Chapter 110 He doesn't need anyone's sympathy or pity.
When Jiang Ruan looked up, she bumped into him.
Even though she and Huo Sinian had nothing going on, for some reason, being stared at by him like that always made her feel like she was being pricked by thorns.
Huo Zhizhou placed the helmet on the car and walked towards her with steady, powerful steps. His dark eyes, even in the darkness of the night, were so intense that they made one want to run away. He just looked at her from a distance.
Neither dodging nor avoiding.
"You're here," Huo Sinian greeted him in his usual tone.
Huo Zhizhou glanced at their figures, which were standing very close together.
Jiang Ruan subconsciously moved her feet to create distance, and after realizing what she was doing, her expression changed slightly. She hadn't done anything wrong, so why was she feeling guilty?
"Where's Gu Shixi?" Huo Zhizhou didn't look at her anymore, his thin lips slightly parted as he asked Huo Sinian with a distant and indifferent tone, "What did you do to him?"
"You came here for him?" Huo Sinian asked, amused.
Huo Zhizhou did not answer: "It's none of your business."
"He was talking to my secretary on the second floor, and they should be almost done by now." Huo Sinian adjusted his glasses, exuding an air of refined gentleness. "Would you like to come up with me?"
Huo Zhizhou shifted his gaze to Jiang Ruan: "Our relationship isn't good enough for us to walk side by side yet."
"Then I'll go up first." Huo Sinian wasn't as sharp-tongued as him, and his tone was very gentle. "You have a good chat with Ruan Ruan."
"Calling each other so intimately, aren't you afraid your sister-in-law will get jealous?" Huo Zhizhou remained completely calm, knowing he had deliberately said it to provoke him. "I heard you two were arguing just a few days ago?"
"It's just a little bickering between the two of you. Haven't you and Ruan Ruan had one?" Huo Sinian remained calm.
Huo Zhizhou raised his eyes slightly: "This is an admission."
Huo Sinian paused.
Realizing the trap in his words, her eyes darkened slightly.
"This matter isn't a huge deal, but it's not insignificant either," Huo Zhizhou said calmly. "If someone with ulterior motives pulls things along, do you think she might think you're here for Ruan Ruan?"
“I came here for her.” Huo Sinian met his gaze.
“Keep these words to her when you get back.” Huo Zhizhou’s eyes were pure black. “See if she will end your already improper relationship after hearing them.”
Huo Sinian's gentle eyes suddenly turned to other emotions, and his aura subtly changed: "What do you know?"
His response was Huo Zhizhou dragging Jiang Ruan away.
This time, Jiang Ruan did not break free. She let him pull her to the other side of the garden. After walking for about a minute or two, he stopped. His dark eyes fell on her, and his thin lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but he ultimately couldn't.
He knew that Jiang Ruan would not take the initiative to contact Huo Sinian.
She knew that Huo Sinian's soft words and intimate stance with her were deliberate.
She also knew that she wouldn't believe Huo Sinian.
Even so, he was still afraid when he learned that Huo Sinian was after her.
The two stood there like wooden stakes, neither of them moving. Jiang Ruan hesitated several times before swallowing back her words, remembering that they were a couple about to get a divorce.
"What did he say to you?" Huo Zhizhou asked in a low, steady voice.
"It's nothing." Jiang Ruan slightly distanced herself from him. "He just let me have a meal in a private room and said in front of everyone that he would stand up for me."
Huo Zhizhou frowned slightly.
What is Huo Sinian trying to do?
"I knew he had ulterior motives, but I didn't take it seriously," Jiang Ruan told him beforehand to avoid too much conflict.
As for the photos Huo Sinian showed her and the things he said, she didn't say anything, nor did she intend to. Huo Zhizhou had a strong sense of pride and didn't want anyone to see his weakness.
One of Huo Sinian's purposes in doing this was to use her to inflict secondary trauma on Huo Zhizhou.
He had always protected himself, unwilling to reveal himself to anyone, and she would not reopen his wounds.
He was good to her.
She also wanted to protect his past.
He doesn't need anyone's sympathy or pity.
Huo Zhizhou noticed her expression and, seeing that she wasn't in a good mood, asked, "Is that all?"
"That's all." Jiang Ruan looked up and met his gaze, speaking each word clearly.
Seeing that she was unwilling to talk, Huo Zhizhou did not force her, but only warned her: "Huo Sinian is not trustworthy. No matter what he tells you or what he does for you, it is all to achieve his own goals."
Jiang Ruan didn't respond.
She knows everything.
The two fell silent once again.
Jiang Ruan wanted to ask him if he was the one who brought Xue Yan and the others here, but then she realized that whatever the answer was, it no longer mattered to her.
Whether it is true or not, their relationship is about to end.
"Second Young Master." Huo Sinian's secretary suddenly came over, greeted him politely, and then said, "Our boss wants to see you upstairs. He has something to discuss with you."
Huo Zhizhou's eyes darkened slightly. He glanced at Jiang Ruan and then left.
He also happened to have something to talk to him about.
After they left, Jiang Ruan's tense heart relaxed slightly.
She didn't go in immediately. There was too much that had happened that night, and too much she had to process. Besides, she needed to find an excuse to deal with things at the company. Otherwise, no matter how hard she worked in the future, she would be overshadowed by other gossip.

After Jiang Ruan calmed herself down, she went inside. As soon as she sat down, her colleagues surrounded her and started gossiping.

The crowd bombarded them with questions, not concerned with the facts themselves, but simply enjoying the gossip.
Jiang Ruan suppressed her emotions. Fortunately, Huo Zhizhou entered through the hotel's VIP entrance; otherwise, who knows what other gossip might have been sparked.
"Ruan Ruan, what exactly is your identity?" Liang Qi chimed in, her curiosity driving her. "Tell us about it!"
"Exactly, exactly," others chimed in.
"I don't have any special status." What Jiang Ruan said was true; right now, she was just Jiang Ruan.
"That's not satisfactory." Director Luo also chimed in. Having failed to get any results from various sources, he could only approach Jiang Ruan. "If you really didn't have any status, would Miss Xue and Young Master Huo be looking for you?"
"Does Mr. Song's request for your attention imply that you also have status?" Jiang Ruan countered.
Director Luo: "How can these be the same?"
“I wish I had some kind of identity.” Jiang Ruan decided to use reality to defeat their suspicions. “That way I wouldn’t have to squeeze onto the subway to work, wouldn’t have to get up before I was fully awake every morning to go to work, and wouldn’t have to worry about being scolded from time to time.”
Liang Qi and the others exchanged bewildered glances.
That seems to make sense.
"Everyone knows how crowded the subway is during rush hour," Jiang Ruan continued. "You don't need to go through a hellish level to experience life."
“There’s no need to explain to them,” Xue Qian said, resting her head on one hand. “Those who believe will believe you even if you don’t say anything, and those who don’t believe will think you’re lying no matter how much you say.”
Everyone: "..."
After that, no one talked about it anymore.
Jiang Ruan breathed a sigh of relief after finally getting some peace and quiet, and subconsciously glanced up at the building during her free time.
I wonder what my elder brother wanted to talk to Huo Zhizhou about.
