Chapter 25 Let's see how stupid you can be without me.
Jiang Ruan was startled by his sudden action. The moment he lifted her up from the windowsill, she had the illusion that she was about to fall from the 28th floor. Before she could react, he dragged her back to the bathroom and threw her on the floor.
She steadied herself to avoid falling to the ground.
“If you really don’t want to, I won’t force you.” Gu Shixi turned off the water in the bathroom, looked at her with a complicated expression, and continued his act. “Why go to such a dangerous place?”
"How do I know you won't force me?" Jiang Ruan said, still shaken, glancing at Huo Zhizhou's face. "If you're capable of doing something like that, what's so special about forcing someone to comply?"
Gu Shixi: "..."
Gu Shixi looked at the man next to him.
Given the current situation, surely they don't expect him to continue acting?
"If I really wanted him to do something to you, would you still be here safely?" Huo Zhizhou approached her step by step, his tall figure exuding a strong sense of oppression.
Jiang Ruan was a little afraid of him and subconsciously took a step back.

Jiang Ruan was so frightened that her whole body went limp.
When she flipped down, she had a foothold on her hands and feet, and everything was under her control, which helped her overcome her fear. But at this moment, her only foothold was in Huo Zhizhou's hands. If he suddenly lost his grip and let go, it would be the end of her.
"Jiang Ruan!" Su Zhu's anxious voice suddenly rang out from outside the door.
"Su Zhu, I'm here!" Jiang Ruan exclaimed with delight.
She tried to get down from Huo Zhizhou's grasp, but she couldn't find any foothold and could only let him carry her.
A moment later, Su Zhu came in. When she saw Jiang Ruan being placed by the window in that position by Huo Zhizhou, she was terrified. Even her voice was filled with lingering fear as she spoke: "Huo Zhizhou, what are you doing? Put Ruan Ruan down quickly."
Huo Zhizhou glanced at her.
I don't quite understand why she's here.
"If you don't put her down, I'm calling the police." Su Zhu said, holding her phone.
Unfazed by the threat, Huo Zhizhou maintained his previous posture and looked at her calmly, saying, "Go ahead and try, let's see if you can make the call faster or I can throw it away faster."
Su Zhu's grip on her phone tightened suddenly, and her gaze was so fierce it seemed she wanted to stab someone.
The atmosphere remained tense.
Neither side was willing to back down.
"Alright." Gu Shixi really didn't like this atmosphere, so she gave him a way out. "Just scare him a little. If your precious son finds out how you treated his mother, he'll be angry with you."
Huo Zhizhou still didn't release him.
Gu Shixi snatched the person from his hands and pushed him towards Su Zhu before the matter was over.
"Are you alright?" Su Zhu asked, still shaken, as she carefully examined Jiang Ruanzi. "Are you hurt?"
"It's alright." Jiang Ruan's heart also calmed down a little.
Su Zhu was relieved after confirming that she was truly alright. Then, she fixed her disapproving gaze on the imposing man and uttered two blunt words: "Scumbag!"
Huo Zhizhou slightly raised his gaze, which had remained expressionless.
Although she didn't say anything, Jiang Ruan knew he was angry. She composed herself, thought about what had happened tonight, and looked at Huo Zhizhou, questioning him: "You planned everything today, didn't you?"
"So what if it is?" Huo Zhizhou showed no embarrassment at being exposed.
Jiang Ruan tightened her grip.
She wondered why Gu Shixi, who was always humble, polite, and had an excellent reputation, was different from the rumors.
"Why?" She didn't understand, and couldn't comprehend it.
"See how stupid you can be without me." Huo Zhizhou spoke without reservation, his eyes looking at him as if he were an ant. "As it turns out, you're incredibly stupid."
"Whether I'm incredibly stupid or you're just making trouble for no reason, you know the answer in your heart." Jiang Ruan met his eyes and used such clear words to draw a line between them for the first time. "If you hadn't interfered in my life, none of this would have happened."
The air pressure around Huo Zhizhou gradually decreased, and his face seemed to be covered with a layer of frost.
Jiang Ruan took her phone from Gu Shixi and threw Huo Zhizhou her last words: "If you're really a man, then live your life with Su Anran and don't bother me."
After saying that, he took Su Zhu's hand and left without lingering for a moment.
With only Huo Zhizhou and Gu Shixi left in the bathroom, the atmosphere suddenly became oppressive, no different from being in the eye of a storm.
"Your little wife doesn't seem to appreciate your efforts," Gu Shixi coughed lightly.
Huo Zhizhou glanced at him.
Gu Shixi immediately realized his mistake: "Alright, I won't say anything more, okay?"
"How's the investigation going with the surveillance footage I sent you last time?" Huo Zhizhou asked about the important matter after Jiang Ruan left.
“It’s strange, that man looks somewhat familiar, but I just can’t find any information about him.” Gu Shixi said confidently, “Normally, I would have investigated most people thoroughly by now, but I have no clue what his name is, where he lives, or most importantly, you, my mother-in-law.”
At this point, Gu Shixi stared at him with a serious expression.
Huo Zhizhou simply said one word: "Speak."
“When I traced her line of inquiry, it ended at her marriage to your father-in-law. I couldn’t find anything further back. Now I’m starting to suspect that her identity is quite unusual.”
Huo Zhizhou's eyes deepened slightly.
He never investigated Jiang Ruan's mother in detail.
He and Jiang Ruan had just gotten married when she was in a car accident and fell into a coma. He only knew that her name was Jiang An, and that she shared the same surname as Jiang Ruan's father. She didn't have much of a presence in the Jiang family.
“Continue the investigation from Jiang Ruan’s mother’s side.” Huo Zhizhou’s eyes were deep. “We have to find out the identities of either her or that man.”

Jiang Ruan was unaware that Huo Zhizhou had been keeping these things from her. She breathed a sigh of relief after leaving the hotel and getting into the car with Su Zhu: "Luckily you came."
"I almost didn't make it." Su Zhu muttered as she drove, "I never expected Huo Zhizhou to resort to such shameless tactics. If I hadn't noticed something amiss, I wouldn't have even known you sent me a message!"
Jiang Ruan glanced at her sideways: "What do you mean?"
Su Zhu recounted her visit to her father, including how he summoned her over but didn't discuss anything serious, then snatched her phone and deleted messages.
"If Huo Zhizhou hadn't ordered this to be done, I would have eaten the steering wheel." Su Zhu was almost 100% certain. "Luckily, I was careful and checked it on my tablet when I got home after you didn't reply to my message."
She didn't realize it until she looked. When she compared her phone and tablet, she noticed that two messages Jiang Ruan had sent her were clearly missing. Combined with her father's sneaky behavior of snatching her phone, she almost instantly guessed that something was fishy.
Jiang Ruan paused for a moment.
She realized that this might be a warning from Huo Zhizhou.
"By the way, before I came here, a diamond collector messaged me saying he wanted to buy your diamond, but because this is going against Huo Zhizhou, there's a risk," Su Zhu said naturally. "So the price is a bit low; I can only offer ten million."
