Chapter 857 Learning the Truth
Xie Chang'an hesitated for a moment, but did not stop him.
If he didn't know about this, Junyi could contact Lin Tan if she wanted, even if Lin Tan really had other motives, as long as she didn't harm Junyi.
But now the facts are right in front of him, and he can't turn a blind eye.
"After I take Lin Tan away, remember to have a heart-to-heart talk with Mom," Xie Yi said.
Xie Chang'an: "Do I need you to remind me?"
Xie Yi lifted his foot and left.
As they reached the door, she seemed to remember something and turned back, saying, "It's Mom's birthday this year. I hope you'll be more considerate and not act like a despicable and shameless person."
Xie Chang'an: "When did I..."
Xie Yi left before he could finish speaking.
It was clear they didn't want to hear his excuses.
When he arrived, Lin Tan was strolling around with Madam Jun.
Looking at the elegant, poised, intelligent, and gentle woman beside her, Lin Tan's affection for her grew stronger with each encounter. Her fondness for her increased uncontrollably with every interaction.
"I'll rent out a whole theater to support you after your movie is released," Junyi said with a big smile.
Lin Tan: "I'll watch it with you then."
Junyi: "Then I'd like to take a photo with you and get your autograph."
Lin Tan smiled gently: "As many as you want."
“I’ve watched all the TV dramas you’ve acted in recently.” Junyi really cares about her. “You’re a natural actress. You’re so convincing.”
"Then I'll try my best to act in more movies so you can enjoy them," Lin Tan said with a smile.
Junyi: "Sigh."
Lin Tan: "What's wrong?"
Junyi held her hand: "I want you to act in more movies, but I don't want you to be so tired."
She's not someone who really enjoys watching TV dramas.
But Lin Tan's performance was so vivid and engaging that I couldn't help but feel happy every time I saw her.
Whether it's a supporting character or a villain.
She felt that Lin Tan was the main character in the story.
"Mom." Xie Yi suddenly spoke, and then his figure appeared behind them.
Junyi turned around: "Aren't you talking to your father?"
Xie Yi: "We're done talking."
Junyi asked, "Then come over here?"
Xie Yi turned his gaze to Lin Tan and said with a hint of reminder, "I saw you were chatting with Lin Tan, so I came to remind you that Lin Tan has something to do this afternoon."
After saying that, he looked at Lin Tan and said, "Right?"
Junyi also looked over.
Lin Tan understood his implied meaning and didn't linger: "I have some things to attend to at the company this afternoon."
“Nonsense. I specifically called Jiang Ye before you came and told him not to let anyone arrange anything for you today,” Junyi exposed. Then she looked at Xie Yi and said, “Don’t think I can’t see through your little scheme. If you have something to do, go do it and don’t bother us.”
"Mom," Xie Yi said in a low voice.
Junyi was too lazy to say anything more to him, and took Lin Tan's hand and left.
Xie Yi stopped them, staring directly at Lin Tan: "Will you tell me, or will I?"
Lin Tan paused.
I was stung by the coldness emanating from him.
"Don't put on airs in front of me." Junyi shielded Lin Tan behind her, her gaze carrying a hint of elder's authority. "Lin Tan is my guest. When did your father and I ever teach you to behave like this?"
Xie Yi pursed his lips.
After a moment of silence, he decided to tell the truth: "If you knew what kind of person she was, you wouldn't think of her as your guest."
“I know her very well,” Junyi said. “I’ve had far more contact with her than you have with her.”
Xie Yi said, word by word, "Then do you know that her first meeting with you was intentional?"
The words fell.
Lin Tan's hands, hanging at her sides, tightened slightly.
Junyi was stunned for two seconds.
"You think it's a coincidence, a destiny bestowed upon you by heaven," Xie Yi said, his gaze towards Lin Tan filled with obvious disdain. "In reality, it was a deliberate scheme by someone."
"Stop talking nonsense." Junyi subconsciously sided with Lin Tan.
"Ask her if she's talking nonsense," Xie Yi said. "Let her tell you herself."
Junyi looked over.
In her eyes, Lin Tan felt nothing but guilt.
The thought that Madam Jun had been so good to her, yet she approached her with ulterior motives, made her somewhat afraid to face her.
Even though Qin Mo didn't tell her who she was going to see, going to that banquet and accompanying Qin Jiangye to visit everyone was a purposeful act.
“Going to see you was indeed not an accident,” Lin Tan replied.
Junyi paused.
A few seconds passed.
She then asked, "So, what was your reason for contacting me in the first place?"
"There's no reason," Lin Tan said without hiding anything. "A friend of mine said he wanted to introduce me to someone, so I went. When I got there, I found out that the person was you and Uncle Xie."
“That person is…” Junyi asked.
Lin Tan hesitated.
She and Qin Mo have broken off their relationship.
Bringing him into this now would ruin his image in Lady Jun's eyes.
"Can I not answer?" Lin Tan said. "I assure you that person has no ill intentions towards you."
Upon hearing her say this, Junyi had already guessed that the person was Qin Mo.
Xie Yi, standing nearby, seemed somewhat puzzled by this.
I don't understand why she didn't mention Qin Mo.
If she were to speak up, her mother might even say a few words in her defense.
"Okay, I got it." Junyi's attitude remained unchanged, but she said, "Since you lied to me, I'm punishing you by making you stay here for dinner tonight. Go pick out some seafood you like and have the chef cook it for you."
Lin Tan paused for a moment.
Xie Yi was stunned.
Neither of them expected her to react this way.
"Mom—" Xie Yi didn't understand.
"Don't meddle in my business with Lin Tan from now on," Junyi said. "Either don't come back, or don't say things that upset me."
Xie Yi shifted his gaze to Lin Tan.
I don't understand how she has such great charm.
Although his mother was gentle, he had never seen anyone other than Chi Qian who was protected by her like this over the years. Even Chi Jing, whom she liked, was only treated as an ordinary junior.
Corinthian -
Is Mom treating her a little too specially?
“Let’s keep going.” Junyi pulled Lin Tan away, chatting gently. “Where were we talking about? Right, acting. Tell me every time one of your movies is released, and I’ll go see it.”
Lin Tan followed beside her with a complex expression, his emotions churning.
She spoke only after Madam Jun finished speaking: "You don't blame me?"
Junyi: "What's it to blame you for?"
Lin Tan: "Approaching you and Uncle Xie with ulterior motives."
“You didn’t know that, did you?” Junyi was always very tolerant of her. “Besides, even if your goal was me and your Uncle Xie, weren’t your plans with your friends also a kind of fate?”
Lin Tan was taken aback.
Junyi held her hand and continued, "If you hadn't appeared, I wouldn't have known that there were people in this world so similar to me, and my long-standing insomnia would never have improved."
“But I—” Lin Tan still felt guilty.
“You only need to answer one question for me.” Junyi looked at her, “You gave me a sachet of medicinal herbs and agreed to come to dinner. Was it because you wanted to get on my good side so that I could be your backer, or did you simply like me, your aunt?”
"I like you," Lin Tan replied.
She herself was surprised that she could develop feelings for a stranger so quickly.
They arrived very quickly.
Without any warning.
