Chapter 386 Showdown
"I'm not taking sides; I'm just telling you the price of offending Jiang Ruan." Qin Mo's eyes remained unchanged. "How you choose is up to you."
Qin Luofeng took two steps toward him, one hand in his pocket: "You've always known about what Dad and I were planning?"
Qin Mo looked up: "What do you think?"
He didn't interfere in many things because he felt they couldn't cause any trouble, and even if they did, Huo Zhizhou would cover for them.
Now that Huo Zhizhou has returned to Jingzhou, the risks have become even higher.
"Huo Zhizhou isn't in Haicheng right now. As long as you don't say anything, even if we did something, he can't do anything to us without concrete evidence," Qin Luofeng laid it all out to him. "Unless you side with them."
"Have you forgotten what happened to Li Chengxuan?" Qin Mo kindly reminded him.
“I checked, and Old Master Li has brought him back from danger.” Qin Luofeng was afraid of Huo Zhizhou, but Li Chengxuan’s incident made him feel that he had overestimated Huo Zhizhou. “In other words, he’s fine.”
Qin Mo tossed him a reply: "You can investigate more carefully."
Qin Luofeng frowned slightly: "What do you mean?"
Qin Mo, considering that he was his brother, said word by word, "There is only one ending for Li Chengxuan."
Qin Luofeng: "Which one?"
Qin Mo: "Die."
Qin Luofeng: "?"
Qin Luofeng blurted out almost instantly: "Impossible. He has already been taken back to the country by Old Master Li. No matter how arrogant Huo Zhizhou is, he can't kill someone under the Li family's nose."
"He won't, but the law will." Qin Mo rarely spoke so much to him. "Can you guarantee that the companies under your management and the things you handle are completely clean, and that not a single trace can be found?"
cannot.
This was Qin Luofeng's first reaction.
No company can be 100% flawless; at most, the accounts may be well-done or poorly done.
With Huo Zhizhou's connections and abilities, finding out those things and what they did behind the scenes would be a piece of cake.
"Isn't he afraid the Li family will hold a grudge against him for treating Li Chengxuan like this?"
"When has Huo Zhizhou ever been afraid?" Qin Mo continued with his work, exuding aloofness. "He never looks at the evidence when he wants to target someone; he only looks at his feelings."
Qin Luofeng hesitated.
If Li Chengxuan's fate is certain death, then no matter how perfect their plan is, it will be suspected.
If you suspect them, target them; they can't fight back.
"elder brother."
Qin Mo said coldly, "Speak."
Qin Luofeng looked at the person who had sacrificed the most for the Qin family since childhood: "Are you really willing to give up the shares we worked so hard to get to Jiang Ruan? Once it's returned to her, will the Qin Group still belong to the Qin family?"
Qin Mo did not answer.
The shares they held originally belonged to their aunt.
The Qin Group's current success is closely related to the planning made by his aunt. Without his aunt's detailed plan for company operations, his father and others would not have been able to support him until he grew up, and the Qin family would have already fallen from the ranks of the four major families.
He understood these things, but Qin Luofeng, Qin Muchuan, and the others did not.
They only know that what they hold in their hands is theirs, and there's no reason for them to return it after so many years.
The matter was dropped without resolution.
As for Jiang Ruan's side...
She chatted with Grandpa Qin, initially about happy and interesting things, but as the conversation turned to Jiang An, Grandpa Qin's feelings became complicated: "Back then, I was too proud to ask your mother for forgiveness, which is why she suffered so much outside."
Jiang Ruan did not comment.
She didn't know whether her mother felt relieved or burdened by leaving Haicheng.
But there's no need to discuss things that are already set in stone; the damage has been done and cannot be erased.
"Do you think she will forgive me?" Old Master Qin's only wish now is for his daughter to call him "Dad".
"Whether you forgive or not is not important." Jiang Ruan was not fixated on this; her thinking was more rational. "You just need to do what you want to do, and leave the rest to fate."
Instead of dwelling on the outcome, it's better to avoid regrets.
Many things don't have answers; just do your best.
“You’re right.” Old Master Qin seemed to have suddenly realized something. “I’ve decided to move in with you in a couple of days.”
Jiang Ruan paused for a moment.
Um?
Old Master Qin was immersed in his own world: "Making up for all the debts I owed her in the past is her business, whether she wants it or not is my business."
Jiang Ruan's mind went blank for two seconds.
Is that what she meant?
"Wait here, I'll go get something." Old Master Qin felt much more relaxed.
On his way to his room, he kept thinking about how shameless Li Zhishen was with An'an. That kid could stay by An'an's side even after hurting her so much. There was no reason why he, as her father, couldn't even find a place to stay after admitting his mistakes, apologizing, and doing his best to make amends.
A moment later.
Old Master Qin came out and handed her a sandalwood box that was much larger than the previous one.
Jiang Ruan asked in confusion, "What is this?"
“It’s the key to getting a place to stay with you.” Old Master Qin said it naturally, without the previous hesitation. “Give it to your mother and ask her if these things are enough for me to stay with you for a month.”
Jiang Ruan looked at the somewhat old box and agreed.
The two chatted for another half hour before Jiang Ruan suggested leaving.
No sooner had she left than Old Master Qin called out to her, "Ruan Ruan."
Jiang Ruan turned her head and asked, "Hmm?"
"Let's not investigate the past," Old Master Qin suddenly said. "The important thing is to focus on running the medical and rehabilitation center well, completing the assessment tasks as soon as possible, and taking back the shares that rightfully belong to your mother."
Jiang Ruan paused for a moment.
He quickly realized what the old man meant: "Was that really something they did intentionally?"
“A person who was healthy in every year’s physical examination suddenly developed that condition. If you think about it for a moment, you’ll know it was intentional.” Old Master Qin spoke vaguely, but Jiang Ruan understood. “It’s just that those involved were blinded by their own perspective and didn’t see through it at the time.”
This moment.
Jiang Ruan felt a mix of emotions towards the old man.
His sons used such despicable means to obtain shares, which was pathetic and pitiful; but in a sense, it was all his own fault.
None of this would have happened if he hadn't forced his mother to sell her shares and forced her to leave.
"I know I deserve it, so I'll pretend I don't know anything." Old Master Qin smiled, but there was a sense of desolation in his smile. "I also hope you'll pretend nothing happened."
Jiang Ruan: "How did you know I was investigating?"
Old Master Qin didn't hide anything from him: "Qin Mo said that when you left last time, you asked him a very strange question."
Jiang Ruan sighed.
She actually thought she had gotten away with that excuse.
He is, after all, the president of the Qin Group and the future heir of the Qin family.
"Just keep moving forward, don't worry about anything else." That's what Old Master Qin told her. He had already ruined his own daughter, and he couldn't drag his granddaughter down with him.
“I will tell Mom about your things and what you said,” Jiang Ruan said, holding the box in her hands. “I will also convey Mom’s message to you.”
Grandpa Qin exclaimed three times with delight, "Good, good, good!"
Jiang Ruan is gone.
It was given to me by Qin Mo, just like when I came.
Neither Old Master Qin nor Jiang Ruan wanted a repeat of what happened before.
Just as she got into the car to go back, Gu Shixi called her anxiously: "Jiang Ruan, Huo Er knows that I told you everything, and he boarded a plane to Haicheng ten minutes ago."
