Chapter 47 Go Apologize to Su Anran
With this in mind, Jiang Ruan felt better than ever before.
She knew the pressure was immense and she was exhausted, but there was hope in the future.
"I'll keep a close eye on things at the hospital." Dr. Zhou finally suppressed all his emotions and gave her the greatest possible reassurance from a doctor's perspective, "You just focus on your work."
"Thank you in advance," Jiang Ruan said.
Seeing that there was nothing else to do, she stood up to go to the ward. Just as her hand touched the doorknob, Dr. Zhou looked up and called out to her, "Jiang Ruan."
Jiang Ruan turned her head and asked, "Hmm?"
Her features were exquisite, her eyes clear and resolute. Her expression had lost its former gentleness and obedience, replaced by strength and perseverance, as if she had become a completely different person in just a few days.
Seeing Dr. Zhou looking at her, she released her grip on the doorknob: "What's wrong?"
"It's alright." Dr. Zhou thought she was fine as she was. "I just wanted to tell you that if you're too busy to come in the future, just let me know so I can visit your mother more often."
"Okay, thank you!" Jiang Ruan said sincerely.
She smiled back, opened the door, and walked out, her steps quick and steady, just like her current state of mind.
Back in the ward, she sat by the bedside, held her mother's hand against her face, and looked at the person on the bed with nothing but tenderness and deep dependence in her eyes.
She talked a lot with Jiang An.
She told me about her experiences during this period, her future plans, and that she missed her.
Huo Zhizhou, who was staring at the computer, heard every word she said. His chill grew stronger after hearing her words, and his hand, which was placed to the side, tightened slightly.
In all of Jiang Ruan's plans for the future, there were Sui Sui and Jiang An, but not him.
Gu Shixi noticed his mood and closed the laptop: "Your mother-in-law's surgery was successful, aren't you going down to see her?"
"Where is Jiang Chenren?" Huo Zhizhou's eyes were dark and unfathomable.
"Washing glasses at the bar." Gu Shixi didn't know why he asked.
"In a couple of days, casually reveal Jiang Ruan's address to him." Huo Zhizhou picked up the phone next to him, his well-defined fingers exerting a bit more force. "Don't mention the house number or floor, just the neighborhood."
Gu Shixi: "?"
Gu Shixi was completely confused: "Why are you saying this?"
“The surgery was successful, and as Jiang An’s spouse, he has the right to know.” Huo Zhizhou’s calm tone revealed no emotion. “Jiang Ruan should tell him.”
"Is that really true?" Gu Shixi asked.
Huo Zhizhou didn't say a word, stood up and walked out.
Gu Shixi felt there was something wrong with this matter, but after thinking about it carefully, he felt there was nothing wrong with it.
Jiang Ruan was unaware of all this. She stayed with her mother in the ward for a long time until it gradually got dark before she said goodbye to the doctors and left to go to Huo Zhizhou's house.
The surgery wasn't over yet, but Sui Sui had already finished school.
Worried that she might need her help during the surgery, she communicated with the housekeeper and teacher in advance, asking Sui Sui to go back to Huo Zhizhou's place first, and then pick him up after she finished her work at the hospital.
Now that time has passed, it's almost time.
She called Sui Sui when she got there, and Sui Sui ran out with her little schoolbag on her back.
Just as she was about to leave with him, a bright car headlight shone from afar, and then a black Bentley pulled up in front of her and stopped. Before she could leave, the window rolled down, revealing Huo Zhizhou's extremely familiar face.
He was wearing a custom-made suit, and his long, unfathomable eyes looked at her with immense pressure.
Jiang Ruan glanced at him and left with Sui Sui without saying goodbye.
"Wait a minute," Huo Zhizhou called out to her.
Jiang Ruan paused in her steps.
Before she could speak, the car door opened, and Huo Zhizhou stepped out of the car, standing in front of her with an air of maturity and composure.
"What's up?" Jiang Ruan asked him casually, her dislike for him perfectly conveyed.
Huo Zhizhou glanced at her hand holding Sui Sui's hand and said in a calm voice, "Come here for a moment, I have something to tell you."
Jiang Ruan didn't move.
She goes over when you call her.
On what grounds?
"I have no objection if you want Sui Sui to hear this." Huo Zhizhou walked up to her, and whispered in her ear as they brushed past each other.
Jiang Ruan's red lips were pressed tightly together.
Sui Sui tilted her little head and asked, "What's wrong, Mommy?"
"It's okay, you stay here for a while." Jiang Ruan rubbed his head with a reassuring smile. "I'm going to talk to your dad about something, and then we'll go home."
Sui Sui nodded: "Okay."
Jiang Ruan gently stroked his nose with her soft index finger before walking towards Huo Zhizhou.
Watching their figures walk further and further away, Sui Sui tapped a few times on her smartwatch and sent a message.
Jiang Ruan was unaware of this matter. After walking a bit further away, she looked at Huo Zhizhou with a distant and indifferent expression, as if he were a stranger: "Speak, what is it?"
"Did you inflict the injury on An Ran's forehead?" Huo Zhizhou's dark eyes stared at her.
Jiang Ruan paused for a moment.
I wanted to argue back and have another debate with him.
Remembering his protective nature, she simply didn't bother to say anything more and directly admitted, "Yes, are we going to avenge her? There are stones over there; picking them up and hitting me on the forehead should have about the same effect."
Huo Zhizhou stared at her.
In just a few days, your temper has flared up so quickly.
"I'll apologize to her tomorrow," he said.
"It's not my fault, why should I apologize?" Jiang Ruan retorted, not at all surprised by his words.
"I'll give you one night to think it over." Huo Zhizhou explained his purpose, showing none of his former gentleness and patience towards her. "If you haven't gone to the Waterside Villa to apologize to her in person by noon tomorrow, I will tell your father your address."
Jiang Ruan's pupils contracted.
Huo Zhizhou just looked at her and said, "You know your dad's personality better than I do. I heard he doesn't have a place to live right now. What do you think he would do if he knew you were renting a place outside?"
"You're crazy." Jiang Ruan hadn't expected him to go this far. "Don't forget that Sui Sui still lives with me!"
"I can take him back to live here." Huo Zhizhou's words blocked her way.
Jiang Ruan's hands, hanging limply at her sides, clenched tightly.
The fire in my heart burned ever brighter.
Her current life cannot withstand even the slightest unnecessary disputes or disturbances. If her father were to find out where she lives, her future life would certainly be filled with turmoil, and at that point, it would be difficult for her to find a stable job and earn money.
Most importantly, Jiang Chenren is her father. If she calls the police because he comes looking for her and pesters her, the police won't bother with such trivial family matters.
"You have plenty of time tonight, go back and think about it slowly." After saying this, Huo Zhizhou turned and left.
As he brushed past her, he suddenly stopped, glanced at her slightly disheveled expression, and continued, "By the way, I heard you made it to the final round of Yuan Yi Games."
