Chapter 19 Give in to me
Jiang Ruan arrived at the hospital as quickly as possible, her hands were cold when she answered the phone.
She rushed into the doctor's office and asked anxiously, "Dr. Zhou, how is my mother?"
"The situation has stabilized for now, but surgery is needed." Dr. Zhou showed her the situation and explained it to her in detail. "This surgery is very risky. If it's successful, your mother should wake up within one or two months. If it fails, she may have to rely on a ventilator for the rest of her life."
Jiang Ruan's hands tightened instinctively, and her heart leaped into her throat.
Dr. Zhou continued, "But if we don't do it, she won't make it through the month."
"I'll do it." Jiang Ruan decided without hesitation. "Please do everything you can to save her, no amount of money is too much."
Dr. Zhou hesitated.
He was aware of the strained relationship between Jiang Ruan and Huo Zhizhou, and he had heard some rumors that this fee was an astronomical sum for her.
"Then try to prepare the money in the next few days, at least 500,000 yuan." Seeing the worry in her eyes, Dr. Zhou still told her the truth, "If the situation is not optimistic, the cost may increase."
Jiang Ruan was taken aback.
Five hundred thousand?
"Okay." She agreed under immense pressure, knowing that her mother had to be saved no matter what. "I will raise the money as soon as possible. I'm entrusting my mother's surgery to you."
"Then please sign this first." Dr. Zhou handed her the surgical consent form and explained the situation, "In case of any emergency, I can perform the surgery immediately."
Jiang Ruan signed it as soon as she got it.
But when she picked up the pen, her hand trembled uncontrollably.
Dr. Zhou noticed this detail and, after some consideration, gave her a suggestion: "If you really can't raise the money, you can talk to Mr. Huo. You are still legally married, so he shouldn't ignore you."
Jiang Ruan didn't speak.
He even prevented her from getting a job, so how could he possibly pay for it?
He wished she would be unhappy after leaving him.
After signing the papers, she planned to go see her mother. Just as she turned around, she saw Huo Zhizhou standing outside the door. He was tall and straight, exuding nobility. When he walked in, his eyes were indifferent and aloof. He glanced at her and then went to the doctor to ask about her condition.
After the doctor finished speaking, he asked how much it would cost.
The doctor informed the patient truthfully.
Upon learning of the 500,000, he looked at Jiang Ruan and said in an unquestionable command, "Come with me."
Jiang Ruan stood there silently without moving.
Huo Zhizhou reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her to the next room.
"Do you regret it?" He sat in the chair looking at her, exuding an air of nobility.
Jiang Ruan knew he was referring to what he had asked her a few days ago. She pursed her lips, stubborn as a mule: "No regrets."
Huo Zhizhou felt that she deserved to be taught a lesson, so he reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his arms. The moment she sat on his lap, Jiang Ruan reflexively stood up, but was forcibly pressed back down and trapped in his arms before she could move.
"You should know I like obedient girls." Huo Zhizhou held her hand and stroked her waist, loving the delicate and smooth feel of it.
Jiang Ruan struggled to get up, but he held her tightly in his arms and she couldn't move.
"Give in your apology and beg me properly, and I might consider letting bygones be bygones." Huo Zhizhou ran his thumb across her lips, sending shivers down her spine. "I'll also follow up on your mother's treatment and expenses."
