Chapter 868 Standoff

Chapter 868 Standoff

"What I mean by 'crashing' is putting in a lot of effort but getting nothing in return," Huo Zhizhou said.

"You'd be better off saying that to yourself," Huo Sinian replied. "You stabbed me in the back and gave me all your assets, and you still didn't get the marriage certificate you wanted?"

Huo Zhizhou: "Who told you I wanted a marriage certificate?"

Huo Sinian: "I don't know you yet."

Huo Zhizhou: "You really don't know me."

He did want to remarry Jiang Ruan before, and was eager to establish a legal relationship with her.

But after spending time together, he felt that as long as she was happy and comfortable, it didn't matter whether they had a marriage certificate or not. After all, all the documents and agreements they had signed were enough to allow her to decide everything for him in the event of danger or death.

"You really don't plan to go back to Jingzhou?" Huo Sinian asked, changing the subject.

Huo Zhizhou: "There's nothing to reply to."

Huo Sinian: "They called me several times to ask me about it."

Huo Zhizhou remained unmoved.

Huo Sinian: "They look much more haggard."

Huo Zhizhou: "It is indeed easy to look haggard after losing power."

Huo Sinian: "Then why don't you look haggard?"

Huo Zhizhou: "I have a home."

Huo Siqing chuckled.

For a moment, he felt that the person in front of him was a stranger. After all, Huo Zhizhou in the past would never say such mushy things to him, let alone chat with him so calmly.

That's what I was thinking.

There was a knock on the door of the private room.

The restaurant manager walked in, looked at Huo Sinian, and hesitated before saying, "Mr. Huo, there is a lady named Lin Tan outside who wants to see you. She says she has something important to discuss with you."

Huo Sinian's expression remained unchanged.

Huo Zhizhou stood up, ending the gathering: "Talk to people properly, don't regret it later."

As he left.

Huo Sinian called the person in.

As Lin Tan entered the private room, Huo Zhizhou had already left the restaurant and gotten into his car. He found Qin Mo's phone number and dialed it; the other end answered almost instantly: "How did it go?"

"It's pretty much what we guessed before," Huo Zhizhou replied.

Qin Mo's hand holding the phone tightened little by little.

Therefore, Lin Tan broke up with him for his safety.

Huo Zhizhou: "When Huo Sinian answered the phone, I overheard Lin Tan's conversation with him."

Qin Mo: "What did you say?"

Huo Zhizhou: "Lin Tan said to Huo Sinian, 'Didn't you say that as long as I break up with Qin Mo, I won't hurt him anymore? So what are you doing now?'"

Qin Mo fell silent.

"She's come to the private room to see Huo Sinian now," Huo Zhizhou told him. "You can handle the rest yourselves."

Qin Mo's voice was low and deep: "Thank you."

Huo Zhizhou: "Just don't forget what you promised."

The call ended.

Qin Mo got up from his hospital bed.

The car accident was staged, and the things she said to Qin Jiangye were all pre-planned.

"You're about to have surgery," Qin Jiangye said, leaning comfortably against the doorframe. "Aren't you worried that getting out of bed like this will give you away if Lin Tan comes along and sees you?"

"She's with Huo Sinian." Qin Mo took his coat and car keys. "She won't be coming over for a while."

Qin Jiangye raised an eyebrow slightly.

It's clear that Huo Zhizhou told him about the situation there.

"Are you planning to go see her?" Qin Jiangye's gaze fell on the phone he was gripping tightly.

Qin Momo glanced sideways with his dark eyes.

Qin Jiangye still spoke in his usual irreverent tone: "Have you figured out how to tell her? How to ask her not to break up with you? How to tell her not to let other people's opinions affect your relationship?"

Qin Mo stared at him.

I don't understand the point of what he's saying.

“If that’s all there is to it, then there’s no need for you to go.” Qin Jiangye was young, but he had a very clear understanding of things.

"Why?" Qin Mo asked.

“You’ve probably said these things before,” Qin Jiangye said, “but you’ve still ended up in this situation. If you can’t make any real changes, you might as well let her have her way.”

Qin Mo ignored him and walked away.

"You should know what kind of person Huo Sinian is." Qin Jiangye subconsciously protected the artists under his management. "He could put Lin Tan under house arrest back then, and he can do it again now."

Qin Mo paused, her eyes filled with wariness as she looked at him: "Who told you that?"

He had never told Lin Tan about his past.

When he asked him, he just gave a casual answer.

"Going there rashly without thinking it through will only cause her pain and mental entanglement with Huo Sinian, and will bring no benefit whatsoever." Qin Jiangye ignored his words and only spoke what he saw, "Since you like her, you should consider all aspects."

He didn't know anything else.

Lin Tan's decision to break up with Qin Mo must have been due to immense pressure. She's a promising talent, and he didn't want her to jeopardize her future because of these romantic entanglements.

"What do you want?" Qin Mo didn't seem to hear him.

Qin Jiangye: "What?"

Qin Mo: "What do you want as payment for helping this time?"

"Hmm—" Qin Jiangye fell into thought, "If Grandpa urges me to get married, you can help me fend him off."

Qin Mo: "Okay."

After saying that, he walked out the door.

He kept thinking about what Qin Jiangye had said on the way, and it was only then that he realized that the seemingly carefree third young master of the Qin family was much more thoughtful about matters of the heart than he was.

He stepped on the gas again and headed straight for the private room in the restaurant where Lin Tan was.

At this moment, Lin Tan was still in a standoff with Huo Sinian.

Seeing her aggressive demeanor and angry eyes, Huo Sinian felt a chill run down his spine. Although his face remained gentle, his eyes looked dangerous.

"If you're unhappy about my move, you can take it out on me." Lin Tan held her phone, her usual gentle demeanor replaced by a hint of emotion. "Why did you arrange for a car to run over Qin Mo?"

"You saw what I arranged?" Huo Sinian asked.

Lin Tan: "You admitted it yourself."

Huo Sinian: "I said you were my fiancée, why didn't you take it seriously?"

Lin Tan paused.

My anger was suddenly mixed with a bit of doubt.

“If you can’t remember your identity, I’ll take you back to Jingzhou so you can solidify it.” Huo Sinian was unhappy that she was so devoted to Qin Mo. “I’ll give you your freedom when you realize it.”

Lin Tan subconsciously took a step back.

“I’ve played along with you all this time, and I’ve even promised you the freedom you wanted, but you’re still betraying me.” Huo Sinian stared at her. “In that case, I’ll just have to take you back to put an end to your hopes.”

Without a second thought, Lin Tan turned and ran.

She flung open the door and rushed outside as fast as she could.

Before he could even take a step out, he was blocked by four bodyguards standing guard outside.

"Take it back," Huo Sinian said, uttering three words.

Bodyguards: "Yes, sir."

Lin Tan, holding her phone, shouted: "Stop!"

The bodyguards paused.

They all turned to look at Huo Sinian.

"If you make a move, I'll call the police." Lin Tan said, already dialing the police number.

“Go ahead and report it,” Huo Sinian said calmly. “The bodyguards will knock you unconscious the moment you dial the number, and then an accidental fire will break out here. You can try to see who is faster.”
