Chapter 409 Falling Out
"You can leave now." Huo Zhizhou withdrew his gaze, his entire demeanor instantly turning cold.
Jiang Ruan: "And you?"
Huo Zhizhou uttered a harsh statement for the first time because Jiang Ruan had not firmly chosen him in the previous question: "My affairs are none of your business as an ex-wife."
"What time is it? Why are you still throwing a tantrum?" Jiang Ruan knew him well and naturally knew that he was just being stubborn.
Huo Zhizhou's eyes were unfamiliar: "Ms. Jiang thinks too highly of herself."
Jiang Ruan: "Are you sure you want to talk like this?"
Huo Zhizhou: "How dare you speak like that?"
Jiang Ruan said seriously, "I came to you to solve the problem together. If you continue to be sarcastic, I will leave without hesitation, even if you pushed me away for some reason."
Huo Zhizhou fell silent again.
His dark gaze fell on her, his thin lips pressed into a straight line.
"You know my temper." Jiang Ruan's words were crisp, and she exuded a more authoritative aura than usual. "If you push me away, I really will leave."
"Go if you want to leave." Huo Zhizhou's eyes were devoid of emotion. "No one is stopping you."
Jiang Ruan stood up: "Are you sure?"
Huo Zhizhou: "Confirmed."
Jiang Ruan: "No regrets?"
Huo Zhizhou's hands tightened involuntarily, but his words were a clear order to leave: "After saying all this, do you really want to remarry me?"
Jiang Ruan didn't look at him again, picked up her phone and left.
As they brushed past each other, Huo Zhizhou instinctively reached out to grab her, but withdrew his hand the moment he opened his fingers.
Crack.
The door opened smoothly.
Then it slammed shut with a loud bang.
Jiang Ruan left very decisively.
Huo Zhizhou knew she was angry, but this time he couldn't coax her.
There is no evidence to prove Huo Cheng's crime. The only way to convict him is for him to turn himself in to the police. But this is Huo Cheng, who cares most about his reputation and power. He would never confess.
If he doesn't go, he's destined to avenge Shan Mu'an's family.
If Jiang Ruanruo gets involved, she and Sui Sui will be the subject of gossip in the future.
He can handle it all by himself.
"Knock knock".
"Come in."
"Boss." Assistant Jiang stood at the door, dutifully reporting the situation after sensing the extremely oppressive atmosphere, "Miss Jiang is leaving."
Huo Zhizhou: "Mm."
Assistant Jiang asked, "Aren't you going to see me off?"
Huo Zhizhou said indifferently, "After she leaves, tighten security and don't let anyone sneak in again."
Jiang's assistant hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.
"Aren't you going yet?" Huo Zhizhou's voice was icy.
Jiang's assistant said "okay" and then closed the door and left.
Silence fell over the room once again.
A few seconds later.
Huo Zhizhou stood by the window and used his fingers to lift a gap in the curtains, just enough to see Jiang Ruan and Tang Bai walking out side by side.
Ten minutes later.
Jiang Ruan got into the car.
As Tang Bai started the car, he noticed her slightly tired expression in the rearview mirror and initiated a conversation: "Did you have a bad chat with your ex-husband?"
Jiang Ruan: "Mm."
Tang Bai: "You won't listen to me?"
Jiang Ruan: "I'm just an ex-wife, you don't have to listen to me."
"Looks like you're really angry." Tang Bai turned on the headlights and drove off. "Should I come over with Mo Mo tonight, put a sack over his head, and beat him up to help you vent your anger?"
Jiang Ruan declined: "No need."
Just as he finished speaking, Tang Bai's phone rang.
He answered the phone without hesitation when he saw that it was the captain calling.
"That anti-tracking system can't be cracked in a day or two." After struggling for two or three hours, they had a rough idea. "When are you going back to Haicheng? Introduce Si Ning to me."
