"Are you good at lying?"
Two figures of similar height walked around the gate of Chengde Hall from a side path.
Maybe it was because they were both just little balls with short legs and couldn't walk very fast.
Li Shengyi's thoughts never stopped. She glanced at Chu Huaize who was walking beside her. Her sudden question made the latter stop.
A serious expression appeared on the little face that was red from the cold wind. "There's a line in Zhuangzi: The Fisherman."
"Truth is the utmost sincerity. Without sincerity, you cannot move people. Sister, you need to be honest."
Li Shengyi knew that he would use such sentences to persuade himself.
She wrinkled her nose and smiled, "Lying is wrong, but there are two kinds of lies in the world."
"One is a white lie, and the other is a malicious one. What we have to do today is to pave the way for His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and my father."
"So, does the Twelfth Prince think that our dishonesty today is still a bad thing?"
The four-year-old twelfth prince usually only reads ancient books, and the tutor praises him as a good student.
But what he learned from Li Shengyi today seemed to have pried open some of the things he held firmly in his heart.
She twisted her face and shook her head, then heard him hesitate and say, "No...it's not a bad thing."
"Crown Prince is a good man, but the Fifth Prince is not. Sister, you said that everything we did today was for Crown Prince and Prime Minister Qin."
"If that's the case, then is the lie we're about to tell kind or malicious?"
A look of confusion appeared on the little face again.
Chu Huaize looked at Li Shengyi in front of him, his eyes unblinking, his expression firm and serious.
Li Shengyi curled his lips and took the initiative to reach out and hold his hand. "It's a goodwill gesture for us."
"Lies are inherently difficult to define, but what we are doing is not for ourselves, but for the people of Da Chu."
"Looking at what we are going to do now, do you understand?"
Chu Huaize nodded and shook his head, "I don't quite understand. I will study it carefully when I get back."
Seeing how well-behaved he was, Li Shengyi's smile deepened.
The two walked along the path to a pond.
If you look to the right along the bluestone path beside the pond, you will see the side door of Chengde Hall. If she shouts louder then...
"Lying is a lesson. If you tell it well, you can turn the situation around."
"If you don't speak well, you will ruin your life."
"The Twelfth Prince is still young and doesn't fully understand this. You will just hide aside and I will tell the lies."
"Remember, hide yourself well and don't reveal your true identity. This is also part of lying. It depends on whether the Twelfth Prince can understand the truth behind it."
Perhaps it was because the location of Chengde Hall was too remote, or perhaps it was because the Forbidden City was too cold in winter, so the palace people hid in the palace to keep warm.
Except for Li Shengyi and the other person, even the sparrows were hiding on the branches around the pond and did not appear.
Chu Huaize had never had such a novel experience.
He and Li Shengyi had only met a few times, but he experienced the excitement that he could not experience in the palace on a normal day.
He is still a child after all. Even though his little face looks calm, the look in his big eyes still betrays his inner thoughts at the moment.
"You said I was a child, but aren't you one too? You're only one year older than me."
"But you are amazing. You taught me things that even my master never taught me."
"Can I call you teacher in the future?"
Li Shengyi was amused by his sincerity.
She raised her hand, bent her fingers, and tapped his forehead lightly. Then she said with a smile, "No."
"I cannot bear the title of 'teacher'. If the Twelfth Prince has any problems in the future, please come to me. I will tell you everything I know."
Chu Huaize's face, which had been rejected the previous moment, instantly fell.
The next moment, when he heard Li Shengyi say that he could go find her, a smile appeared on his little face again.
Even when Li Shengyi drove him to a patch of grass where no one else would notice him, the silly smile on his little face still did not fade.
Li Shengyi withdrew his gaze from the grass, squinted his eyes and looked towards Chengde Hall in the opposite direction of the grass.
She found a large stone from the withered flowers and held it in her arms until she reached the pavilion in the middle of the pond.
She struggled to lift the big rock in her arms, and then her arms loosened, and the rock fell straight into the pond.
She raised her hand to pat the dust off her body. When she raised her head again, her eyes were red and there were two tears in her eye sockets.
"Come...someone! The twelfth prince has fallen into the water! Someone come and save him!"
"father--!!!"
"The twelfth prince fell into the water, help him! Help!!!"
"Wow, wow, wow, who can come and save the twelfth prince, save him!!!"
The shrill screams and cries soon alarmed the palace servants in Chengde Hall and the surrounding palaces.
When the palace maid hurried to the edge of the pond, she saw Li Shengyi holding the pavilion column with both hands, trying to climb over the pavilion fence and jump into the water to save people.
There was only one palace maid in Chengde Hall, and she hurried over after hearing the noise.
When they heard that it was the twelfth prince who fell into the water, the hearts of the palace maids who ran over were in their throats.
Especially when she saw Li Shengyi trying to jump into the water to save people, a palace maid quickly stepped forward to stop him.
"What are you doing, young lady? It's freezing cold, please come up first."
Just by looking at Li Shengyi's attire, even if some palace servants had never seen her before, they could tell from her clothes that she was either wealthy or noble.
