Chapter 150 A Rare Moment of Peaceful Coexistence

Chapter 150 A Rare Moment of Peaceful Coexistence

Do you feel anything?

Yes, she's not made of wood; she can't guard against such sweet words.

Are you moved?

I was touched; he really cared about me.

Should we remarry?

When the question arose, Jiang Ruan hesitated for a moment, but quickly regained her composure and made a decision.

The words were heartwarming, but the words spoken before were just as sharp and cutting.

She cared too much about those who denied her worth, so much so that she could forcibly suppress the almost rekindled excitement in her heart.

"Let me know when you've thought it through." Huo Zhizhou had no idea that Jiang Ruan had considered so many things in just a few seconds. "Ideally, within a week."

"You can handle it." Jiang Ruan trusted that he wouldn't show favoritism, and she also knew that she had no chance of winning against the Huo family. "I trust you."

Huo Zhizhou parted his thin lips slightly: "Okay."

Jiang Ruan: "Mm."

The conversation between the two was as uneventful as could be, but Su Zhu felt a sense of calm before the storm, as if this calm was about to give way to their most intense confrontation.

She didn't know how long this calm would last, nor how strong the storm would be.

All she knows is that she's feeling a bit like a third wheel right now...

“Sui Sui will be leaving early on Monday with the summer camp bus. Will you be staying here for the next couple of days?” Huo Zhizhou asked, his tone questioning. “You can sleep in the master bedroom with him, and I’ll sleep in the guest room.”

Jiang Ruan raised her eyes.

Just as she was considering how to answer, Huo Zhizhou took her hand, his warm palm covering the back of her hand, and said gently with a hint of expectation, "How about it?"

Jiang Ruan agreed: "Okay."

Since he was willing to talk things out, she cooperated with him.

Wait until the time is right and he is in a very stable emotional state before discussing a peaceful divorce with him.

Huo Zhizhou is a man you can't provoke.

"Si Ning, could you see Su Zhu off after dinner?" Huo Zhizhou glanced sideways at the person sitting on the garden railing.

Si Ning gave an OK sign.

Huo Zhizhou then said to Su Zhu, "This whole thing started because of me, and it gave you a lot of fright today. I'll have someone send a new car over in a couple of days as compensation. Remember to sign for it when you receive it."

Su Zhu's mind became increasingly complicated.

It wasn't because Huo Zhizhou gave away a new car so readily, but because of his words.

He didn't mention how he would compensate Ruan Ruan for what she did; instead, he attributed everything to himself, saying that the car wasn't compensation but rather compensation for the fright she suffered.

She's seen too many rotten people in this industry, people who shirk responsibility and spout nonsense for personal gain.

all kinds.

Various kinds.

But people like Huo Zhizhou, who are impeccably good yet undeniably scummy, are extremely rare.

"I won't eat dinner." Su Zhu stood up. She needed to go back and sort out her thoughts. "I have some things to take care of at home."

Huo Zhizhou did not force him.

Jiang Ruan saw her off.

Before getting into the car, Su Zhu hugged her and whispered in her ear, "Take good care of yourself during this time. Ye Yanzhi and I will speed up our investigation into Su Anran's matter and come to find you as soon as we find out."

"Okay." Jiang Ruan didn't stand on ceremony with her.

"Call me if anything happens." Su Zhu let go of her. "Even if I'm not here, I'll send someone to find you as soon as possible."

Jiang Ruanyi agreed, "Okay."

She watched Su Zhu leave.

As the car's taillights disappeared from her sight, her hand was suddenly enveloped by a large, warm palm. Then, Huo Zhizhou's tall and slender figure stood beside her, his unfathomable eyes looking at her: "Let's go, let's go inside."

Jiang Ruan hummed in agreement.

As she walked forward, she subtly withdrew her hand from his palm.

With his hand suddenly empty, Huo Zhizhou's dark eyes deepened slightly, and his fingertips paused for a moment.

That evening, Huo Zhizhou had dinner with Jiang Ruan and Sui Sui. Watching her and Sui Sui serving each other food, for a moment he thought he had returned to the old days.

"Miss Jiang, are these your things?" the butler suddenly asked, picking up the documents.

Jiang Ruan looked in the direction of the sound, immediately stood up from her seat and walked over: "It's mine, give it to me."

After she received it, she turned the entire stack of documents face down.

Huo Zhizhou asked, "Work documents?"

Jiang Ruan: "It's a private matter."

Huo Zhizhou didn't ask any more questions. Everyone has their own secrets, and he wouldn't ask Jiang Ruan if she didn't want to talk about it.

After dinner, Jiang Ruan quickly took the documents and placed them under her pillow in the bedroom. She didn't want Huo Zhizhou to know about her mother's situation, and she didn't want him to get involved.

Once you decide to divorce, this is a purely personal matter that you have to resolve yourself.

Huo Zhizhou then instructed Sui Sui, "Don't kick off the blankets when you go to sleep later, and don't disturb your mommy's sleep."

Sui Sui looked at him suspiciously, a big question mark on her little head: "Why do I feel like you're not that kind? I've already called you Uncle Huo, and you still want me to sleep with Mommy."

"You can interpret this as me being magnanimous," Huo Zhizhou said in a low, slow voice.

Sui Sui: "No."

Huo Zhizhou: "Then you can sleep alone. Don't regret being so paranoid for the next eighteen days."

Sui Sui: "..."

Sui Sui's round eyes darted around. Letting him sleep next to his mother seemed to have no other problems besides reducing his mother's dislike for him.

After thinking it over carefully, she gave the answer: "I'll sleep next to Mommy."

Huo Zhizhou hummed in agreement.

Seeing her father's straightforward and unremarkable advice, Sui Sui's suspicions, which she had managed to suppress, resurfaced. Her intuition told her that something was amiss, but she couldn't quite figure out how he could be tricked in this matter.

He got the answer to that question late at night.

Around two or three in the morning, Huo Zhizhou came to the master bedroom and carried Sui Sui back to his room. He then very quietly lifted the covers and got into bed, pulling Jiang Ruan into his arms from behind.

The moment his warm, fragrant body pressed against his chest, his emotions calmed down.

He did nothing that night, even though his physical reaction was more intense than usual; he simply held her as they slept.

Jiang Ruan was completely unaware of this. In a daze, she felt that the person in the bed had changed to Huo Zhizhou, but she was too tired. The things that had happened during the day had left her exhausted, so she couldn't tell whether the feeling was an illusion or reality.

The next morning.

Afraid of being discovered, Huo Zhizhou got up very early. As soon as he finished dressing and opened the door, his eyes met those of Sui Sui, who was sitting at the door.

He didn't know when the little guy got up; he was still wearing his pajamas, and the small chair was most likely something he had moved from his room.

"Why are you sitting here?" Huo Zhizhou asked casually, his words of concern sounding like that of a good father.

Sui Sui stood up, her little face showing dissatisfaction: "Liar."

Huo Zhizhou: "Hmm?"

Sui Sui's childish voice spoke with utmost seriousness: "I will tell Mommy about your behavior, so that you can only ever be Uncle Huo."

"If you tell her about this, she'll be unhappy." Huo Zhizhou knew how to manipulate his son. "You want her to be unhappy?"

Sui Sui: "..."

Sui Sui felt that her father was a bit inhuman.

They even scam children.
