Chapter 88: An Uproar in the Purple Palace

There was a moment of silence in the Purple Palace, followed by Zhao Jiande's crying and begging for mercy. As the imperial guards walked away, the Purple Palace returned to peace.

The Emperor of Dai Viet broke his silence and angrily said, "Zhao Wencheng's incriminating documents have been scattered throughout the capital. The capital is now in an uproar. What good plans do you have to calm the situation?"

Su Zhe stepped out of the group, saluted the Emperor of Dai Viet, and bowed respectfully, saying, "Your Majesty, I believe the focus should be on finding out who pushed Zhao Wencheng to write the confession and who made it known to everyone."

"Understand his purpose. Is he stirring up public anger to profit from it? If so, what is he profiting from?"

Su Zhe pondered for a moment, "Could it be to overthrow my Great Yue?"

Su Zhe's words caused an uproar among the court officials.

Duke Shen refuted Su Zhe's fallacies in a deep voice, "Prime Minister Su, Zhao Wencheng's confession was written by him personally, and the contents are most likely true."

"Someone, acting on behalf of Heaven, has exposed the evil ambitions of Zhao Jiande and his son to the public. We see that this person is the one who is ridding Dai Viet of the parasites."

"Why is Prime Minister Su confusing right and wrong and blaming others? Could it be that Lord Su has a hand in Zhao Wencheng's confession of guilt?"

Su Zhe's eyes widened in shock, and cold sweat streamed down his face. "Duke Shen, stop talking nonsense."

Su Zhe's faction and Shen Guogong's faction were arguing fiercely in the Zichen Hall. The Emperor of Dai Yue angrily smashed the teacup to stop the situation from getting out of control.

"This is the Purple Palace, not the market. Can arguing solve the problem?"

The Emperor of Dai Viet looked at the blackened head with annoyance. He just wanted to get rid of the person quickly and go back to enjoy the fragrance of the beauty. So, he ordered the Crown Prince, the Junior Minister of Dali, and the Marquis of Yongyi to thoroughly investigate Zhao Wencheng's crimes. Those involved in the case shall be punished according to the law to appease the people's anger.
