Chapter 471 Labeling Yourself
Huo Sinian's eyes behind his glasses deepened.
He stared at Qin Mo, trying to discern something about his character from his face.
"Isn't she here?" Qin Mo's thin lips parted slightly, his tone and expression unchanged from before.
Huo Sinian was about to make an excuse that she wasn't there, but then he thought about all the coincidences that had happened before, and after thinking it over, he finally said, "She is here, but she's resting now. I'll go and call her for you."
Qin Mo: "This is troublesome."
Huo Sinian pushed up his glasses and stood up. Before going upstairs, his gaze lingered on him for a few seconds. Finding nothing amiss, he strolled upstairs.
He opened the door where Lin Tan was.
She's still asleep because of all the previous commotion.
Huo Sinian walked to the bedside and immediately noticed the ambiguous marks on her neck and collarbone caused by the intense activity. Thinking of Qin Mo, who was indifferent and expressionless, a trace of emotion flashed in Huo Sinian's eyes.
He sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to pinch Lin Tan's cheek: "It's time to get up."
Lin Tan was awakened by his movements.
Before he could even open his eyes and his head was fully clear, Huo Sinian's next words came crashing down: "Qin Mo is waiting for you downstairs."
Lin Tan paused.
Qin Mo?
Why is he here?
"What does he want with you?" Huo Sinian looked at her face the whole time, not missing a single emotion from her.
Lin Tan shook her head blankly: "I don't know."
Huo Sinian said unhurriedly, "You really don't know?"
Lin Tan: "Mm."
She had just woken up and was still in a half-awake, half-dreaming state, so she had a blank expression the whole time. Even when she was surprised to learn that Qin Mo was coming, she only showed confusion.
"Did he come alone or with other people?" Lin Tan asked.
Huo Sinian: "Alone."
Lin Tan pretended to think.
Huo Sinian didn't think much of it and pulled her into his arms around the waist: "Let's go, let's get down."
Lin Tan blurted out instinctively, "Clothes!"
"Just put on a shawl." Huo Sinian handed it to her as he spoke, deliberately revealing the ambiguous marks on her collarbone and neck. "You two probably won't be able to talk for too long. After you're done, you can go back to sleep."
Lin Tan wanted to persist a little longer, but then she remembered the phone call Jiang Ruan had made to her, and in the end she said nothing.
That's for the best. Seeing her like this, Qin Mo should know about her relationship with Huo Sinian. He can let go of that obsession and live a good life instead of wasting time on her.
A few minutes later.
Huo Sinian carried Lin Tan downstairs.
The moment they appeared, Qin Mo looked over. When he saw the intimate scene between the two, his face showed no emotion, as if it were just an ordinary scene.
"This is President Qin who is looking for you." Huo Sinian held her and sat her down in front of Qin Mo. Lin Tan tried to get off him, but Huo Sinian did it on purpose and she could not break free from his grip.
Qin Mo's gaze fell on her: "Sorry to disturb your rest."
"It's nothing." Lin Tan spoke to him as if they were strangers. "I wonder what you wanted to see me about."
Qin Mo's gaze fell on Huo Sinian.
Lin Tan: "?"
Huo Sinian slightly raised his eyes.
"Mr. Huo, would you mind moving aside so I can speak with Ms. Lin Tan alone for a while?" Qin Mo said directly, his expression indifferent, as if he and Lin Tan were really just discussing business.
Huo Sinian played with Lin Tan's fingers and said slowly, "It's not very convenient."
"In that case, I'm sorry to have bothered you." Qin Mo stood up as he spoke, maintaining a distant and indifferent demeanor throughout.
“However, since it is President Qin’s request, we can make an exception.” As Huo Sinian spoke, he took off his coat and draped it over Lin Tan, his warm fingertips deliberately tracing over the places where she had left intimate marks.
Lin Tan's skin shuddered.
"I'm going upstairs." Huo Sinian helped her adjust her coat. "Call me if you need anything."
Lin Tan nodded slightly: "Okay."
Huo Sinian rubbed her head and got up to leave.
Soon, only Lin Tan and Qin Mo remained, staring at each other in bewilderment.
For a full minute, neither of them spoke. Lin Tan stared at him as if he were a stranger, while Qin Mo simply looked at her without saying a word.
It was as if a barrier surrounded the two of them.
After what seemed like a few minutes, Lin Tan broke the silence: "Why are you here?"
"Jiang Ruan relayed what you wanted to say to me." As Qin Mo said this, his gaze swept over the marks that were not covered by Huo Sinian's suit jacket.
Lin Tan: "Mm."
Qin Mo asked, "Do you like him?"
Lin Tan paused.
I subconsciously looked up.
"Huo Sinian," Qin Mo asked again.
If he likes it, he won't care anymore.
If he didn't like it, he would tell her his decision.
“This is my private matter.” Lin Tan did not answer directly, her attitude polite but distant. “If there is nothing else, please leave.”
"You don't like him," Qin Mo said firmly.
Lin Tan retorted, "You're not me, how would you know if I like you or not?"
“The Lin Tan I know won’t be wishy-washy in matters of the heart.” Qin Mo met her gaze. “If you liked him, you would have admitted it openly just now, instead of giving an ambiguous answer.”
Lin Tan wanted to say something to dispel his suspicions.
Qin Mo spoke first: "I'm sorry."
Lin Tan looked puzzled.
"I arranged for your sister to go abroad for an exchange program without your consent," Qin Mo explained. "I have people abroad, so you don't need to worry about Huo Sinian using her to threaten you."
I didn't come yesterday because I had to deal with this matter first.
If Lin Tan gets angry because of this and doesn't want him to interfere in her affairs without her consent, he can tell her that he can withdraw his decision.
He just wanted to take one step forward to show her his attitude; as for the final choice, that was up to her.
"You can tell me any concerns you have," Qin Mo said again. "I want you to make a choice again after you've eliminated all your worries. If you still don't choose me then, I will let go."
"Why?" Lin Tan didn't understand.
In terms of looks, she wasn't the most beautiful.
In terms of talent, she can only be considered average.
With so many people coming and going around him, why is he still so good to her?
"I want you to be free," Qin Mo said. "I want you to be yourself."
“You know that’s not what I’m asking.” Lin Tan has grown up now and is much more rational than she was in her youth. “You should already know what kind of relationship I have with Huo Sinian.”
Qin Mo looked at the mark on her neck: "Yes."
Lin Tan: "Then why do you..."
