in front of the woman. Although he was afraid, he still looked at the guard firmly and said, "Sir, I will go with you. Please don't embarrass my mother or my family."
Guard A's eyes suddenly lit up, and he opened his mouth to talk back to the young man.
"Tell me, who ordered you to spread those rumors? Who ordered you to spread those rumors this morning? If you tell me, I can plead for you and spare your life."
The young man was stunned for a moment, then blurted out, "What rumors? What rumors this morning? I..."
He had only been back from his master's farm for a quarter of an hour and had just laid down to rest for a while when they grabbed him without any thought.
He had no idea what had just happened, let alone the rumors this morning.
But his mother secretly told him not to resist and to save his life.
He saw the fear and worry in his mother's eyes, and he instinctively chose to cooperate, thinking that he would be safe if he obeyed. Didn't he expect that it would be a death warrant?
Why put the blame of that old rumor on him and reveal who is behind it?
He was just a poor man, starving and with no time to notice anything unusual happening in the capital. How could he find the 'man behind the scenes'?
"Stop talking nonsense. Life or death depends on your decision. As an accomplice, your family must be aware of this. Come, arrest all his family members."
"Take him back for retrial."
As Guard A finished speaking, the other guards rushed into the hut with ferocious looks and grabbed the people inside.
From the elderly who were bedridden to the infants who were still breastfeeding, a total of twenty-three people were captured by the guards.
Seeing this, the young man knelt on the ground, begging for mercy with tears in his eyes, "Sir, everyone is responsible for their own actions. This has nothing to do with my family! As long as you release them, I will confess all the people behind this. I will confess everything, all of them."
Guard A sneered, then slapped the young man's face with disdain. "If you don't accept my toast, you'll have to drink the forfeit. Do you think you have any choice?"
"You still dare to negotiate with me? I think you've lived too long."
After saying this, Guard A kicked the man over in disgust and said arrogantly, "Take them all away."
After two consecutive incidents of killing chickens to scare monkeys, everyone learned their lesson after being caught by the Imperial Guards.
No, it’s better to say that I have accepted my fate rather than learned my lesson.
If one person must die to save the family, it is better to cooperate.
They have given up hope of survival, but it is their responsibility to keep their family alive.
On this day, the capital city was shrouded in dark clouds.
Everywhere you look you can see the sad faces of ordinary people.
and the house-to-house searches and arrests by the Guards.
Everyone in the capital was in danger. At the slightest sign of trouble, the imperial guards would come to arrest people.
I thought I would be captured by the Imperial Guards and would definitely die.
But after one night, most people returned safe and sound.
It was a false alarm.
However, after making inquiries from many sources, we learned that the family members who had not returned yet were all those who were imprisoned in the cells of the Ministry of Justice and the Dali Temple.
No, it should be said that most of the people were imprisoned in the Ministry of Justice and the Dali Temple, and only a small number were taken away by the Imperial Guards.
None of those who were taken away by the Imperial Guards returned.
"Son! We are able to return alive thanks to Lord Deng, the Minister of Justice. If he hadn't rescued us from the Imperial Guards, I'm afraid we would have ended up in the underworld."
The woman whispered sadly to the young man.
The young man nodded fearfully, "Mother, it's all my fault. I've caused the whole family to live in fear because of me."
"Mother, let's leave the capital, this place of trouble!" The young man's eyes flashed, and he pinched the note in his hand, looking forward to suggestions.
"But we make a living here. Where can we go if we leave here?" The woman was stunned for a moment and murmured.
"My son has plenty of strength. As long as he is willing to endure hardships, there is no need to worry about not being able to support the whole family." The young man was extremely determined to leave the capital.
