Chapter 837 Eating

Chapter 837 Eating

As the call ended, Lin Tan's heart began to tighten.

Her first thought was to call Yunting and the others, but then she remembered that they had already gone home, and today was New Year's Eve.

"Planning to stand there until next year?" Huo Sinian asked, his gaze fixed on her.

Lin Tan was wary of him: "What are you doing here?"

Huo Sinian: "I'll spend the New Year with you."

Lin Tan paused.

Huo Sinian looked at her and said, "Open the door."

Lin Tan didn't move.

Yun heard that they were not there.

She lives alone.

If Huo Sinian went in and did something outrageous, she wouldn't even have time to call for help.

This person's methods are terrifying.

"Do you want me to have someone tear your door down?" Huo Sinian said.

"I don't need you to accompany me." Lin Tan rejected him, not wanting to have anything to do with him. "Go back to your Jingzhou, you're not welcome here."

Huo Sinian did not respond.

I took out my phone and made a call.

After the call connected, he said directly, "Come up."

Lin Tan tried to reason with him: "If you do anything reckless, I'll call the police."

Huo Sinian remained silent.

Lin Tan was unsure of what he was going to do.

Just as she was wondering whether to call the property management to solve the problem or try another method, the elevator suddenly opened, and then several people lined up and came out, each carrying several exquisite and plentiful dishes.

That moment.

Lin Tan paused.

"You can go back whenever Teacher Lin Tan opens the door," Huo Sinian said to the group, his tone ruthless. "If she doesn't open the door all night, you'll all be standing here all night."

"But... I'm still waiting to go home for New Year's Eve dinner."

"Me too."

"Can I leave it here for now?"

Everyone chimed in with their own comments.

For a fleeting moment.

Lin Tan decided to steel herself and go find a hotel to stay in.

They can stand here if they want, since she's not the culprit anyway.

But looking at the emotions on their faces, she hesitated.

She knew Huo Sinian was capable of such things. To Huo Sinian, these delivery people were just like her; when he was happy, he would reward them with a small tip, and when he was unhappy, he would torment them in various ways.

Anyway, he's the capital.

Most people have to bow down for work and making a living.

"Hiss..." someone spoke up, their hand holding the tray trembling slightly, "Miss Lin, may we go in first? I injured my right hand yesterday and it's a bit weak."

"It's a little hot to the touch," the other said, his face slightly pale.

Lin Tan glanced at them and then focused her gaze on Huo Sinian. After a few seconds of confrontation, she unlocked the door with her fingerprint. The moment the door opened, everyone carried the dishes inside.

After the last person went in, Huo Sinian also went in.

Lin Tan didn't go in until everyone had come out.

She didn't close the door.

My finger remained on the quick alarm button.

Even after she went inside, she kept her distance from Huo Sinian to ensure that even if he tried to do something to her, she would have time to make a distress call.

"Sit down and eat," Huo Sinian said simply.

Lin Tan sat down opposite him.

The atmosphere was somewhat quiet.

"Don't worry, I'm just here for dinner today." Huo Sinian served her a bowl of rice and placed it in front of her. "I have to go to the airport in half an hour to catch a flight back to Jingzhou."

Lin Tan paused.

"If you don't eat, I don't mind feeding you myself." Huo Sinian said this casually, as if he was more eager for Lin Tan to choose not to eat than for her to eat.

Lin Tan knew that he meant what he said.

I had no choice but to pick up my chopsticks.

Even so, the phone was still placed in the closest position to her.

"Is there anything you want to tell me?" Huo Sinian said this only after she had taken a bite.

Lin Tan: "?"

Lin Tan couldn't think of anything else, and glanced at the sumptuous dinner: "I didn't ask you to come."

She doesn't say thank you.

I won't thank him.

She felt more at ease spending New Year's Eve alone.

“A few months ago you said you were filming to prepare a birthday present for me,” Huo Sinian said slowly, his eyes behind his glasses revealing no emotion. “Now my birthday has passed by several months, shouldn’t you give me an explanation?”

Lin Tan: "No."

Huo Sinian: "So direct."

Lin Tan didn't care about making him angry anymore and told him the truth: "I told you about the birthday present just to make you lower your guard against me, that's all."

"Aren't you afraid I'll get angry if you tell me now?" Huo Sinian asked.

“You’re inherently capricious and act on a whim,” Lin Tan blurted out. “Whether you’re afraid or not is irrelevant.”

Sometimes when I scold or hit him, he not only doesn't get angry, but he even laughs.

Sometimes, he would be furious at just a simple sentence.

Unless he reveals it, it's difficult for others to guess what he's thinking.

"You've made some progress," Huo Sinian said in his usual tone. "Those years weren't wasted."

Lin Tan paused, her hand holding the chopsticks still for a moment.

His eyes were filled with rejection of the past.

"Here you go." Huo Sinian handed her a rectangular box.

Lin Tan: "No need."

Huo Sinian ignored him.

Obviously, he won't take back what he's given away.

For the next ten minutes or so, an eerie silence fell between the two.

Huo Sinian, who is usually infuriating with his words, surprisingly remained silent.

Until Huo Sinian's cell phone rang.

Huo Sinian answered the call, put the speakerphone on the table, and said to Huo Cheng on the other end of the line, "What is it?"

"Why haven't you come back yet?" Huo Cheng asked in a harsh tone.

Huo Sinian: "Busy."

Huo Cheng: "What are you so busy with during the Chinese New Year?"

Huo Sinian: "Having New Year's Eve dinner with my fiancée."

Lin Tan paused.

She frowned slightly as she looked at Huo Sinian, puzzled by his behavior.

When did she become his fiancée?

"We'll talk about it later." Huo Sinian didn't shy away from the topic. "I'll be there at nine."

He hung up after saying that.

He didn't give Huo Cheng a chance to scold him at all.

Afterwards, Huo Sinian continued eating as if nothing had happened, as if those words were just a trivial interlude.

Ke Lintan minded.

She didn't want to have a special relationship with Huo Sinian.

She didn't want him to spread rumors and ruin her reputation.

"I'm not your fiancée, so please don't drag me into anything in the future." This was the first time Lin Tan had spoken so directly, without any attempt at tact.

"She didn't take off the ring at the time, which meant she accepted my proposal," Huo Sinian said.

Lin Tan wanted to retort that back then, if she displeased him, he would keep her under house arrest, preventing her from going out, working, or even touching electronic devices.

But she knew it was all meaningless, so she simply said, "I'm giving it back to you."

Huo Sinian: "That's your problem."

Lin Tan remained silent.

Since that's the case, there's no point in saying more.

Another ten minutes or so passed.

There was a knock on the door.

Secretary Ye walked a little further in, stood up straight, and said to Huo Sinian, "Boss, there's a bit of traffic now. If we don't go soon, we'll miss our boarding time."

Huo Sinian glanced at the time: "Understood."

A moment later.

He put down his cutlery, wiped his mouth, and got up to leave.

He disappeared from her house shortly afterward.
