Chapter 99 Friends? Male or female?

After Rosen left with the doctor and nurses, only Jiang Xinyue and the unconscious Fu Heng remained in the room.

The night outside the window grew deeper and deeper. In the quiet room, only Fu Heng's even breathing and Jiang Xinyue's occasional soft sighs could be heard.

Jiang Xinyue quietly stayed by the bedside, her thoughts drifting back to the five years she had spent with Bo Jingcheng.

Those moments that I once thought were true love all shattered into nothingness the moment my beloved appeared.

She gave her heart, only to be left with nothing, which instilled in her a deep fear of love.

Now, Fu Heng's appearance is like a ray of light shining into her dark world.

His gentleness and thoughtfulness unintentionally touched Jiang Xinyue's heartstrings. But she knew that she was about to leave this world, and this feeling was destined to be buried deep in her heart.

That night, Jiang Xinyue did not return to her apartment, but stayed by Fu Heng's bedside all night.

The next day, early morning.

After an unknown amount of time, Fu Heng's fingers twitched, and he slowly opened his eyes.

What came into view was the blinding sunlight.

He turned his head and looked at Jiang Xinyue, who was sleeping by the bedside, his eyes full of tenderness.

Seeing her asleep with her brows furrowed, it seemed that Bo Jingcheng had hurt her deeply.

Thinking of this, Fu Heng raised his hand and gently stroked her forehead, wanting to soothe the deep wounds in her heart.

Fu Heng moved very gently, afraid of waking Jiang Xinyue.

Jiang Xinyue was a light sleeper, and the slight noise made her slowly open her eyes.

Their eyes met, and Jiang Xinyue felt a little flustered. She subconsciously sat up straight and tidied her somewhat messy hair.

"You're awake. How are you feeling?" Jiang Xinyue's voice was a little hoarse from just waking up, and her eyes were full of concern.

Fu Heng's lips curled up slightly, revealing a weak yet warm smile: "I'm much better, all thanks to you watching over me. You didn't sleep all night, you must be exhausted."

Jiang Xinyue shook her head. "I'm fine. As long as you get better, that's all that matters."

She stood up, intending to pour Fu Heng a glass of water, but her legs went numb from sitting for so long that she stumbled and almost fell.

Fu Heng reacted quickly, standing up and reaching out to support her: "Be careful!"

Jiang Xinyue steadied herself, but her face instantly turned bright red from the intimate contact.

She lowered her head, not daring to look Fu Heng in the eye. "Thank you, I... I'll go get you some water."

Fu Heng watched Jiang Xinyue's flustered figure, his smile deepening.

He knew that Jiang Xinyue had suffered heartbreak, so he wasn't in a hurry and only thought that he could heal her slowly in the future.

A moment later, Jiang Xinyue returned with a glass of water and handed it to Fu Heng: "Have a drink of water first."

Fu Heng took the water glass and said, "Thank you."

He seemed to have thought of something, and looked at Jiang Xinyue with a serious expression, "Xinyue, don't bear it all alone anymore. No matter what happens, I hope that the first person you think of is me."

Jiang Xinyue felt a warmth in her heart, but the thought of her impending departure filled her with bitterness.

She turned her head away, not wanting Fu Heng to see the sadness in her eyes, and said in a lighthearted tone, "Alright, you take good care of yourself and don't worry about me."

Just then, Fu Heng's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and frowned slightly.

After hesitating for a moment, I answered the phone: "Hello, Mom, what's wrong?"

"Son, I heard from Rosen that you're sick? Is it serious? Should I come with your cousin to see you?" Mrs. Fu said anxiously on the phone.

Upon hearing this, Fu Heng quickly said, "Mom, no need, I'm much better."

He couldn't let them know that Jiang Xinyue was still with him.

Mrs. Fu was relentless on the other end of the phone: "No way, you've never been able to take care of yourself since you were little. Your cousin and I have to come and see you."

Fu Heng sighed helplessly, looked up at Jiang Xinyue, and saw her looking at him with curiosity and concern. As their eyes met, Fu Heng suddenly had an idea.

"Mom, really, you don't need to. I have a friend here to take care of me. She's very attentive and takes good care of me."

Fu Heng deliberately spoke loudly so that Jiang Xinyue could hear him. Upon hearing this, Jiang Xinyue's face flushed slightly, and she subconsciously lowered her head, fiddling with the hem of her clothes.

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Fu asked with curiosity, "Friends? Male or female?"

Fu Heng smiled and glanced at Jiang Xinyue, saying, "Mom, don't worry about me, I'm really fine. Once I'm better, I'll bring her home for you to meet."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Xinyue abruptly looked up at Fu Heng, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Mrs. Fu laughed heartily on the other end of the phone: "Good, good, good, then I'm relieved. When you're better, you must bring it back so I can see it."

After hanging up the phone, Fu Heng looked at Jiang Xinyue and gave an awkward smile: "Xinyue, I was just trying to appease my mom, don't take it seriously."

Jiang Xinyue merely frowned. Chairman Fu and Madam Fu had come to see her, but Fu Heng was unaware of this matter.

If they knew she was taking care of Fu Heng, they would probably come over immediately.

"Mr. Fu, are you hungry? I made you some porridge. Have some first, I should go back now."

Jiang Xinyue knew she couldn't linger here too long, lest she cause misunderstandings.

Upon hearing that she was in a hurry to leave, Fu Heng immediately lay back down on the bed and pretended to be dizzy, saying, "I...I feel dizzy."

Jiang Xinyue saw Fu Heng suddenly lie down, a worried expression on her face, and quickly walked to the bedside: "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell again?"

She reached out and gently touched Fu Heng's forehead; it was warm to the touch, as if his body temperature had returned to normal.

Fu Heng slightly opened his eyes and looked at Jiang Xinyue pitifully: "I think I just woke up and my head is still a little dizzy. Can you stay with me for a while longer? I'm like this because of you."

His voice carried a hint of coquetry, which made Jiang Xinyue both amused and exasperated.

Jiang Xinyue sighed helplessly: "Alright, I'll stay with you a little longer. I'll leave after you finish your porridge."

As she spoke, she turned and went to the kitchen to bring over the porridge. She sat down on the edge of the bed, preparing to feed Fu Heng the porridge.

Fu Heng was secretly delighted and obediently cooperated with Jiang Xinyue, drinking the porridge spoonful by spoonful. Looking at Jiang Xinyue's focused expression, a warm feeling welled up in Fu Heng's heart. He suddenly wished that time could stand still at this moment and never end.

Just then, the roar of a car engine suddenly came from outside the villa.

Jiang Xinyue's heart tightened, and a bad premonition welled up in her mind.

She stood up, walked to the window and looked out. She saw a luxury car parked in front of the villa. Getting out of the car was Madam Fu, along with a mother and son, who should be Fu Heng's cousin and nephew.

Jiang Xinyue's face turned deathly pale instantly. She turned to Fu Heng and said, "Mr. Fu, your mother is here!"

Fu Heng was also somewhat surprised; he hadn't expected his mother and cousin to make a surprise return.

He frowned and sat up: "Don't panic, I'll handle them. You hide in the room for a bit."

Jiang Xinyue nodded and hid in the walk-in closet of the bedroom.
