The little boy walking in front did not stop.
He continued to walk towards the outside of the city. Perhaps because he was too thin, his pace was very slow, so slow that Li Shengyi could easily catch up with him at a normal pace.
As Li Shengyi watched him walk with a stagger that was barely noticeable to others, his original idea of following him disappeared immediately.
She quickened her pace slightly and stretched out her arm. Just as her fingers touched his wrist, he suddenly turned his head and took a few cautious steps back.
The almond-shaped eyes, the same as hers, were now filled with ferocity.
It's like a wolf cub that has lost itself from a pack. Survival becomes a problem after leaving the pack. Even with its skin and bones, when it encounters an enemy, its wolf eyes will still reveal ferocity.
Li Shengyi took his appearance into her eyes. There was no fear on her face. Instead, her eyes curved with a smile. "Chen Wangchen, can I treat you to a meal?"
Unlike Meng Jiuan, who would stay with her just for a steamed bun.
After listening to what she said, Shen Wangchen first looked her up and down. The fierce expression on his little face faded away, and then he returned to his numb look.
No response was made.
He turned around again and continued walking towards the outside of the city, but this time he quickened his pace, showing his limp to the fullest.
Li Shengyi raised his hand and touched his nose, then immediately followed his pace.
It was not until the two of them walked out of the city gate one after the other that Shen Wangchen, who had lost all his strength, finally slowed down his pace. Two traces of light red appeared on his hungry, sallow little face.
He had no strength left, but the people behind him were still chasing him.
Li Shengyi followed behind him, and when she saw him stop again, she stopped as well.
"Are you tired? There are rocks nearby where you can sit down and take a rest."
After she finished speaking, the other party suddenly turned around, still with that ferocious expression, but the heavy breathing from his mouth pierced his current weakness.
Li Shengyi was not in a hurry for him to respond. He took out two hot meat buns he had bought on the road from his pocket and said, "Can I share one with you?"
"It's not toxic. I just want to be friends with you. I don't have any friends here. I want to play with you."
The crisp and pleasant voice fell into Shen Wangchen's ears, but the latter was unmoved and did not reach out to take the bun from her hand.
He turned around, and even though he was so hungry that he had no strength left, he continued to move forward.
Li Shengyi was not annoyed. After wrapping the buns in oil paper, he continued to follow him forward.
Until he came to a dilapidated temple, Shen Wangchen finally stopped.
Just when Li Shengyi was curious about why he came here, she heard a cat's meow that was so faint that it could not be heard unless she listened carefully.
I blinked my eyes and saw a kitten that was so thin that only skin and bones were left. One of its eyes was injured and it was limping as it walked towards this side.
The kitten was not even as tall as the threshold of the dilapidated temple, and because its front legs were injured, it could not even jump over the threshold.
It was not until a thin figure reached out and held the kitten in his arms that the faint cry from the kitten's mouth became louder.
Li Shengyi looked at the scene in front of him and took out the oil paper from his arms again. "It must be very hungry. Give it my buns."
Shen Wangchen still ignored her and just walked into the dilapidated temple with the kitten in his arms.
After finding a cushion to sit on, Li Shengyi saw him take out half a steamed bun from his arms.
The steamed buns had been left out for a long time and were a bit hard. The kitten couldn't chew them, but he still tried his best to chew the steamed bun pieces in his mouth.
This is the only hope that keeps it alive. If it can survive, no matter what, who would want to die?
In the end, even Shen Wangchen himself couldn't bear it anymore.
He found a broken bowl in the dilapidated temple, glanced at the kitten before leaving, and then his eyes fell on Li Shengyi who was clinging to the door frame.
"I promise! If I dare to abuse it or do anything to it, I will die miserably!"
When Li Sheng saw his eyes fall on her, her mind raced and she immediately raised her hand and swore a solemn oath.
When Shen Wangchen felt relieved to leave the dilapidated temple and go to the nearby stream to fetch water, she hurried into the dilapidated temple, opened the oil paper, tore the meat bun into small pieces and fed it to the kitten.
"Eat slowly, eat slowly. Eating too fast is bad for digestion."
"Do I look like someone who abuses animals? I love animals so much, okay?"
“But little thing, why are you the same as my father Shen, both of you are so miserable, who made you like this, tell your sister, and your sister will help you beat him!”
......
When Shen Wangchen came back with the stream, the kitten was feasting on the meat bun in Li Shengyi's hand.
The kitten was too small and had a small appetite, but perhaps because it had been hungry for a long time, after eating a meat bun, it gained some strength and even its meows became much louder.
It limped and lay in Li Shengyi's palm, barking non-stop as if begging for food.
Li Shengyi, dressed in gorgeous clothes, didn't mind it being dirty. His tender white hands kept stroking its bony back. "You can't eat anymore. If you eat more, you'll die of fullness. If you die of fullness, I'm afraid my father Shen won't want to care about me anymore in this life."
“And this is my father Shen’s bun. I’ll bring it to you tomorrow, okay?”
“Oh, you said that if my father Shen was the same as you, or the same as Meng Jiuan, it would be fine, easy to cheat, just a bun…” He was cheated away.
Seeing the figure at the door, Li Shengyi raised his hand and touched his nose, then laughed, "Well, I saw it was too hungry, so I gave it my share."
