Chapter 707 Acting
Huo Zhizhou paused, then hesitated for a moment before squeezing his hand.
I don't understand why this once arrogant little guy has changed so much today.
"I've already called you Dad, why aren't you responding?" Sui Sui's voice was childish, her round eyes blinking, revealing emotions that Huo Zhizhou couldn't fathom.
He deliberately argued with him: "Who said I have to respond just because you call me Dad?"
Sui Sui looked him in the eye and asked, "Don't you want to be my dad?"
"It depends on your performance." Huo Zhizhou withdrew his hand, his tone no different from usual. "If you shout a few more times, maybe I'll decide to take it."
Sui Sui's eyes suddenly dimmed.
He lowered his eyes, looking somewhat dejected.
Just as Huo Zhizhou was about to continue teasing him, Sui Sui spoke up, her voice muffled: "Do you have another child outside?"
Huo Zhizhou: "?"
Huo Zhizhou: "Where would I get other kids from?"
"Then why don't you want to be my dad?" Sui Sui asked back, her eyes filled with a hint of grievance. "You used to answer when I called you."
Huo Zhizhou hadn't expected this kid to become so sensitive. He pinched his nose and said, "You're allowed to joke with me, but I'm not allowed to joke with you?"
"Is it really a joke?" Sui Sui looked at him, her eyes slightly reddening. "You never used to make jokes like this. You know I would overthink it and take it seriously."
Huo Zhizhou was taken aback when he saw the man's eyes, which were as red as a little rabbit's.
What's wrong?
"Who told you anything?" Huo Zhizhou asked, half-squatting in front of him with a serious expression and a gentle tone, her eyes full of concern.
He knows Sui Sui's personality.
He wouldn't care about such trivial matters, nor would he overthink them.
But this is clearly not the case now.
"Mommy told me that you refused my request to study here with you," Sui Sui said. "You said your reason for refusing was that you were too busy and would be traveling around, making it inconvenient for you to take me with you."
Huo Zhizhou paused.
I didn't expect him to overthink it.
“If it weren’t for having other children, if it weren’t for raising other children, why would you use such a lame excuse to refuse?” Sui Sui continued, her expression genuinely sad.
But Huo Zhizhou didn't know he was acting.
He thought he was genuinely upset about it.
From his perspective, Sui Sui didn't know that he was in a bad state, nor did she know that Lin Bei had told Sui Sui everything. He thought he was really upset about it.
"You're my only little friend," Huo Zhizhou said in a low, gentle voice. "Besides your mommy, I won't have any children with anyone else."
Sui Sui remained silent, her head bowed.
Huo Zhizhou put his hand on his shoulder: "If I'm lying to you, may I be struck by lightning."
"Then why don't you take me with you?" Sui Sui asked. "Do you think that if I'm with Mommy, I'm not your child anymore?"
Huo Zhizhou: "Of course not, Dad is just quite busy."
Sui Sui: "You're lying!"
Huo Zhizhou: "I'd be a dog if I lied to you."
If Sui Sui was just acting before, he is genuinely a little sad now.
He thought his father was a bit stupid.
So stupid it's heartbreaking.
They'd rather be a dog than lie; they're incredibly stupid.
“You swear,” Sui Sui suddenly said.
Huo Zhizhou followed along, unaware that there was a hidden meaning in his words: "I swear."
Sui Sui looked at him, her words childish yet crisp: "If you lie to me, I'll get hit by a car and die as soon as I step outside."
Huo Zhizhou's gaze paused.
The words that were about to be spoken were swallowed back.
He could swear on anything he owned, but he would never joke about Sui Sui and Ruan Ruan's affairs.
Even if it doesn't come true, even if it's just feudal superstition.

“Why don’t you say anything?” Sui Sui looked at him.
"You can't say things like that carelessly," Huo Zhizhou corrected. "You have to learn to avoid prophetic statements, you know?"
Sui Sui stubbornly replied, "You haven't answered me yet."
Huo Zhizhou: "I will not answer you. Not only now, but I will also not answer you if you bring up health again in the future."
“You have another child outside,” Sui Sui said. “You never used to avoid the topic. You even told me and Mommy that if someone suddenly doesn’t answer questions directly, it means they have something to hide.”

He said, "If I have other children outside, your mother and I can never get back together, okay?"
“You two could never be together in the first place,” Sui Sui said deliberately.
Huo Zhizhou pinched his cheek: "Can't you wish me well for once?"
Sui Sui: "You're not answering the question directly."
"I'll be really busy next year." Huo Zhizhou was quite good at chatting, able to subtly guide people to follow his rhythm. "If you want to study here, how about I take care of the paperwork for you once I'm done with this?"

Huo Zhizhou patiently talked to him: "Then Dad will ask the media to release a message so that everyone knows you are my only child."

Sui Sui was still angry: "What?"
