Chapter 566 Finding New Evidence

Chapter 566 Finding New Evidence

"It's alright, as long as they chatted on the day it happened." Si Ning was quite open-minded about it.

Jiang Ruan: "Then I'll have to trouble you."

Si Ning: "It's nothing."

After we finished talking.

Mo Mo, in the passenger seat, looked at the message on his phone and reported to her, "Boss, He Jia's ex-boyfriend has been found."

"Where is it?" Jiang Ruan asked.

“Jingzhou,” Mo Mo said.

Jiang Ruan glanced at the time: "We're going to Jingzhou tomorrow."

“Actually, as long as He Jia turns herself in, it can still lead to Qin Luofeng.” Tang Bai pondered as he drove. “The day Madam had her accident happened just as she was planning to transfer her assets to you. He Jia is Qin Luofeng’s person. With all these connections, he can’t clear his name.”

“It can’t be washed away, but it’s also very difficult to convict him,” Jiang Ruan said.

The courtroom is not another place; it requires solid evidence to convict.

Even if He Jia turns herself in, more substantial evidence is needed to convict her, rather than simply stating what she did and sentencing her accordingly.

Her surrender will at most have some effect on sentencing.

However, now that she's convinced them, things will be a little easier afterwards.

The next day arrived quickly. After saying goodbye to Jiang An and Sui Sui, Jiang Ruan got up and went to Jingzhou, heading straight to where He Jia's ex-boyfriend was.

One o'clock in the afternoon.

They gave him a phone call.

At first, he thought they were lying to him, but after explaining their purpose, he agreed to meet.

Inside a private dining room in the restaurant.

Zhou Xu'an sat opposite Jiang Ruan, dressed in casual clothes, and looked somewhat awkward.

Tang Bai and Mo Mo stood behind Jiang Ruan.

"You came to see me because of He Jia?" Zhou Xu'an asked first.

He had met Jiang Ruan.

He saw her when the accident happened.

“Yes.” Jiang Ruan explained her purpose quickly without the slightest hesitation, “That incident was not because He Jia mistakenly stepped on the brake instead of the accelerator, but because she did it on purpose.”

"She said it herself?" Zhou Xu'an asked.

“I found out, and she admitted it,” Jiang Ruan said.

"No wonder." Zhou Xu'an's expression was somewhat complicated.

Jiang Ruan: "?"

Tang Bai was the first to notice something was wrong: "No wonder."

“She’s usually a very good driver, even more so than me,” Zhou Xu’an recalled of the day. “She suddenly said she wanted to go to that shopping mall. I said no, but she insisted and we went in anyway.”

"Why don't you go?" Tang Bai asked.

“That’s a place for rich people. What would I do there?” Zhou Xu’an said bluntly. “There’s not a single car in the parking lot that costs less than a million, and any item in the mall costs more than my monthly salary.”

"Did she say what she wanted to shop for?" Jiang Ruan searched for clues little by little.

"She said she wanted to see what they sold inside and broaden her horizons." Zhou Xu'an remembered the events of that day very clearly, after all, the trouble she had caused was too great.

Tang Bai: "What did you all go about?"

Zhou Xu'an: "They hit someone before they even went inside."

Jiang Ruan frowned slightly.

Tang Bai also had some doubts.

"To be honest, she did something quite strange at the time." Zhou Xu'an said this with mixed feelings and a bit of nervousness. "But at the time, I didn't know what she was thinking, so I didn't think much of it."

"What behavior?" Jiang Ruan asked.

“She stopped her car in and out of the parking lot several times,” Zhou Xu’an said. “I asked her why, and she said that all the cars here are luxury cars, and she was afraid that she might accidentally scratch one and not be able to afford to pay for it, so she wanted to practice more.”

"I didn't think much of it at the time. I just assumed that although she was a good driver, she wasn't very mentally strong, so I let her be."

These words were spoken.

Jiang Ruan immediately realized that He Jia's repeated parking was probably to find the right angle so that she could hit people directly after she and her mother appeared, thus achieving her goal.

“Who knew that you would appear after stopping several times in a row? She panicked and mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake,” Zhou Xu’an said. “If what you’re saying is true, then she was faking it.”

"How long have you been together?" Jiang Ruan asked again.

Zhou Xu'an replied, "A little over a year."

Jiang Ruan vaguely sensed something: "She used to live in Jingzhou?"

“Yes,” Zhou Xu’an replied, “Her younger brother is still studying at university here.”

"What kind of work does she do here?" Jiang Ruan continued to ask.

"She worked as an assistant at an outsourcing company." Zhou Xu'an remembered He Jia's story clearly. "The company's name seemed to be Changfeng."

Jiang Ruan looked at Mo Mo.

The latter allows for quick searching.

The answer was given in less than half a minute: "This company is related to Qin Muchuan."

Jiang Ruan felt a chill run down her spine.

Qin Muchuan specifically set up a company here, and He Jia knew her and her mother's schedule, which meant that they were being watched by Qin Muchuan's people most of the time.

No wonder her mother never let her study management when she was young.

No wonder her mother never talked about her background, only saying that she was an orphan.

If her mother tells her everything, there's no guarantee that Qin Muchuan won't do something to her.

To do something so heinous just to prepare for the transfer of property—if that were to happen, she probably wouldn't even have a chance to grow up alive.

"Is what you said true?" Jiang Ruan asked, composed herself.

“It’s all true.” Zhou Xu’an’s emotions were mixed. “If you don’t believe me, I can show you the dashcam footage from that car. It shows her stopping multiple times.”

"That's troublesome," Jiang Ruan said.

One hour later.

Zhou Xu'an gave them the dashcam.

Upon inspection, it was found that He Jia did indeed stop there several times in the ten or twenty minutes before the incident.

"Mr. Zhou, would you be willing to appear as a witness on the day of the trial?" Jiang Ruan put the dashcam back, her eyes serious. "Name your fee."

"Will this cause me trouble?" Zhou Xu'an asked.

"No," Jiang Ruan replied. "Even if there were, I would take care of it beforehand."

Qin Muchuan and Qin Luofeng wouldn't go so far as to harm Zhou Xu'an.

He was only testifying for He Jia.

That's all.

“It is possible,” Zhou Xu’an said with a complicated expression. “But can this be used as evidence? She did seem a bit flustered at the time, and the dashcam recorded her frightened voice.”

"Does she act like this when something happens normally?" Jiang Ruan asked.

“No,” Zhou Xu’an said. “When she’s driving, she can calmly avoid other people who drive dangerously. She’s very composed.”

That's why he found it strange.

But ultimately, it all comes down to the fact that she hit someone, which is why she was so scared.

"That's enough." Jiang Ruan breathed a slight sigh of relief.

She didn't expect there would be such an unexpected benefit from this.

This trip was quite straightforward.

"You didn't use this dashcam later?" Tang Bai asked after careful consideration.

“No, I sold that car a few months after the incident.” Zhou Xu’an answered directly, without any intention of lying. “I was worried that something might happen later and that I would be the one who hit the person, so I kept this car.”

After confirming that there are no problems.

Jiang Ruan is a little relieved.

After finishing their meal that day, Jiang Ruan chatted with him for a while before returning to Haicheng.

But she didn't expect to be stopped by an uninvited guest as she walked out of the restaurant.