"I still have some things to take care of here." Thinking about the entanglement between Jiang Ruan and Huo Zhizhou, Tang Bai decisively said, "I'll give you Si Ning's contact information later, and you can contact her yourself."
Team leader: "I have social anxiety."
Tang Bai's lips twitched: "Someone who can train our entire team on the very first day is socially awkward?"
The captain sighed, "Yes, how could a delicate and fragile girl like me dare to meet strangers?"
Tang Bai: "..."
Tang Bai felt like he was going to throw up everything he ate for lunch.
Fortunately, Mo Mo called to save him: "Go ahead and be all delicate and fragile. Mo Mo needs to talk to me. I'm hanging up now."
"Everything's fine here in Jingzhou," Jiang Ruan said after he hung up. "We can set off back to Haicheng first thing tomorrow morning."
"Isn't the matter with my ex-husband still unresolved?" Tang Bai said.
“That’s his problem,” Jiang Ruan said, and she meant it. “He’ll handle it himself.”
Tang Bai hesitated for a moment, but ultimately answered Mo Mo's call first, planning to talk about it slowly when he got back.
Half an hour later.
They met up with Mo Mo.
The car was also parked on the side of the road, and someone was contacted to drive it away.
Mo Mo greeted Jiang Ruan first, then looked at Tang Bai, who was sitting casually in the passenger seat: "Have you found your ex-husband yet?"
"Let's talk about it when we get back." Tang Bai knew that Jiang Ruan didn't really want to discuss this right now.
Mo Mo didn't ask any further questions.
They arrived at Ruanyuan after 7 p.m.
The housekeeper had already arranged for a sumptuous dinner. During the meal, the people from Ruanyuan frequently glanced at Jiang Ruan, clearly curious about whether she had found Huo Zhizhou.
However, Jiang Ruan didn't intend to say anything more and went upstairs after finishing her meal.
Seeing that her boss was clearly out of sorts, Mo Mo pulled Tang Bai to the yard after dinner and asked, "You haven't found your ex-husband?"
Tang Bai glanced upstairs and recounted what had happened.
"I don't know exactly what they talked about, but it definitely didn't go well," Tang Bai said. "The young lady also said she would return to Haicheng first thing tomorrow morning and wouldn't care about things here in Jingzhou anymore."
Mo Mo replied decisively, "Then let's go back to Haicheng."
Tang Bai: "??"
Tang Bai was somewhat surprised: "Don't you want to help them smooth things over?"
Mo Mo countered, "Adjust what?"
Tang Bai: "Just..."
He didn't know what had happened between the two of them, and he was a little unsure how to explain it.
“It’s true that my ex-husband angered the boss.” Mo Mo was particularly clear-headed. “From a relationship standpoint, my ex-husband’s self-destructive behavior has nothing to do with the boss, but the boss still went to him because of their past relationship. Since he didn’t appreciate it, our boss doesn’t need to go out of his way to get him back.”
Tang Bai pondered for a moment.
That makes sense.
Mo Mo asked, "Is the boss someone who gets angry easily?"
Tang Bai shook his head: "No."
Mo Mo then asked, "Will the boss be unreasonable?"
Tang Bai: "No."
Mo Mo's analysis was very clear: "In that case, no matter what the two talked about, it must be that the ex-husband is ungrateful. Since he is ungrateful, we have to leave with the boss."
"Didn't you speak up for him before?" Tang Bai asked, curious about his sudden change of heart.
“That was a deal I made with him,” Mo Mo said without hiding anything. “He told me what I wanted to know, and I protected the boss.”
Tang Bai asked, "What now...?"
Mo Mo's face was full of sincerity: "The boss is my sugar daddy sister, and everything is based on her."
Tang Bai paused, then smiled.
Too.
Their primary consideration is ginger.
While the young lady is still angry, we'll fly to Haicheng first thing tomorrow morning. Even if she has a little regret or worry, she won't have time to care because of work.
